Jehovahs Messiah (Unresolved ASR Witness)

It is in us as persons that God is revealed. “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” To say “Jesus Christ” is the same as saying “Jehovah’s Messiah.” Christ is Messiah. This will not shock you because you have been coming – maybe all of you – for quite a while. It certainly would be a shock to the outer world to learn who Messiah is. But I am telling you from my own personal experience Who-He-Is. We are told in Scripture, “He is the Son of God.” I am telling you tonight who the Son of God really is; and you will never in Eternity find another Son – not in Eternity! You and I were taught as Christians that Jesus Christ differs – is something entirely different from that of the Old Testament. Yet he is made to say, “I have come to fulfill Scripture.” “Scripture must be fulfilled in me.” “Then beginning with Moses and the law and the prophets and the Psalms, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.” He came only to do the Will of God.1209 ¶1

Now, in the 40th Psalm we are told: “I delight to do Thy will, O God. Thy law is within my heart.” This is the Psalm of David. It’s the 40th Psalm. “I delight to do Thy will, O God.” In the 13th Chapter of the Book of Acts, by the same author that gave us the Book of Luke, we are told – and this is the Lord speaking: “I have found in David, the son of Jesse, a man after my own heart who will do all my will,” , -- confirming the 40th Psalm, which is the Psalm of David: “I delight to do Thy will.”1209 ¶2

Well, I am telling you from my own experience, the day is coming – and I hope it’s in the immediate present – that you will be set free. You’ll be set free only as you find David. “If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.” Well, who are you? You are God the Father. That’s Who-You-Are. You came down and became man; but before you came down and became man, you had prepared a way for your Self to return, and only your “son,” which is the result of your experiences in manhood – the result is David; and when you see the result of your experiences, and know then – like memory returning – Who-You-Are – you are set free as told us in the Book of Samuel: He has promised to set the father of the one destroying the enemy of Israel – to set that father free.1209 ¶3

So he inquired. But who inquired? The king. But the king was insane; his name was Saul. He couldn’t even remember that he met the lad and met the father of the lad prior. Here in the 16th Chapter, he has asked the father of the lad to let the lad serve him. In the 17th Chapter he is inquiring: “Whose son are you, young man?” “Inquire whose son – whose lad – the stripling is.” No one knows, because Saul is an insane man, as we are! You are not confined in some institution; but if you have lost your memory as to Who-You-Are, you are insane. You are suffering from amnesia. And in this case, although we are not violent, we are suffering from total amnesia, because we do not know our only “son.” That only son is David, named in the New Testament as Jesus Christ, which is Jehovah’s Messiah. And David is the Messiah. “Rise and anoint him, for this is he, and then the spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that moment forward,” . He never lost a battle, because the Spirit of the Lord was with him.1209 ¶4

But to find David, what else is worthwhile in this world? Maybe tonight you could use, -- and who cannot use, -- a fortune? Any one of us tonight could use an extra sum of money, no matter what it is. If I had tonight millions, I could still use another few. If you had only a few thousand, you could use a few thousand more. Every one can use it. But what is that, compared to the finding of the Son? “If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed,” as told you in the 8th Chapter of John. If the Son – and man is looking for the Son, and he is complacent – he is satisfied, because he has been taught to believe one called “Jesus Christ,” born two thousand years ago, is the Son. He has completely accepted that; he believes that, and he thinks that is going to set him free. It will not in Eternity set you free. You must find, in the spirit, David; and David, in this spirit, is going to call you “Father.” And when he calls you “Father,” your whole memory returns. And that is God-awakening! You rise from the grave first, and still you do not know the Son. You are born from above, “not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God,” – born of your Self. You came out all by yourself. Yet, you are not free – not until you find the Son.1209 ¶5

And when you find him, it’s told you in the form of a parable. “For this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and he is found.” And the one who complained never left home. He remained in the land of Innocence; he never entered the world of Experience. You entered the world of Experience; and having gone through all the fires of this world, you come out as God the Father. To be a father, there must be a son; and the son, may I tell you? Is David. I will state it a thousand times over: there is no other son. “God and His Son” is the drama in this world. You – sound asleep and completely oblivious as to Who-You-Are, suffering from total amnesia – only one thing in this world can ever bring back to you your memory, and that is the discovery of David. And when you find him, suddenly memory returns, and the whole thing unfolds within you. And you are the One who conceived the play, and did not pretend that you are man. You actually became as we are, that we may be as You Are. So you became man that man may become God! but prepared the way for your return to your own Godhood.1209 ¶6

Now we are told, “Be ye perfect, as your Father in Heaven is perfect,” . The word “perfect” is “telos,” which means “the end.” It comes at the climax. It means to reproduce faithfully the original. Well, God is the original. He comes down into this world, and in man reproduces faithfully Himself in man. And then He awakes having reproduced it, so that His Son “in the beginning” recognizes it, and brings back into His Eternal Being all of us.1209 ¶7

So every one will awake. I can’t conceive of failure. I can’t conceive of one being in this world failing, because God the Father is in Him! Even if he dies as a little child, he once breathed. That breath was God. “Nothing is impossible to God,” . The most horrible beast that walked the face of this earth in the form of man cannot fail to awake! I do not care what he is. Every being in this world, male and female, will awaken; and when they awaken, it’s because the Son appears. “No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal it.” So in the fullness of time, He sends His Son into our hearts crying “Father.” And then, in that moment in time, the Son appears. He was always within us. The whole vast thing takes place within the Immortal Head of man.1209 ¶8

So when you depart, having found the Son, you will be part of the watchers, watching every one in the world; and they are all your brothers. And you will know that: “What seems to be, Is, to those to whom It seems to be, and is productive of the most dreadful consequences to those to whom it seems to be, even of torments, despair, eternal death; but the Divine Mercy steps in and redeems Man in the one body called Jesus.” And “Jesus” is “Jehovah.” “Jesus” is the word that means “Jehovah.” “Christ” is “Messiah,” the Son. So “Jesus Christ” is simply “Jehovah’s Messiah.” That Messiah is David. Jesus is the Lord God Jehovah. His Son – if he is a father, he has a son, and the Son is David. There is no other Son.1209 ¶9

“So David in the spirit calls Him “My Father” – my rock – “the Rock of my Salvation” – he calls Him “my God.” So Jesus is the man that is “born from above,” and the man “born from above” is Jehovah. He is God the Father; and if he is a father, there must be a son. “Where is my son?” Then the Son comes, and he’s David; and David brings back your memory, and you are set free. For: “If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.” This is the great mystery of the Christian faith. It’s a mystery, not to be kept secret, but it is mysterious in character.1209 ¶10

Scholarship is not enough to grasp the mystery of Scripture. In fact, when Paul sets out the eighth rank in the Kingdom of Heaven, he puts the wise, wise men at the bottom. People completely misunderstand what it means to be one who speaks in many tongues. That’s the scholar. It hasn’t a thing to do with all this nonsense where people throw themselves into a trance, and then utter – bringing saliva into their mouth; it hasn’t a thing to do with that. He mentions eight divisions, and you read it in the 12th Chapter of First Corinthians . The first is the apostle: that’s always the first. Then the prophet; then the teacher; then the miracle worker; then the healer; then the helper; then the administrator; and then those who speak in diverse tongues, -- the scholar who will take our scripts and, year after year they will bring them back into their original position, because men invariably interfere with them. More so in the past than today, because today we have print; and we can set a type and reproduce a thing over and over. But in the past, until the middle maybe of the Fifteenth Century, everything was script; everything was copied. Well, a man couldn’t take these volumes and copy them accurately; so he not only mis-copied, but he also inserted his own opinion. So the scholars who understood the vast background of language could take them and bring them back to their seeming original form. Yet they are the last in the ranks in Heaven.1209 ¶11

The first is the Apostle. Well, who is the Apostle? The one who is called and sent. That’s the Apostle. You are called into the presence of the Risen Lord. You answer the questions He asks you, which is the highest of all; it’s above all the ranks, for Love is the greatest of all. You could be the Apostle, you could be the Prophet; you could be any of these mentioned in the eight ranks, just as we have in Government. You come down from the head to the very lowest. In the Army, we start with the General down to the Private. We have it in the social world. But above all these ranks stands Love. And so, every one, one day, will be embraced by “the One Body, the One Spirit. . . . The One Lord. . . . the one God and Father of all,” and that Being is Love. So all will be equal, in spite of the parts we play in the world. So let no one “pull his rank” on you.1209 ¶12

So he has been sent? Well, that’s all right; he is sent, and maybe he is a Prophet, and maybe he is a healer, and maybe he can work miracles; but let no one “pull any rank” on you, because eventually you are going to be part of the Body of God, and God’s Immortal Body is LOVE. All will then be members of the Body of God: “the one body, the one spirit. . . . The one lord. . . . one God and Father of all.” So let no one “pull his rank” on you.1209 ¶13

I have been called, and I have been sent. I am an Apostle. I stood in the presence of the Risen Lord, and He asked me to name the greatest thing in the world, and I answered in the words of Paul: “Faith, hope and love, these three; but the greatest of these is Love.” At that, he embraced me, and our bodies fused and we became one body without loss of identity. I was not absorbed into some world soul. I was one with that body of Love, one with that spirit, one with that God and Father of all – but no loss of identity. Then I was “sent.” To be “called” is to be “sent.” But it was the embrace of Love that was the important thing, for that is above all ranks in the world.1209 ¶14

