Herbert Hoover requests Awakened Imagination from Neville

Herbert Hoover sent Neville a signed pamphlet thanking him for his concept of Imagination and asked for a copy of Awakened Imagination to put in his library at Stanford; Neville sent the book, then gave the signed pamphlet to Elmer Petersen of the NBC news department, who never returned it. They never met, and were only brought together by mutual friends.

Why Lane L7 (#2354) re-derivation. Supersedes in substance, not in storage, the refuted-date told claim(s) on this event; those rows stand per append-only.
Reasoning Re-derived, not walked down. The existing told claim(s) on this event took their date from a delivery claim on node 1281 that the corpus has since REFUTED, so the corpus was asserting that Neville told this on a day it separately says he did not lecture. That is a contradiction rather than an over-confidence, and lowering the confidence would have hidden it instead of resolving it. The refutation stands and the told claim is the wrong side of it. Node 1281 surviving (non-refuted) claim: 1968-6-3 at `certain`. All claims on the node: 1967-9-11 refuted; 1968-6-3 certain (preferred). Superseded here: delta 0: 1967-09-11 at `certain` (run `corpus v1 / phase3b`). The telling is dated by its lecture, so with the refuted date removed from consideration the surviving claim is what the telling inherits, at that claim own confidence and no higher.
  4. 15 April 1968 estimated · probable
Source Jacob's Ladder: ChristJacob's Ladder: Christ (nid 2028), delivery 1968-04-15 probable
Reasoning Passage 551906 is a witness to this event and belongs to lecture nid 2028. That carrier has a supported exact delivery claim of 1968-04-15 at probable confidence, so the telling inherits that date and no higher confidence. Under PM #3532/#3535, a newly node-derived told claim is typed stated; uncertainty is carried by confidence. || v1.1 type repair: written as `stated` by run v1.1/l4/actor402/18500-18999-b8, retyped `estimated` — the claim cites node 2028, not a passage, so it is this lane's inference rather than something Neville said in so many words (#2117).

Source Imagining Creates RealityImagining Creates Reality (nid 1281), telling 1281-4, told 1967-09-11
Reasoning || v1.1/l7/told-close: the delivery claim this was derived from (nid 1281, 1967-9-11) was refuted by the L7 adjudication (#2363). The corrected told claim from the same lecture stands at 1968-6-3. This row is retired rather than deleted so the derivation history remains readable.

1967-09-22 [exact/certain/final] The New Christology When our late President Hoover addressed the GOP convention in San Francisco, he said: “The rise and fall of nations could be traced to the rise and fall of ideas implanted in the mind of man.” Here is a man who rose from the very bottom. He had no money, put himself through college, yet left millions to his family and various charities. Time will prove that Mr. Hoover was a truly great man. He didn’t cause the depression but tells us that it can be traced to the rise and fall of ideas implanted in the mind of man. He sent me an autographed copy of his address and asked for a copy of my book,… 535909
1968-04-15 [exact/probable/final] Jacob's Ladder: Christ So I tell you, Mr. Hoover was perfectly right…condemned as he was. He sent me his little pamphlet. He said he would put it in his library at Stanford University. So he accepted my book and he sent me his pamphlet. 1968-06-03 [exact/certain/final] Imagining Creates Reality Mr. Hoover made the statement at the convention in San Francisco when he addressed the GOP, I think the year was 1958, no, 1960. I know because he sent me a copy of his address and requested a copy of my book Awakened Imagination. Now, when that came out I do not know, but that was what he requested. He sent me his autographed message. This is what he said, “Human history with its many forms of government, its revolutions, its wars, in fact, the rise and fall of nations could be written in terms of the rise and fall of ideas implanted in the minds of men.” 535797
1968-07-16 [exact/certain/final] There Is No Other God Now, when men like our late President and the late Churchill and the present Anthony Eden will make these bold statements – if you tell people as they listen to you, who said it, they are inclined to accept it because the men were prominent when they lived here. And, so, here, Mr. Hoover – he sent me an autographed copy of his address that he gave in the City of San Francisco the last time he spoke at the G.O.P. Convention and he said that nations with its many forms of government, its revolutions – all the things concerning a nation – “The rise and fall,” he said, “could be written in terms… 538496
