On Saturday morning while shaving, Neville's wife told him David had phoned needing help — the soprano's long hairpiece for his show of the Magi at U.C.L.A. had vanished; Neville simply heard David's voice saying "I found it!" and dropped it, and between 5:30 and six that evening, before his friend Benny arrived, David rang to say he had found it; the show played to a full house with 250 to 300 turned away from a 540-seat theatre.