So here, the day is coming – and I do hope it’s soon for every one here – when you will find the Son; and when you find him, he is David -- David of Biblical fame, the David mentioned in the Book of Samuel and the Book of Chronicles, the David of the Psalms; that is the David of whom I speak – the one who could say: “I will tell of the decree of the Lord: He said unto me, ‘Thou art my son, today I have begotten thee.’ This is the David of whom I speak, and he is the Son of God; and Jesus Christ – Jesus is Jehovah, and “Christ” means “Messiah.” That is the “Anointed One.” And who was anointed? Was it not David? “Rise and anoint him. That is he. And from that moment forward, the Spirit of the Lord descended upon him and possessed him;” and he lost not a battle, for the Spirit of God went with him.1209 ¶15

So this is our destiny. You and I are destined to awaken as the Being that we really are. Now the word called “perfect” is “telos.” It simply means the “end,” the “climax;” it always comes at the end. And you will be saying these words, “I have finished the work Thou gavest me to do. Now return unto me the glory that was mine, the glory that I had with Thee before that the world was.” That’s what you will say! You are only asking for the return of what you gave up to come down into the world of “death.” “I have finished the work,” – that is what the word “telos” means: to finish it, to accomplish it; “and having finished it, I am only asking for the return of what was mine before that the world was.” And “glory” means God Himself. “Glorify Thou me with Thine own Self, with that glory which I had with Thee before that the world was.”1209 ¶16

So what on earth could any one ask for that would be comparable to the discovery of the Son which brings his memory back? Well, we are all suffering from amnesia. If I could only remember that I am the Father! And there, as father, there is a son – and find the son that could I some way call me and then bring back my memory. And he does! He calls you, and your memory returns; and here you stand before your own “son” – your only “son,” and then you know exactly Who-You-Are. And you know how you did it! “Before that the world was,” you prepared the way for your Self to return. And he – your “son” – did everything that you willed him to do. And now you would not leave his soul in hell. You redeem him, and you bring him back. And you and your “son” return. Now the “son” is the sum total of all the experiences of humanity, fused into a single whole and projected – personified, and it comes out as David. And that is David.1209 ¶17

You cannot blame any one for not completely accepting the false concepts that we have given to the world as we teach Scripture. Those who are grounded in the Old Testament, you can’t blame them for not – unless they have the experience. When they have the experience, they will not go along with the traditional Christian concept; they will see their own wonderful state unfolding: that the Old Testament actually is true – it unfolds. And it is true in the New, but not as taught by those who teach it. They teach it entirely differently. It’s not so at all. God is the only Reality. There is nothing but God. And God is Love, and God is the Father; and as a father, there must be a child, and that child happens to be a son, and that “son” happens to be David.1209 ¶18

So I am telling you what I know from my own experience. I am not speculating; I am not theorizing.1209 ¶19

If today we go back two thousand years, we think the most important people who lived in the First Century A.D. would be the Caesars and the mighty powers of that day. They were the unknown fishermen. Name the others. The unknown fishermen of that Century were the most important. So he comes into the world; and man, by his wisdom, did not know God. “So it pleased God by the foolishness that I preach” , said Paul, “to tell you of the mystery of God. And the weakness of man,” – he uses that – “and the humbleness of man,” – and he uses that – “and not all the false pride of the world.” Today we give awards to this one for being the best dressed. Well, she can afford a hundred thousand a year for dresses. The other one can afford another fortune for something else. And we give all these awards every year. Ask me next year who was mentioned this year. They fade just as shadows fade. But we go back two thousand years when the unknown fishermen were the most important people who walked the face of the earth.1209 ¶20

And he called them, one by one; and as he called them one by one, he embraced them and sent them. No one can be sent unless he is first called; and when he is called, he is embraced. But who embraced them? While he was on earth? No. After he departed this world. It’s the Risen God that calls them. The Risen Lord calls them; and when you are called into this, may I tell you?1209 ¶21

The story is so altogether true: There is here the angelic being with a recording book. How on earth could that be seen by Daniel? But it is true. Here is a book that tall – a book that wide; and here she stands – or rather, she is seated at a desk not unlike this, but it’s a big one, and she is recording – the Recording Angel. And when you are called into this Divine Assembly, you stand at her side, and she looks at you. She doesn’t say one word to you; she just simply records your name. She checks you off.1209 ¶22

Then you are taken, in spirit, into the presence of the Risen Lord, the Ancient of Days – that’s who he is – as described in Daniel. And he asks you the simple question: “What is the greatest thing in the world?” And you answer automatically, as though you were divinely prompted: “Faith, hope, and love – these three: but the greatest of these is Love.” Then he actually embraces you. He has hands, he has a face, he has a mouth – he asks you a question. And here, he embraces you and you fuse as though you took a drop of water and dropped it into a bowl of water. It disappears in it without loss of identity. It becomes the bowl, and yet it is still individualized. I did not cease to be aware that I am the being that I thought myself to be; yet I felt the ecstasy of the union. That was union. That was the true baptism of the Holy Spirit.1209 ¶23

And then I was placed in the presence of another, who was Infinite Power; and it was he who sent me. He is the same one who embraced me, for God is a protean Being. He assumes any form that suits the purpose of the moment. So when I was sent, Power sent me; when I was embraced, Love embraced me. That is for Eternity, as told in the 8th of Romans: “Nothing in Eternity can separate us from the love of God” . So not a thing that I will go through, having been sent, can separate me from that union with Love. But I was sent, not by Love; I was sent by Power. He seemed to be Almighty Power when he sent me.1209 ¶24

“Down with the bluebloods,” – not the social structure. Down with all external worship – it simply is an expression meaning all church protocol: everything that is something on the outside – down with it. It hasn’t a thing to do with Reality. All the things you see when you go to church – all the crosses and all the things --- down with it! Do not tear it down – ignore it. It hasn’t a thing to do with Reality.1209 ¶25

So, Power sent me to tell you what I am telling you; but Love first embraced me, and therefore I am persuaded that not a thing in this world can separate me from the Love of God. No matter what I go through, it can’t separate me from the Love of God. But I am telling you, you are God the Father. You will not awake until the Son appears. At that moment in time when he appears, your memory returns, and you recognize him in the most intimate, marvelous manner; and no power in the world can shake your confidence in this union of father-son. It’s the return of memory. Amnesia vanishes, and your Godhood returns.1209 ¶26

But you know every one is going to have the identical experience. You cannot boast, as you are told in First Corinthians, the 4th Chapter: “What have you that you did not receive? If you received it, where can you boast?” Of what could you boast? How could I stand before you and boast that I was embraced by God when it was a gift? God gives to Himself! So I can’t boast. I am not better than – if I precede you in a chronological order, I can’t precede you in importance, because we are all one. Every one is God! So if I preceded you – undoubtedly I have by a few years – it’s twelve years this coming month that it happened to me. It could happen to you tonight. It may happen to you at the end of a section of time. But when it happens, you have been one with me. I can’t be better than – and time will mean nothing if I preceded you in time. It hasn’t a thing to do with taking precedence over you, because we are one. God is one.1209 ¶27

So here, the whole unfolds within man – the skull of man, the Immortal Head of man. That’s where the whole drama is. If you dwell upon this, may I tell you? You will have such courage to face everything in this world. If business is slow, what does it matter? If someone that you love dearly is fading before your eyes – all right, you know, she or he is still the Being that you are. Nothing dies in this world. And so, it really doesn’t matter. If they fade and they disappear from your world, it still doesn’t matter because you are love, and he or she is love; and all, in the end, are one. All are one.1209 ¶28

So you are encouraged to go through all the fires of the world – all the hell that one can put upon you, because we are all one, and we cannot come out until we are perfect. You must be perfect, as your Father in Heaven is perfect. And that “perfect” means simply “fully made,” “fully grown,” a full man; and that full man is God. God is man. Let no one tell you that He is not. He is not some impersonal over-soul. God is man! Man not knowing this on this level, he thinks He is some peculiar impersonal force. He is not an impersonal force; He is very personal: “One body, one spirit. . . . . one lord . . . one God and Father of all” – all are contained within this “One.”1209 ¶29

So I ask you to be patient. And if you can’t completely grasp all that I am trying to say, believe me. I am telling you what I know from my own personal experience. I am not speculating; I am not theorizing. I have no intention whatsoever to set up some workable philosophy of life. I have no –ism, no desire to set anything in motion to perpetuate what I am talking about. If any one has that desire, let them have it; but I have one. I do know that it will last and last and last, and grow, just as it grew two thousand years ago.1209 ¶30

For the time has come to tell you the truth concerning the Son. We have had it now for two thousand years – a misconception of who God really is. Jesus is the Lord God Jehovah. And the Lord God Jehovah is a father; and the Father has a Son, and that Son is David. That is the David of Biblical fame.1209 ¶31

And one day you will know it, and you will be so thrilled, you can’t conceive of the ecstasy that is yours when you see David, and David calls you “father!” And then you go back into your own words because you dictated the words of Scripture and fell asleep. You are the Author of the Book! “In the volume of the book, it is all about me. I delight to do Thy will, O My Lord,” . It’s all about me: the Father and the Son. This is the relationship.1209 ¶32

And when it happens to you, you will tell it. And I am – telling you from my own experience that unborn generations will take what you hear tonight and tell it and tell it and tell it. I mean unborn generations throughout the centuries, for I’ve been sent to tell it.1209 ¶33

The year was 1929 when I was called. In 1929 I was called and sent, and I did not understand anything concerning the mystery that happened that night. But He takes the lowest of men, the humblest of men – not the scholars. He takes those that no one would ever suspect; and if He takes you, well then, He is with you, and He unfolds Himself within you.1209 ¶34

