A few days before the last dinner party Carter phoned to describe his rising consciousness and sense of coming authority, and Neville broke in to insist it is all a gift, nothing is earned. A few days before the dinner party, I called to tell him of an experience I was having. I said, my consciousness is going higher and higher. I feel absolutely that some kind of authority, which I don't deserve, which I didn't earn, is going to be given to me. With that, he broke in and said, no, you don't earn it. It's all a gift. You don't earn anything in this world. But he confirmed what I said so there could be no question that he knew what was coming.
Neville (as quoted): "No, you don't earn it. It's all a gift. You don't earn anything in this world."
