Why Existing field_told claim (1976-06-06, NGR ep.27) already correctly captures the telling date.
Reasoning Carter places this the morning after learning of Neville's death; Neville's death is historically dated 1 Oct 1972 (per the event description's own curator note), so the morning after is 2 Oct 1972. This is the happening date, not the 1976 telling date already on file.
Verbatim (witness's words)

So the next morning, the phone rang, and it was his daughter, and she had come to get him to go pick up Mrs. Goddard, and she said, Frank, I think Daddy went during the night. Can you come over? I said, certainly, I'm on my way. So I rushed over, and when I got there, the body had already been sealed off. The authorities were there — the coroner, the county officials, and members of the family, and the daughter's friends.