So, in due time, thirty years later He unfolded Himself within me – in 1959. It took Him thirty years in preparation within me, like a gestation; and then suddenly He rose within me. Then I knew who He was. He came to me as one unknown, yet one who in the most wonderful, miraculous manner allowed me to experience Who-He-Is. When I experience who He is, I realized I am He. There were not two of us then – just one. I was all alone in the tomb wherein I was buried, and I didn’t realize throughout the years that I was the One spoken of in Scripture – that I was the buried one.1209 ¶35

Now let me comfort you. “We have been crucified with Christ” – not just a single being – “we have been crucified with Christ. Nevertheless I live, yet not I, it is Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live, I live by the faith of that Son of God who loved me,” – his Father “gave Himself for me” . He “died” to bring his Father back. This is part of the drama. The Father and the Son. Only God could do it! There is nothing but God in the world. God is playing every part in the world; and in the end, when He awakes, his beloved David stands before him – the sum total of the Father’s experiences through death. And he conquers death. He comes out of death, as the Immortal Being that he is.1209 ¶36

Now if you know of anything in this world worthwhile more than what I have told you tonight, name it for me. If tonight you owned the earth, and death, may I tell you? Is inevitable, what would it matter what you owned? If you were the most famous person in the world, what would it matter if death terminates it? I tell you that you are an Immortal Being, infinitely greater than any outside man in the world. No position could ever be given you comparable to the Being that you really are. You are the Immortal God. You are God the Father1209 ¶37

If any one should doubt me tonight, I would not question you. You only know this much: I’ll meet you in Eternity, and we will laugh at your doubt! I would not care if you doubted or not, we will meet in Eternity. There will be no need for forgiveness, because we will simply be hilarious that in your present state of consciousness you could doubt that you are the Being I am telling you that you are. Having awakened from the dream of life, I am telling you Who-You-Are. And so, should you doubt it, I will only have to wait; and I will wait patiently and then embrace you lovingly as my brother, for we are all brothers. It takes all the brothers to form God the Father. Every one is a Brother; and together, collectively, we form God the Father.1209 ¶38

You see, the word “Elohim” is a plural word. It’s a compound unity: one made up of others. We are the “others.” We are the Brothers. So, “In the beginning God” – that word is “Elohim” a plural word –“said, ‘Let us make man in our image.’” That is a plural word, and the word is Elohim.” So we are the ones who make it in our image. It must be faithfully reproduced. What? The original. We are the original. It must be faithfully reproduced to expand the glory that is ours! When it is faithfully reproduced, then it is perfect, when you awake; but you have expanded by reason of the experience of coming into the world of “death.”1209 ¶39

Now, if this is not practical tonight, may I tell you? It’s far more practical than anything that you would ever hear in the world. In the morning’s paper you read of prominent men. It’s always prominent if it is in the theatrical world and big, or if it has money. It doesn’t ask you how you got the money; but you could leave, say, fifty million tonight, even though you stole the fifty million, and you are going to get a long, long obituary tomorrow; but you aren’t going to take it with you. You will leave your fifty-whatever-it-is for others to either spend or invest as they do; but they aren’t going to take it with them.1209 ¶40

I ask you to live nobly, because now you know Who-You-Are. Live so that your mind can store a past worthy of recall. Well, you are simply going to leave the little things behind you, but you will take over your past. I will know – you will know – when you go beyond.1209 ¶41

In my own case, I am not going beyond. I have finished the race. I can actually say with Paul: “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Henceforth is laid up for me the Crown of Righteousness” . So, I am not continuing the race, continuing the fight; I will only continue it for a little while, to get off all that I am told I must get off before the curtain comes down, which in my own case – without being sad about it – I personally hope it isn’t too long. Personally, I hope it’s not beyond the immediate present. That is my personal hope.1209 ¶42

But I do know we all come in on time, and we go out on time. So I cannot tell anyone because no one knows that hour, that moment, but the Deep, and He doesn’t reveal it to the surface mind. He simply reveals it at that moment when you go. But I as a being still living on the surface for a little while –it would be my wish that it would not be long delayed, because I have finished it. I have done all that I am called upon to do. “I have finished the work Thou gavest me to do. Now return unto me the glory that was mine, the glory that I had with Thee before that the world was.” That is my prayer tonight.1209 ¶43

I do hope that you will be encouraged, no matter what happens to you in the present or the future, to remember these words that you really are God the Father. If you are beaten down and you are ostracized and you are alone, remember: You are God the Father! And remember my words: You are going to find your “son” who is God’s Son, and God’s Son is going to call you “Father,” and you will know you really are God the Father! And whatever clothes you have worn – how tattered they might have been in the world, when you hear it, you will be clothed in your Immortal Body.1209 ¶44

God's Timeless Purpose

In the depths of consciousness is the Gospel still extant. God’s timeless purpose working in time. When purpose is revealed, all falls into place. The revelation of purpose gives meaning to everything. So that is what we want to touch on tonight.1205 ¶1

When we read in the 82nd Psalm, “I say you are God’s sons of the Most High, all of you. Nevertheless you will die like men.” Does this not imply that you are not men? That you are not men? If you are men when addressed, then the sentence “you will die like men” is without meaning. You are told you are sons of God. But you will die like men.1205 ¶2

Now we turn to Paul’s letter as he wrote it to the Philippians. “Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself and took upon himself the form of a slave, being born in the likeness of men, and being in human form, he became obedient unto death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him a name that is above all names, Christ; every knee should bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God.” Now Jesus Christ only claimed he was the Son of God. You were addressed in the beginning as sons of God. Here is now our purpose, the reason for emptying ourselves and becoming slaves. The human form is the cross. It is the slave. And we will bear this cross, the allotted span, or we will cry out because we have to completely empty ourselves of the being that we really are, is one with God. We were in the form of God. Yet we emptied ourselves and took upon ourselves the form of a slave, being born in the likeness of men, and being in the form of man humbled ourselves and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross.1205 ¶3

Now we are the being spoken of in scripture. This story in the depths of your own consciousness is still expanding. It is taking place without reference to duration, to repetition, or to its position in time. It will slowly unfold itself in each person in this world. As it unfolds itself, the individual knows he is the one who descended into this world and took upon himself the form of a slave, that is the human form. No one can ascend into heaven but he who descended, the Son of Man. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up. This is not your real form. You took this for a purpose, for this is the form of death. You descended into this world that you may taste and experience death.1205 ¶4

When you read in scripture, “should not the Christ suffer these things and then enter into his glory?” Now you and I have the association with the word suffer as grief, pain. Look it up in your biblical concordance and you will see that it means to experience a sensation or feeling. There are many words translated: one is to let it be so. When he comes before John, and yet he allows it to be so, for tradition’s sake, and he becomes baptized, let it be so — it’s called suffer, suffered to be so. Now, but when it comes to the statement, “should not that Christ suffer these things and then enter into his glory,” that word is translated to experience a sensation, to experience death.1205 ¶5

The immortal you could not know what death is like. It could never know the pains of this world until it became one with it. To become one with it, it had to empty itself of its divine form which was one with God and take upon itself the form of a slave, being born in the likeness of man.1205 ¶6

So he wears it as you will wear a mask. This is a mask. Your real form, if I told you — I can only use words, but how on earth could I tell you of the glory of your form? Neville is risen. I can only tell you it was a spiral motion, this is 1946, and I am a luminous body. I needed no sun, no moon to be guided by. Everything was made perfect because I was perfect. Everything that I passed by, though at the moment it seemed imperfect, it was instantly transformed into perfection. The blind ceased to be blind, the deaf ceased to be deaf, the lame ceased to be lame, and everyone was made perfect in that moment as I passed by. That was the form.1205 ¶7

11 years ago, on the 8th of April, when I was lifted up, as my body, the cross that I wore, through the sanctuaries, at that moment in time it was split in two, from top to bottom. And here — I saw, how on earth can you describe this to any person and make sense of it — here my body is completely split in two. And I am looking now at a pool of golden liquid pulsing light. And I know it is myself. As I know it, I, the observer, fuse with it. It is myself. My own redeemer and creator. And yet it is myself. Like a self-redemption. A self-created being. Fiery serpent, I ascended into heaven. You tell a man that he’s a fiery serpent, it’s fearsome. He wants to be a man of flesh and blood. He wants exactly what he is, made a little bit better, a little bit stronger, a little bit of everything more than he is now, but he doesn’t want a radical change of the being that he is. But I tell you, the face is human, the voice is human, the hands are human. But do not ask anyone to tell you what the body is. You will not see it. I can only describe the motion that I made when I ascended. And when I entered into this state, it reverberated, as we are told in scripture, he takes it by storm. The whole thing was one tremendous reverberation. As you enter, that is in store for everyone.1205 ¶8

The descent is into generation, and the ascent is into regeneration. The descent is into death and decay, and the ascent is into everlasting life, but enhanced by reason of the experience of the descent. You were before that the world was, and you were in the form of God. As Paul said, he has made known unto us the mystery of his will according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time. It’s a plan. This is not some emergency thinking. Before that there were ones. You were. You are the gods spoken of. And because you are God, and addressed as God, when you have this experience you taste of death.1205 ¶9

Now this is contemporary. When you read scripture, do not think for one moment you’re reading of something that took place two thousand years ago. You’re reading it now. And they began to stone him, now he’s come only to fulfill scripture. What scripture is he fulfilling now, in this tenth chapter of John? Go to the twenty-first chapter of the book of Deuteronomy and read these words: “if a man has a son who is stubborn and rebellious and will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, they will bring him and shall bring him before the elders of the city and say to the elders, this is our son, he is stubborn and rebellious and a drunkard. Then the men of the city shall stone him to death with stones.” Do you recognize the character in the gospel? Read it in the 11th chapter of Matthew. And so they call the Son of Man a drunkard and a glutton, a friend of sinners, of publicans and harlots and tax collectors. There is one who said to his mother, “what have I to do with thee?” Then they confronted him in the temple and said, “why did you do this to us? Your father and I have been searching for you for three days.” And he answered, “I must be about my Father’s business.” They could not understand him — he was then about 12 years of age. They couldn’t understand a complete denial of physical ancestry, for he knew now, for memory began to return, who he really is.1205 ¶10

