Neville made Los Angeles his home from 1957 until his death at his West Hollywood home on 1 October 1972, lecturing there each season and travelling to San Francisco, New York and Barbados. The accounts differ on when it began: Frank Carter says 1954, Margaret Broome 1955 (with a return to New York in 1956), Neville himself 1956, and a clipping has him arriving from New York in April 1957. He had also rented a home on El Camino in Beverly Hills in 1952 or 1953.
