If you have been following our investigation into the history of Neville Goddard’s teacher, Abdullah, you know that we found him as a we finally found the link to 30 W. 72nd street . That was a huge breakthrough. A newspaper ad from 1928 finally placed our Atlantic City spiritualist-metaphysician at the legendary address where he lectured on “Soul Unfoldment” and even shared a stage with Swami Yogananda sometime before that. Neville Goddard said he studied with Abdullah for five to seven years, well into the mid-1930s. Today, another piece of that timeline fell into place. And it blew us away with a treasure trove of Copyright Registration cards from 1935 for songs! We already knew about his 1923 books or rather pamphlets on the , but now we see during the heart of the time he was teaching Neville, Abdullah published nine songs in a single year. Published at the very start of 1935, the handwritten subtitle “Rest” is significant.n1619 ¶4

In Neville’s teachings (and the wider New Thought movement), “Rest” often refers to the “Sabbath,” the state of mental rest after the creative act is finished, implying confidence that the manifestation is done. This is perhaps the most profound theological link to Neville Goddard found so far. The title is a direct reflection of the Sanskrit (“I AM THAT I AM”). It summarizes the core teaching Abdullah gave to Neville: You do not Friendless – Friend; a Song of Unrequited Love While categorized as a “Song of Unrequited Love”, the duality of the title matches the mystical concept of transforming states, turning the state of being “Friendless” into “Friend” through the act of song (or imagination). A return to the theme of “Rest” seen earlier. This mirrors the 1923 pamphlet found earlier titled It suggests that “Peace” was a central pillar of Abdullah’s doctrine, likely the “peace that passeth understanding” which comes from the successful use of the Law. Somewhere (Song of Trust in the Absolute) Somewhere; song of trust in the absolute. Marjorie Cameron MacLean (Author of words) This card is unique for two reasons. First, it introduces a collaborator, Marjorie Cameron MacLean, proving Abdullah was working with students or peers in the NY area. Second, the subtitle is pure metaphysics. In the 1930s, “The Absolute” was the standard term for the Unconditioned Consciousness/God. To “trust in the Absolute” is the precursor to Neville’s “brazen impudence”. “Norma” is a standard, but also a famous opera by Bellini. Given Modeste’s background as an opera singer, this may be an original composition or an arrangement. It confirms he was actively engaged in the high-art musical world of New York. is German for “Longing”. This confirms Abdoullah’s fluency in German, which Neville hinted at when he mentioned Abdullah taught him the Cabala (much of the key Cabala literature of that era was in German).n1619 ¶5

This is not just a Catholic prayer; it is a metaphysical re-interpretation. The subtitle “Glorified Presence Thou Art Our Prayer” equates the “Presence” (I AM) with the prayer itself. This aligns with Neville’s teaching that you don’t pray Published the same day as Ave Maria.n1619 ¶6

This focus on the “Madonna and Child” archetype was common in esoteric Christianity, symbolizing the birth of the “Christ Consciousness” (the wish fulfilled) within the individual. These 1935 cards are like a “musical score” of the Law. We’ve contacted the LOC to get an estimate on the cost to find these musical compostions. Reference Note: Who Was Marjorie Cameron MacLean? “Somewhere: Song of Trust in the Absolute” , the address listed on the copyright card.n1619 ¶7

This building served as both the family residence and the funeral parlor of her husband, , a prominent “modern and scientific mortician”. Born in Hardwick, New Brunswick to John and Margaret Noble, Marjorie married Daniel on April 4, 1893. Her husband’s deep involvement in fraternal orders suggests a strong social link to Abdullah’s own esoteric Masonic claims. Daniel MacLean’s memberships included: Monitor Lodge, No. 582, Free and Accepted Masons Clan MacDuff, No. 81, Order of Scottish Clans If this free archive of Neville Goddard’s lectures has helped you on your journey, consider helping keep it alive for others.