He came down to experience death. He bore the cross for the allotted time. Then came that moment in time when the cross was split from top to bottom. And the spirit trapped set free, and the long-lost rank restored, and the fall forgiven. And now, whom are my parents? Who are my brothers? Who are my sisters? Those that do the will of him who sent me. Sent me into this world of decay and death, that I may experience decay and death. I could not experience it from above. I had to come right down into it and assume, and be born man. And this is the cross that I wear.1205 ¶11

So the body that really you gave up — I can’t begin to tell you the joy that is in store for you when you once more pick it up. It’s a body of light. A body of power. A body that is all wisdom. You don’t have to raise one finger to make eyes appear in empty sockets. You don’t take them to a hospital and put little eyes from some eye bank into the sockets. They don’t have any little banks for livers and for hands and for missing members. As you walk by, everything is done because you are perfect. You need nothing that mortal man thinks you must need. Nothing can remain imperfect in your presence as you walk by, clothed in this garment. The garment you gave up. You emptied yourself and then took upon yourself the form of a slave, being born in the likeness of men.1205 ¶12

So if I tell you, as I will, I say you are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you. Nevertheless, you will die like men. If you are men, when I address you, that is a stupid remark. If you are not men, as you are addressed, and you are addressed in the divine counsel, then who are you? I told you, you are sons of God. But what then was my form? You emptied yourself of it. You gave it up. I can only bring back a little shadow of remembrance to you by telling you from my own experience what’s in store for you. And I use the word serpent — it is distasteful to the average person in the world, and yet we are told those who surround the throne of God, the seraphim, are fiery serpents, God’s wisest creation, the seraphim. And when Isaiah said, send me, your Lord, and they came with a coal and put it on his lips, they spoke — it was the human voice. He described them as having hands, human faces, because he did put wings on them.1205 ¶13

I will tell you from my own experience, you don’t need wings. You are omnipresent in such a body. Wherever you would be, there you are. You need no power to take you there. You are power. You are omnipotent. You are omniscient. You are omnipresent. So you do not need anything to take you any place. That’s the being that you are. But you completely emptied yourself of it for this divine purpose.1205 ¶14

And many a time while wearing these bonds, this cross, we cry out. It seems so heavy, and all the horrors of the world, and we do cry out, asking to be relieved of it. But you will carry it the allotted time, and when the time is fulfilled, then it’s going to be split right down from top to bottom, and at the base you’re going to see — and how on earth can I tell you — molten gold will take any form you have, the form you... you are the observer. And the minute you look at it, you go up into heaven like a fiery serpent. That’s the being that you are.1205 ¶15

Let no one scare you. Let no one frighten you that you’ve got to do this, that and the other. It’s already done. This whole thing is already completed. You are here as members of a body, one body, sharing in a purpose. In the end, when you go back, you are that one body. You and I actually form the one body that is God. So we the sons of God came down. And when we rise, we are God the Father. The wholeness is by shuffling ourselves, becoming fragmented, and then going through the entire journey, and in the end returning, and returning into unity. And that unity is God the Father.1205 ¶16

So when we are told stoning to death was applied only to the literal facts of life, so they took up stones for stoning. We are told at the end, not one bone of his body was broken. What body? The Bible. That’s his external body. Men have tried through the centuries to change it. And you will find these many editions, and they’re necessary, because overly zealous tribes will add and take from, and add their own little stupid concepts based upon their theory, what they think it ought to be. And you’ll find among the wisest of men, still trying to change the body. But in the end, not one bone is broken, as you’re told in Exodus, in Numbers, and in the Psalms. Not a bone is broken. And they came to him. Not a bone is broken. And they came to him, not a bone was broken. It means that you cannot change. He did not come to change, to abolish the law and the prophet, he came only to fulfill. So he fulfills everything in the world.1205 ¶17

And you are the one spoken of, you are the Lord Jesus Christ, until you actually know it from experience. Dwell upon it, just dwell upon it, go to sleep in the consciousness of being. And you will know, beyond all doubt, in the not distant future, really, who you are. You’ll know the truth of the things that I’m talking about. Everyone does. That’s why I am here. That’s why I’ve been sent. I’ve been called and sent in the same way that Paul said he was called and sent. In the same way the central figure said, I have been sent. And when you see me, if you can really see me, you’ll see him who sent me. So know the one who sent him when you see him, because all will be alike. And yet no loss of identity, may I tell you. It’s not an absorption, losing your identity. No. And yet the same form, that same glorious radiant form that is all powerful and all wise. So that’s the being that you really are.1205 ¶18

What does it matter what Oscars you got today or tomorrow? Or what power in the world of Caesar you seem to exercise? That means nothing compared to the being that you really are. Put all your mind and all your soul upon this one hope, that it will unfold in the not distant future within you. For that’s the only purpose for it all. And when this purpose is really revealed to you, and I’m trying my best to reveal it, then everything falls right into place. It gives meaning to the entire picture of life. Everything has meaning, if perchance for passing through a trying time.1205 ¶19

I’m going to ask a friend of mine — he’s here tonight — to tell another friend, a mutual friend, this statement from Blake: “States in which all visionary men are accounted mad.” Then he adds this to that thought: read Luke, the second chapter, the first verse. If you read the second chapter, the first verse, you will wonder how on earth can he relate that to what he has just said, that all visionary men are accounted mad. But if you read the whole chapter, you will see what he is really telling you — that is on your doorstep, it’s the birth of the child. The second chapter of Luke, the first verse: and that is that the order went out from Augustus Caesar that all the whole vast world must be enrolled — enrolled, as implied, for taxes. They must now be enrolled, for the order has come. That will be the whole chapter, and you’ll see where this now — Joseph, because he was of the line of David, he took his wife Mary up to Bethlehem, the city of David, for the delivery of her son. And then the son is born. It’s preceded by, as Blake said, a form of madness. For he said, all visionary men are accounted mad. In certain states, they are accounted mad, in madness. And then he asked me to read that verse.1205 ¶20

Blake was not the kind of person that would spell everything out. In fact, he didn’t spell anything out. He said to his critic, the great Trusler, the Reverend Dr. Trusler, you say I need someone to interpret my words. You ought to know that that which can be made clear to the idiot isn’t worth my time. And the ancients understood this, and they said what was too clear could not rouse the faculties to act. If you leave it without trying to clarify it, then you will simply stimulate the man to think and rouse the faculties to act. So he doesn’t spell it out, but if you read the chapter you will see what Blake is implying: that a form of madness precedes the birth of the child.1205 ¶21

I know in my own case — it goes back quite a few years before 1959, I would say four or five years — and if I shared with others what I was feeling within me at the time, it would form a form of madness. Yet I was talking to an audience of 2,600 on Sunday mornings and turning away over 1,500 at the Fox Wilshire. And I take that platform, and here I could feel within me just as a woman would feel the struggle of a child within her. And I felt it in my head, this pulsing, pulsing, vibrant state. Sit down for a moment and the whole thing is just like a mad, mad state. And I’m talking to intelligent people, I think they are, who came to hear me. And I’m addressing 2,600 and they’re turning away 1,500. And there’s another theater that’s at another 750, and that overflows. And yet here I am, like a woman, a pregnant woman, almost at the end of her time. That’s what Blake is talking about.1205 ¶22

So I’m going to ask my friend to tell her to read that second chapter. And all the symptoms that she’s going through now, are glorious. They’re perfectly wonderful. And I would not raise one finger to stop them, or to divert them. First of all, I couldn’t. It is a pattern. And so I tell everyone here, until this birth takes place, you can’t return. But it will take place. As we are told, no man can enter the new age, called the kingdom of God, unless he is born from above. But when he is born from above, it will be followed in this manner. As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so will the Son of Man be lifted up. That comes later. The first act, then 139 days later, comes the discovery of the fatherhood of God, and 123 days later, making it 262, comes the ascent into heaven like a fiery serpent, and then 998 days later, making it 1260, comes the descent of the holy spirit in the form of a dove, and then the whole thing is over.1205 ¶23

And you are now, still here, you have borne the cross the allotted span, but you’re going to be here to tell it, and you will tell it to the very end, and that any will come like this, but you have told it to encourage those who are on the verge of it. Because everyone has to wear the cross for the allotted span. And then at the end, it is split — the pine is split in two, from top to bottom. Revealing — and how on earth can anyone tell it more beautifully than Blake told it, at the end of his Jerusalem, almost at the end. And here he is looking at it, and he said, “Oh my divine redeemer and creator.” He said, “I behold the visions of my deadly sleep of six thousand years, dazzling around thy skirts like a serpent of precious stones and gold. I know it is myself, O my divine creator and redeemer.” Now he didn’t spell it out. I’ve tried tonight to spell it out for you. But you see it, and you know — it doesn’t make sense, it’s a form of madness. How can you look at molten gold that’s pulsing and alive and know it is yourself? You look into a mirror and you will say, I know that’s my reflection, that’s myself. But to look at this, it has no form. It’s golden, molten, liquid light. And yet you know it more surely that it’s you than you know when you look into a mirror. And as you know it, you fuse with it. You are now the mold that it takes. And you know exactly what mold you must have been, because the minute you take it up, like a fiery serpent, you go into heaven and it reverberates like thunder. So that’s the being that you are.1205 ¶24

