Bill Donovan recovers from alcoholism through AA

Neville tells of Bill Donovan, a prejudiced man who went blind-drunk alcoholic while really searching for God, joined AA, has not drunk for a dozen years, and took Neville out to dinner where he explained that he and his wife Becky, who met in AA, never touch a drop.

  1. for the last dozen years relative · probable
Source "for the last dozen years", told in Drugs Dope Marijuana Lsd Alcohol Vegetarianism Etc (nid 2001)
  2. after 1953 bound · possible
Source passage 551260 ('for the last dozen years'); lecture nid 2001 delivery bound d0 (after 1965, probable, Churchill spoken of as dead)
Reasoning The lecture's own delivery claim bounds the telling to on or after 1965 (probable, from Churchill's death being spoken of as past); Bill Donovan is said to have been sober 'for the last dozen years' at the time of telling, so his recovery cannot be earlier than roughly 1965 minus twelve years, about 1953. Two hedges chain here (the delivery bound itself, and the round 'dozen years' figure), so confidence is capped at possible; I did not also assert an upper bound, since that would rest only on the corpus death anchor and add no real evidence.
