Neville's vision of a coliseum and a little pig

In a vision from years before this telling, Neville found himself alone in an enormous coliseum filled with an exhibition of flowers, trees, and the plant world at closing time; at his foot he discovered a small, undernourished runt pig, which he took up and began to feed. The scene then shifted to a huge supermarket, where he found the same pig again -- grown, but still thin and poorly fed -- and called out to his daughter Vicki for crackers to feed it while he mixed a meal, until his brother Victor came by and added a thick white substance to the mixture just before he woke. He reads the pig as a symbol of Jesus, the everlasting sustainer, drawing on the pig's meaning in the ancient language of symbolism.