So when you read the 82nd Psalm, which is the most difficult of all Psalms, so claim our scholars — how on earth can we interpret it, we can only guess at it. “God has taken his place in the divine council. In the midst of the gods, he holds judgment. And now he speaks: I say you are gods, sons of the most high, all of you. Nevertheless, you will die like men.”1205 ¶25

So when one comes into the world and claims what he does, they pick up stones, for they tell him who his father is on earth. They pick up stones to stone him, and he says to them, “for what do you stone me? For what good work?” And they say to him, “for no good work, but for your blasphemy, for you, being a man, make yourself God.” And he said to them, “is it not written in your law, I say you are gods?” Now he is quoting something two thousand years before, and he is quoting it as though it’s taking place now. I say to you, that’s what he’s telling them, that you are gods, for it’s written in your law that you are gods, and scripture cannot be broken. If then he calls you gods because you heard the word of God, do you say that he whom the Father consecrated and sent into the world — that’s he, because he said, “I am the Son of God.” Now he is telling them that they are the sons of God, but they won’t believe it. They claim they are the sons of Abraham born after the flesh, and he’s telling them they are sons of God, but they will not know it until they experience that which he has. And so he has suffered these things. And to suffer is to experience these sensations, to know them from actual experience.1205 ¶26

And so they pick up stones. They know your father and your mother and your brothers and your sisters, and we know all about you, and you make these extravagant claims. So that’s the being that you really are.1205 ¶27

And I cannot tell anyone in the world the glory that is in store for them, when they are lifted up and they actually find themselves clothed in that body, but more beautiful than ever, that they empty themselves of in order to come down here. You didn’t begin in any swamp. You didn’t begin in any little thing called a tadpole. These are garments that you annexed. You penetrated these bodies and annexed the brains of them. But you are the sons of God who did it. And to do it, you can’t pretend you’re doing it. You had to completely empty yourself of your glory to take this form of the cross. And you can’t pretend. But you will play the allotted time, and after you’ve played it, the fullness of time, then you will hear the call.1205 ¶28

And you hear — a lady called me this week. Each, I read home last Monday night, I was thrilled with what you said, I am disturbed. I was talking of the betrayer, and here is Judas, and I was speaking highly of Judas, for no one could betray a man without knowing the man’s secret. For no man knows the secret of God but the Spirit of God, so if he betray God, he has to know God. He couldn’t betray what he doesn’t know. And then he quotes Mark. Well, again, he finds Christ adding to. The same quote that you find in Luke does not quote what Mark does. Mark is basic, granted. What Mark does, Mark is basic, granted, but our scribes and transcribers, they have to build their own little philosophy of life. Luke only claims the story of the betrayal, but the word translated woe, if you look it up in your concordance, it means who, which, what, that. In other words, who is that? The same, that, for asking about Judas. What will happen to that man? What is that to thee? He knew the secret, and at the very end they did not know the secret. They thought they knew it, but they did not know the secret.1205 ¶29

And you read the story of the scripture, and we are told that Joseph was the father, that he disappears when the boy reaches the age of 12, and denies the parents. Well, who is Joseph? Read the genealogy in Matthew. It begins, “this is the book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David.” Now read the genealogy. Joseph is the father of Jesus. But in the genealogy, his father is Jacob. That is, Joseph’s father is Jacob. Yet in the dream, when the angel appears to Joseph in a dream, he said, “Joseph, son of David, fear not to take unto thee, Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived by her is of the Holy Spirit.” But he addresses him as Joseph, son of David. And the book begins, “a book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, son of David.” But Joseph in scripture is the dreamer. He is the beginning of the forgiveness of sin, for he said to his brothers, in the end of the great plot which is Genesis, at the very end, the 50th chapter, “you meant evil against me but God meant it for good,” and he forgave them. That’s the beginning of the forgiveness of sin, and he was called the dreamer. When the dreamer awakes, he is the Lord Jesus Christ. So he becomes his own father.1205 ¶30

And what was Joseph called in Numbers? Moses changed his name from Joseph. It’s called Oshea, but Oshea means Joseph. He changed his name from Oshea to Joshua. And Joshua means Jesus. And Jesus is the Lord God Jehovah. And Jesus is the Lord God Jehovah. Can’t you see the mystery unfolding?1205 ¶31

So here — “do not be afraid, Joseph, son of David, to take unto you Mary, your wife,” for he addresses him as the son of David. And the book begins, “Jesus Christ, the son of David.” But Joseph is the dreamer, and this comes to him in a dream. He is a dreamer.1205 ¶32

So he begins the dream in the 37th chapter of Genesis. And he begins to dream that all the things will come and bow to him, the sun and the moon and the stars, and then he told his father, and the father said, what, your mother and I will bow before you? And the brothers could not believe for one moment that 11 stars, meaning 11 of them, will bow before him. And they plotted to sell him into slavery, so they sold him into slavery, as you are sold into slavery. You emptied yourself and became a slave. And the dreamer in you is Joseph.1205 ¶33

But you’re told, “I will raise up out of your body” — to whom is he speaking? He’s speaking to David. “When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your father, I will raise up your son after you, who shall come forth from your body.” If it comes forth from your body and your name is David, then it’s your son, but “I, the Lord, will be his father, and he shall be my son.” So Joseph is the dreamer, a man, but when he wakes, he is the Lord Jesus Christ. You see the mystery?1205 ¶34

So who is that? Not woe. You and I have certain associations with words. You hear the word suffer, you think of grief, you think of pain, and all it means is simply to experience a sensation. For joy and woe are woven fine, a garment for the soul divine, not all joy, not all woe, they are woven fine in this world, when we eat of the tree of good and evil. And when we come to the end, then the spirit that was trapped willingly is set free by the splitting of the body from top to bottom, and it ascends like the fiery serpent. It’s set free, and the long-lost rank, which is the Son of God, is restored. But now, a noble, he is the Father. He awakes as his Father, having gone through the horrors, bearing his portion for the allotted time.1205 ¶35

Now let us go into the silence. Thank you. Good.1205 ¶36

Now, are there any questions, please? No questions? Well, until the next time. Thank you.1205 ¶37

The Eternal Father

[…] one may not know it, but he really is seeking for the eternal Father. He is seeking for power, he thinks, for fame, for health, all these things in the world; but what he is really seeking for is the core, the cause of it all. The fatherhood of God is the central doctrine of the Bible. The individual will one day transform this doctrine into a first-person, present-tense experience. And so long as it is taken from experience, a doctrine is valid and defendable. I tell you from experience it is true. One day you will discover the core, the cause of the whole vast world and all within it, with all of its horrors. And that core, believe it or not, is not only God the everlasting Father, but God the everlasting Father is infinite love. How could you conceive of it now when you see such horrors in the world? And God the Father is infinite love.1145 ¶1

When I search the scriptures, we start in the early passages. He first presents himself as Almighty. To Abraham, Isaac and to Jacob I made myself known unto them as El Shaddai, God Almighty, but by my name—which is called Jehovah, which is translated I AM, and we speak of it as the Lord—I did not make myself known. That begins with the revelation to what is known as Moses. As we told you, these characters are not persons; these are eternal states, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, all of them, eternal states. When one reaches a state called Moses…and the word means “to be born.” It’s the old perfective of the Egyptian verb “to be born.” Men and scholars have played upon the word and because it is made up of Mem Shin He, they call it “to draw out.” You can turn it around and get the word “name” out of it, Heshem. You can take the middle letter, put it in the front, Shema, you get “heaven.” But heaven is within you. There is something to be drawn out from in man. And from within man is heaven; and you’re drawing out a name. Take the name Moses and turn it around, it spells name, Heshem. What is being drawn out?1145 ¶2

The word [Moses] means “to be born.” There is something to be born that comes out of the depths of man…a name…the fulfillment of that which is coming out. It comes out in detail, but it comes out in sections. First: Almighty. Then it comes out as I AM. Finally it comes out as Father. We find that all through the gospel of John. He does not omit I AM, but he tells you “I AM the Father. He who sees me has seen the Father. How can you ask me to show you the Father? I have been so long with you and yet you do not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father”. No one understood it, no one grasped it. For, if you are a father, well then, there must be a son. You can’t be a father unless there’s a child. And he speaks about a son from the beginning. He promises a son to the first being to whom he reveals himself as might; that’s Abraham, the state called Abraham, which is faith.1145 ¶3

You enter the state of faith and you hear the most fantastic, the most incredible story in the world: God’s plan of salvation. To this state he promises a son and that son is called Isaac, it’s also a state. Here is now the beginning, the shaping of the unbegotten. You must not see Isaac as the product of generation but the shaping of the unbegotten. So here, the formation begins; it’s a prototype of what is finally coming out. You meet him now in Isaiah, “Unto us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called”—and now we have four—“Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace”. Here are four names given. In Isaiah, in Ezekiel, we find all these four-fold. The great poets, like a Blake, he speaks of the four-fold man. But in Ezekiel so much is said of the four-fold man, the four faces of man. Here we find in Isaiah the four names of a presence that is being born.1145 ¶4

How do I know that this one is coming out? Well, these are now signs, these are signs and portents. A child is born and that a son is given, two entirely different things. Not the child becomes the son; a child is born. It’s only a signal of something taking place in the individual as he moves towards the discovery of the fatherhood of God…for it’s a child. Now comes, a son is given. It’s entirely different from the child. Here, when I see the son, I know myself the Father. When I see the child, I only know I went through the strangest experience of being awakened from a long, long imposed sleep. It’s the resurrection of man, and it’s followed instantly by the birth of the man from above, symbolized in that of a little child that is born, wrapped in swaddling clothes. It’s only a sign…that’s all that it is.1145 ¶5

Now comes, as he unfolds, he finds a son is standing before him, that given. The little one is born, he comes out. He is born in the same way that a child is born. But he is being born, and the child symbolizes it. But when it comes to the son, it’s entirely different, it’s now given: And “God so loved the world he gave his only begotten Son”. Well, who is God’s only begotten Son? The 2nd Psalm tells us, “I shall tell of the decree of the Lord: He said unto me, ‘Thou art my son, today I have begotten thee’”. He brings forth a son. Well, David is not a person as you are a person, as I am a person. David is the sum total of all the generations of men and all of their experiences fused into one great whole; and that concentrated time into which all the generations are fused, and from which they all spring, the ancients personified as eternity, and called it David. David is the Olam, “And whose son are you, young man?” Young man, Olam. “Inquire whose son the stripling is”. Stripling: Olam. “Whose son is that youth, Abner?” “As your soul liveth, O king, I do not know.” Young man, youth, and, here, stripling, all the same word meaning eternity, the word Olam. “I have put eternity into the minds of men, yet so that they cannot find out what I have done from the beginning to the end”. And that word translated “eternity in the minds of men” is Olam.1145 ¶6

So what did he put into the mind of man? God himself entered death’s door, the human skull. And because the Son is with the Father, he took the Son with him. And so, in the beginning the story begins, “Father, I see the fire and I see everything, but where is the lamb for the gift offering?” “I have the wood, here is the fire, but where is the lamb?” He said, “The Lord will provide himself the lamb, my Son”. The Lord gives himself as the burnt offering. He enters death’s door, the human skull, and lays down in the grave of man with his Son in his bosom, and shares with man—who is dead, who he’s now going to stir into a living being, an animated body, and share with him—all of his visions of eternity, the horrors of the world. And then, when he brings him forth and he awakens from that dream, by then he is God. And if God is a father when he entered, taking with him his Son within his bosom, well then, he in whom he awakens is the father. If he is a father, then there’s a son.1145 ¶7

So now John begins with these words—not the beginning but the first chapter—“No one has ever seen God; but the only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has made him known”. No one has ever seen God, and yet the same Book of John makes the statement, “No one has seen him but he who is from God”. He was born of God. He who is from God, he has seen God. His form you have never seen, but I have seen him. His face you have never seen, said he, but I have seen him, for I am from him. He sent me and sent me into the world. He who sent me is with me, so if you see me, you see him who sent me. Here you find the most profound teaching in the Book of John. When you see me you see him who sent me, for he and I are one. I and the Father are one. I dwell in him and he dwells in me, and we are one.1145 ¶8

Well, how do I know that? You wait. You know it in this manner, “No one, but no one, knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him”. So, “What think ye of the Christ? Whose son is he?” “The son of David,” they said. And he replied, “Why then did David in the spirit call him Father?” If David in the spirit called him Father—the word is called the Lord, but the Lord is Father, it’s Adonai in script. But you do not always use the sacred name of Yod He Vau He, and we speak of the Adonai meaning “my Lord.” My Lord is the name used for the Lord, the Father, and a son always referred to his father as “my Lord” or Adonai. So, “Why then does David call him Lord? If then David thus calls him Lord, how can he be David’s son?”.1145 ¶9

So, here he declares, David called me Father, in fulfillment of the 89th Psalm. “I have found David…and he has cried unto me, ‘Thou art my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation’”. For, he comes now only to fulfill the prophetic word. One day you experience this and you boldly proclaim the prophetic word, and then leave entirely into his hands your fate. If they stone you with the literal truth of the world…for they know who your earthly father is. So in the 8th of John they said, “Who is your Father? Where is your Father?” He said, “You know neither me nor my Father, if you had known me you would have known my Father also”. But you do not know me, or you would not ask that question. For had you really known me you would have known God, for he and I are inseparable. He didn’t send me as another; he who sent me is with me. He has never left me, for we are fused, and we cannot be separated. We are one.1145 ¶10

Limited, yes, to a garment of flesh and blood while I tell the story, but you can’t separate me, he said, from the one with whom I am fused. I am fused with the Father and share with the Father everything the Father is. He’s a father and he has one son, and that son is the sum total of all the generations of men brought into one solid wonderful externalized person, and it is David, “a man after my own heart.” I brought forth everything. A man after my own heart…I found him…he is David my Son. Everyone contains in himself first the Father, but he doesn’t know it; and the Father contains the Son, for the Son is in the bosom of the Father. And it takes the Son to reveal the Father. That’s a real explosion when it takes place. The whole brain seems to explode, and standing before you, what you brought forth now, “Today I have begotten you,” I’ve brought you forth, the same David. “Thou art my son” and you see your son. The relationship is so altogether unique, there’s nothing like it. But you bring forth that which was buried in the very bosom of your being, and that being was the Father. By then you and he are one.1145 ¶11

Now I tell you, how do you know this? Well, if I tell you other important, very, well, fantastic things and you try it and it works, are you not inclined then to believe this? So he tells this story, and then he tells other stories. “This is my body”… he takes a piece of bread and breaks it, and he offers them bread. He said, “Eat it; it is my body.” Then he offered them a cup and he said, “Drink of it, all of you; this is my blood”. “Except you eat my body and drink my blood, you have no life in you; but if you eat my body and drink my blood then you have life in you”. Is that true? He tells you, whatever you believe, if you really believe it, your Father in heaven will do it for you; that your Father in heaven sees in secret and rewards you openly. He sees in secret and rewards you openly if you believe it. “If you don’t believe that I am he, then you die in your sins,” you don’t believe it. If you believe that I am he, meaning the Father, and he sees in secret what he sees he’ll reward you openly. Now don’t be deceived, he isn’t deceived, whatever you believe you’re going to reap, whatever. It’s called planting. Whatever you sow, so shall you reap.1145 ¶12

Can I prove this? You can prove it in the immediate present. A lady writes, and here I have her letter, “My dream began…we are three, all dressed in a pale, pale baby blue. There are three plates, on each plate there are three pieces of food. And a voice said, ‘You’re eating break food’ and I said, ‘You mean, breakfast.’ The voice answered, ‘No, break food. That’s what you’re eating, you’re eating break food.’ Then Bud, she called him by name, Bud gave the blessing. ‘And there is a time’…I can’t quite quote it, it’s a prayer that is his…‘a time to work and a time to play, a time to go and a time to stay.’ At that, after the blessing was over, I reached with my right hand for the food, the break food. I reached so far that I was falling off the bed physically and woke, startled, and so much so I woke my husband.”1145 ¶13

Eating what? The doctrine of Christ, that’s what you’re eating. People go to church and they take the little what’s called communion, the bread and the wine. Do you know what communion really is? Listen to it carefully, for if you eat it, if you eat this bread and drink this wine, your Father is seeing it, and what he sees you do, he’ll reward you openly in the immediate present, if you actually take communion. What is communion? Imagination is the means of communion; it is the soul’s bread and wine. So I stand here and think of a friend, and my friend all of his dreams have collapsed, can’t see any daylight, not a thing. But I see him now completely reaping every dream of his, and he’s radiant in all the things that I see. Haven’t I resurrected him from what he seemed to be, a dead person with all of his dreams failing, like the Pharaoh?1145 ¶14

Well, do I really believe it? Can I say I’m seeing someone in my mind’s eye; don’t tell anyone, for my Father is seeing in secret? And so I see him in secret, well, who is seeing it? Well, I am. Well, what’s the Father’s name? I AM. So my Father is seeing exactly what I am imagining, and so this is the means of communion. This is eating the doctrine, this is drinking his blood, make it alive. And as I actually lose myself in this state and see the fulfillment, the resurrection of my friend before my mind’s eye, in absolute confidence now I go.1145 ¶15

Where did he do it? At the tomb of Lazarus, right at the tomb, he actually called him forth from the dead. If you would but believe, you would see the resurrection. Oh, I know in the end, they took it on this level. No. Now, “For I am the resurrection and the life.” At that very moment when he collapsed and is but nothing, you simply, in the Silence… standing at a bar I would do it, standing any place. You don’t need a church, don’t need a synagogue, don’t need some so-called holy place; wherever you stand that’s the holy place, for you are the temple of the living God. And so, you’re always in temple wherever you are, for you are the temple. And you bring before your mind’s eye a friend, and you know his request, and you see him the embodiment of that which he would like to be. See it clearly in your mind’s eye and rejoice, as though you could say “Thank you, Father, that thou hast heard me. But I know thou always hear me”. Didn’t I hear myself? Didn’t I see what I was doing? Well, who is seeing it? If I am seeing what I am doing and he who watches it is I AM, am I not seeing it? Can I fool myself? Well, did I believe it? Unless you believe that I am he, the one who is perceiving it, well, then you die in your sins. If you really believe that I am he, the one perceiving it is the God, the Father of all, well then, what I am seeing all things being possible to him he’ll resurrect it.1145 ¶16

Now in the same letter comes this. She said, “I sell real estate. And in the Valley, this family of five, father, mother, and three little children, he was transferred to San Francisco, and, naturally, they put the house on the market, and it was given to me to sell. I had the listing. A month went by, she’s more than anxious to join her husband and take her children to San Francisco, and no sale, not even an offer. So every day she called me. I said to her, would you do something for me? She said, ‘What?’ I said, would you go to bed tonight…first of all, let me ask you a question, were you in San Francisco what would you do? Well, she said, ‘I’d go horseback riding.’ She said, when you retire tonight, would you simply start riding, in your Imagination, riding a horse, and remember when you were in Los Angeles, as you mount the horse, ride the horse, and you are in San Francisco. To prove that you are in San Francisco, remember when you were in Los Angeles.”1145 ¶17

“Two weeks later, she called up to say that she had this offer, and to come on over.” The next day was Sunday. When she went over and saw the terms, it was exactly the price she wanted, exactly the terms, and the length of escrow, the period of escrow. My friend, who made the sale, said, “Isn’t that wonderful!” to this lady who had sold the house, and she replied concerning the wonder of it all, “You do not know, really…you’ve changed my entire way of thinking, everything about it.” And she wondered how, how could I change your thinking? And then that’s when she was reminded of what she had done. And my friend said to her, “Isn’t it wonderful, tomorrow morning when you get up you don’t have to, unless you want to, you don’t have to make the beds.” She said, “That is not the wonderful part; I don’t have to ride that darned horse through the night, for I have saddle sores from riding.”1145 ¶18

And then she said, “She went to San Francisco with her family. There they are, and then she called me, only two weeks later”—this all happened between October the 1st and writing the letter to me on the 21st of this month—“she called me two weeks later to tell me that she is now buying this lovely home of her dreams, and described the home, exactly what she wanted.” And then told her, “You have no idea how you changed my thinking.” She said, “This is where my cup today really is running over, for she said to me, ‘I now know that imagining creates reality.’”1145 ¶19

So here, someone has proven beyond all doubt at least the doctrine is true based upon this level…even if she can’t quite grasp this peculiar mystery of the fatherhood of God, who is buried in every child born of woman. Being a father he has a son; I tell you who that son is, the son is David. One day, to prove that you really are the father you’re going to bring him forward, but you can’t bring him forward until you’ve played all the parts in the world. Not one can you fail to play, you can’t. You’ve played them all. I have played every conceivable thing in this world, the bum, the royal person, scavenger, the outcast, the judge and the judged, the jailer and the jailed, but everything. And having played all, it all adds up, and then you bring forth a son, which is the quintessence, the result of all the generations of men, because you played them all. Having played them all, then you bring him forth. He is the result of your journey through this world of sin and death. Then you will know the Everlasting Father.1145 ¶20

There is only one savior in the world. Now we have divided Jesus Christ from the one we speak of in the Old Testament as Jehovah. That’s a strange, peculiar concept, a completely false concept, as though there were two Gods. There aren’t two Gods. The word Jesus, the word Jehovah, the word Joshua, means the same thing. The root is Yod He Vau, the same in all, and it means “to save; Jehovah is Savior.” The whole story say now of Job is the story of man, and the word Job means “Where is my father, O God?” Where is my father? We’re told that David took the city of Zion and renamed it the city of David. Now, the one who really took it, his name is Joab, if you read the 2nd Samuel carefully. Joab took it and the word Joab means “Jehovah is Father.” That’s what it means, Joab, “Jehovah is Father.” Job is “Where is my Father, O God?” So he’s asking, with all the tribulations around him, “Where is my Father?” If I could only find the cause, the source, of all these things in my world!1145 ¶21

Well, here if you read the story of Joab, he very kindly set himself apart when the city was about to fall. He conquered, but then put himself apart and allowed King David to enter and take the credit, and name it after himself. That’s the sacrifice of the Father for the Son. He gave all credit to the Son and called the Son his glory. So Joab conquered the city and then as it was about to fall, it was inevitable, imminent, he stepped aside and invites the king to enter victoriously and then name it after himself…the everlasting sacrifice of the Father. So here, the Father is buried in every man, and is playing all the parts. Again, he brings out his only begotten son, David.1145 ¶22

But you can take it on this level and you can actually this night eat the bread and drink the wine; for Imagination is the means of communion. You can sit right here or when you’re riding home, you bring one before your mind’s eye…as you bring him and you see him transformed into the man that he would like to be, you’re eating the doctrine, you’re eating the bread and you’re drinking the blood, you’re drinking the wine. For in the blood is life, and you’re making it alive, the whole thing is alive before you. But do you believe it? For, except you believe that I am he…and I’m seeing in secret…I am seeing exactly what I’m doing, I can’t fool myself. So I’m actually seeing in secret, I’m communing. I’m communing with God, but God is I AM so I am communing with myself.1145 ¶23

Now if you put it to the test and it works, does it really matter what others think? What does it matter what the whole vast world would think if you test it and in the testing it proves itself? What would it matter what the world would think? So you can take all the little pieces of wafer in the world and drink all the wine in the world; that is not communion. Communion means, well, communion with God, and, therefore, forgiveness of sin. Well, you forgive the man all of the missing of the mark in his world. He was missing it, you became aware of it, and then you did it. Did it to whom? You did it to yourself, because he’s yourself pushed out. There is nothing but yourself. So you became aware of someone in this world who was in need…well, there is no other but God. So you take every aspect of yourself and by communion you free him, you forgive him. So the supreme test of this doctrine is the forgiveness of sin. And only God can forgive sin. It tests your ability to enter into and partake of the nature of the opposite. So a man doesn’t look well, then you put yourself right into the state where he does look well, and persuade yourself that he has never been healthier, or that he has never looked healthier. And to the degree that you are self-persuaded of what you are imagining to that degree he becomes it. If he becomes it, then what could anyone tell you?1145 ¶24

So, “Thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and the prudent and revealed them unto babes”. The scholars have searched and searched and they cannot find the Christ of whom the scriptures wrote, and whose coming they foretold, they can’t find him. They have searched…and every day you find some confirmation in the press by the so-called wise scholars of the world. They’ll take every word and analyze it, tear it apart, but they can’t find him, because he comes only by revelation. He reveals himself to the babes, the unlearned of the world, not to the scholars. We have volumes after volumes, they are trying so hard to unravel him from the script, and they can’t find him there at all. He’s not in the dead letter, won’t find him there. He comes from within. And you take this external testimony and see how it parallels it, but it’s not there, it’s in you. The whole thing is in you, the scripture is in you. The very words you’re going to hear, you’re going to hear them from within you. So no man sat down to compose the scripture; it’s not of human composition. The whole thing is something springing from the depths of one’s soul…the whole thing comes out. This is the eternal Father unfolding in man. So every child born of woman will awaken as God the Father; and God the Father personified in scripture we speak of as Jesus Christ.1145 ¶25

Now, we’re reading it in the gospel…you ask, well, who are they, who are these evangelists called Matthew, Mark, Luke and John? Nobody knows. Anonymous names…all of these names are anonymous; no one knows who they are. What story were they telling? They were telling their own experience, and they told it in the third-person, singular, and called it Jesus. Well, Jesus means Jehovah. But they were telling their own experience and signed the anonymous names, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. But no one knows who Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are, any more than they know the authors of the five books called the law of Moses. They only go by initials. We have the J manuscript, the E manuscript and the P manuscript, but nobody knows who signed J, E and P. There is no book signed Genesis, or signed Exodus, or Leviticus, or Numbers, or Deuteronomy. They signed three little letters: there is the J manuscript, E manuscript and the P manuscript. You bring out these manuscripts and nobody knows these unknown authors. They’re all called Moses, but Moses is not a person. It’s an eternal state through which the great revelation of the name comes and the law is given.1145 ¶26

But who knows who they are who wrote it? Who knows who these evangelists are? They were telling and relating their own experience, that’s what they were doing. But they told it in the third-person…man would then accept it. If you could tell it in the third-person, well, then they would think you aren’t bragging; therefore, he’s telling it because he saw it, it was someone else. And man then builds this third-person into some strange idol and they call it Jesus Christ, and make all kinds of things about him. But these unknown authors are telling their own experience; that’s Jesus Christ. The whole story that was foretold in the Old Testament unfolds in man. And the men in whom the story unfolded, they told it, but wrote it in the third-person, singular, and then put into the mouth of one they called Jesus all these things. Called him Jesus, why?—for he will save his people from their sins.1145 ¶27

Well, who is the savior? Read it in the 43rd chapter of Isaiah, “I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your savior…and besides me there is no savior”. And read what the one they called Mary said in the beginning of Luke when she gave this grand praise to her Savior, the Lord Jehovah…just, “My Savior.” There is no other Savior. Well, who is he? He reveals himself as I AM…“that’s my name forever, and by this name I must be known throughout all generations”. But today man has put a little tag on it, and they do not know the word Jesus means Jehovah. When these evangelists write, they’re writing their own experience. But they didn’t call themselves and say, well now, they addressed me as Mark or Matthew or Luke or John. They told it all in the third-person, singular, and, here, they called him Jesus. Then the churches organized around this state and make an idol out of him.1145 ¶28

I tell you, the whole drama unfolds in you, and it’s Jehovah, the only Lord, unfolding in man. And he only has one Son and that Son is David. David is […], it’s unique, the only one of its kind; brought forth not of the flesh, brought forth not of the blood of man, nor the will of man, but of God. God plays all the parts and then at the end brings forth the result, and the result of playing it all is personified as a child, his heart himself, that’s the essence of it all, “My Son in whom I am well pleased.” So I have found David. I have found a man in whom I am well pleased, he said, a man who will do all my will. Therefore, it was God’s will doing it all, and then it came forth personified as this eternal youth called David. And so, if in the end, and it will be you bring him forth as I have brought him forth, and a friend of mine present he has brought him forth, and we all bring him forth the same David, not another, are we then not one? Is not then the confession of faith of Israel the greatest confession ever made? “Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord”. Are we not the one Lord with the one begotten Son, and in the end, the Elohim, which is plural, the compound unity, one made up of others, all gathered together and brought back into the one state? And then, what happens then?—another great drama, for another expansion.1145 ¶29

So, what is his name? Almighty God. These are his names, and his name shall be Wonderful Counselor. Well, who is the Wonderful Counselor? We’re told the Holy Spirit. “I will send the Counselor.” So who is the Holy Spirit then, if the same one now becomes Mighty God? Mighty God is El Shaddai, and that was called Jehovah’s first revelation to man, but he’s not the same then as the Holy Spirit. There aren’t two. And what is his third name? Everlasting Father. And who said that? He said, Holy Father, I have made manifest thy name and the name thou gavest me I have revealed to them. Well, he gave me the name of Father by giving me his Son. And so, “Keep them in thy name, that thou gavest me, that they may be one as we are one.” So now, keep them in the same love, the love with which thou lovest me, that we are one.1145 ¶30

But he called himself, now, the Holy Father. But the Holy Father now we’ve seen is the Mighty God, and he is the Holy Spirit over the Wonderful Counselor. Here he comes now to this wonderful state of the Everlasting Father, the Father forever. And his final one is Prince of Peace. There is no peace until you find him. That comes at the very end, the Prince of Peace, and of his reign there shall be no end. That peace is broken only when to transcend this fabulous drama a new drama is conceived. So the poet said, “Be patient. Our playwright will show in some fifth act what this wild drama means”…then a new act. So we have the four acts and then when the curtain comes down on the last scene of the last act, it’s only for a moment to enjoy that seeming infinite peace—it’s all over and it came out just as foretold only to transcend it. And who wouldn’t want to transcend it even though the drama may put this one to shame? So be patient and our playwright will show in some fifth act what this wild drama means.1145 ¶31

So I tell you, what I’ve told you this night is true. I’ve experienced it. I’ve experienced every bit of scripture. The whole thing has unfolded right within me, just like a tree. And you can’t stop it, the time has come, the time is fulfilled and the kingdom of heaven is at hand, and not a thing, seemingly, that you’re doing consciously about it. It was simply planted in you. As we’re told in Habakkuk, “The vision has its own appointed hour; it ripens, it shall flower. If it be long, wait; for it is sure and it will not be late”. Not late for itself, the whole thing comes on time. No one knows that moment in time when the first thing appears. It just comes so suddenly upon you.1145 ¶32

But tonight you can partake of communion without going to any church. Without taking any cup of wine, without taking any wafer, you can eat the body and drink the blood. You do it simply by bringing into your mind’s eye a friend, and seeing that friend as he would like to be seen. Just see it. Now, do you believe it? You’re eating it…you’re actually drinking the blood, which is the doctrine, that’s what it means. Take my doctrine, take my teaching: “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.” If you take my yoke upon you and learn from me, then you are eating what I am teaching, and that is the wafer, that is the wine. It is Imagination that is the means to commune, can’t commune without it. If you believe in what you are doing, what should happen? The whole thing will happen, come to pass, just like the lady in the selling of the house.1145 ¶33

Though I have many others…but they didn’t fit tonight. Many of them are marvelous. One is called “The Maverick,” which I’ll take one night. Another one…a gentleman who made an effort to turn this thing off for me, he wrote me a fantastic one. It will fit before I close. I thought this one would fit tonight, in showing you the Father does dwell within us and he reveals himself on different levels. And he told you how to eat his body, how to drink his blood, and told you what would happen, for he sees you in secret, sees what you are doing in secret, and he rewards you openly. So you do it, eat it, drink it, and then you’re assimilating, and now before your eyes will come the answer to what you’ve done. In her case, one month went by, nothing happened. And she asked the lady to do something for her, “Go to bed and do what you would do were you in San Francisco.” “Well, I’d ride a horse.” “Then ride the horse.” At the end, she was so happy that it happened because she got tired of the saddle sores from riding her horse.1145 ¶34

So I ask you to do the same thing, no matter what it is. What would you do if it were true? Well then, do it. And you have no room for boasting, because your Father’s doing it. You do it in your mind’s eye, and then it happens in a way that you do not know. This lady didn’t go out and pull the buyer in. It was there for one solid month and no one came, not even an offer. But by doing the end, then it pulls all things into place. How can you boast? Who pulled the buyer in? Who pulled the terms in, exactly what she wanted as to price, exactly the terms and exactly the period of escrow? All came, just as they should come.1145 ¶35

Now let us do the same thing here. And there isn’t one that you should turn away, because you can’t meet one stranger in this world. There is no stranger; it’s all God. So turn no one away, no matter what he wants. How easy it is to imagine that the thing is done, and then let it be done.1145 ¶36

Now let us go into the Silence.1145 ¶37

I look into my daughter’s eyes and I am so thrilled that she is my daughter. I’m so happy whenever she comes home. I could never be too tired to welcome her, and she could never stay late enough for me. So, that feeling about, my feeling towards my daughter…and I believe I am the father in a physical sense. But I don’t have to believe in the sense that I believe in this when I meet David. This is a relationship that seems to be in the very beginning, but wasn’t brought forth to confirm my journey until the end. For he was in the bosom of the Father before the Father entered me; and when the Father became me and shared fatherhood with me, making us one, then he had to come out to prove that I am the Father. And that is a relationship that you cannot in any way disturb. Yet, here I am one of ten children that survived, there were twelve of us, and my father…I know, that is I believe, how would I know that he is my father? How would I know that my mother is my mother? My mother knows and my father believed. And so, here was this lovely feeling…and I loved him, in fact, I don’t question the fact that he is my father. But my father had a very lovely expression when he toasted when he wanted a drink, and he said, “Here’s to the man that rocks his child, and rocks his child alone, for there’s many a man who rocks another man’s child and thinks he’s rocking his own.” That was my father…having sired, or thought he did, twelve of us. And so, in this new relationship of David and yourself as the eternal Father, there is no doubt, none whatsoever. Not that I’ve ever doubted or the average man has ever doubted. I don’t think that the average man…in fact, he’s so proud that he could report the child, he’s thrilled beyond measure. I know I was. When I was told that my wife was pregnant it was nothing but joy. And when you first see the child and you take him in your arms, what a thrill to hold him! And to actually see your son do a fist, that’s a tremendous thrill. But it’s not the same feeling as when you see David. David is something entirely different. And every person, including every woman, is going to be the father of David. Because in the resurrection there is no sex; we are above the organization of sex. And we speak of him as Father. You dwell upon it, my dear.1145 ¶40

In the meanwhile, commune. Commune and take that wafer called the food that is broken. As this lady had the experience, it was break food. Not breakfast, it was break food. He took the bread and broke it, and then gave it. There were three that were present and there were three pieces of food on each plate. Three is associated with resurrection. So here, she knows the three and they were friends of hers, all three, she and the two. And so, she actually in the dream felt, “Well, isn’t that wonderful! This means resurrection.” But the whole drama begins with resurrection—that’s where the man awakens and comes out of the tomb. So, she had inward, I would say, inwardly a biblical suggestion the time is near for waking. All these signs…when these signs appear, then you will know the kingdom of heaven is at hand.1145 ¶41

Well, we were late in starting, but it is still late…and they may want to push us out. So thank you for coming. And the next one is on Monday. Thank you. Goodnight.1145 ¶42

I was quoting Tennyson. My dear, when David is revealed to you, you’re the most startled person in the world. See, I have in this world two children. At least, they were born by separate women and they told me I sired the child. I believe it implicitly. I really believe that I am the father of my daughter, Victoria, and my son, Joseph Neville, I do, but I have to take that on faith. They know that they are the mothers, and I believe I am the father. Well, when you meet David you don’t take anything on faith. It’s so obvious this is something started in the beginning. It’s a knowledge that not a thing could disturb. There is no argument that you could conceive that could disturb this relationship. It’s entirely different.1145 ¶39

The Mystery of Inspiration

Tonight’s subject is “The Mystery of Inspiration.” We are told that all scripture is inspired by God…that is, “God breathes.” It is defined as, well, how will I put it…a divine action upon the lives of certain people that qualified them to receive and communicate sacred revelations—the prophets, the apostles, the incurrent eyewitnesses. Many of them like the prophets do not know what they are receiving. As we are told, “The prophets who prophesy of the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired concerning this salvation; they inquired what person or time was indicated by the Spirit of Christ within them when they predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glory. It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you”. Their vision was foreshortened, so they saw as present what was really future.1144 ¶1

Now, the apostles are sent to point out the fulfillment of scripture. When they come into the world, sent by the risen Lord, they simply have the same experience, and they point out all parts of the Old Testament to show the fulfillment of scripture. It’s so difficult to get over to man, to an individual that he is God. They rebel at the very thought. They’ve been conditioned to believe that God is someplace in space, something outside of man. And they can’t believe that all that they behold, though it appears without, it is within, in their own wonderful human Imagination. It’s so difficult…they think it’s blasphemy when you speak to man and try to imply that he is God. He rebels against it.1144 ¶2

Listen to these words. You’ll find them in the 10th chapter of Matthew, “He who receives you receives me.” Now listen to it carefully, “He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives him who sent me”. Now we go to the 8th chapter of Romans and here we are told, “If Christ is in you, though the body is dead, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will raise you also through his Spirit who is in you”. Now, the very first that we quoted from the 10th chapter of Matthew should tell you that God is in you. Whatever you think of Jesus Christ, the Bible identifies the Lord God Jehovah with Jesus Christ. The writers of the New Testament identified the Christ that governed their lives with Jehovah, who influenced and inspired the prophets…one being. So here in this 8th of Romans the inspired writer known to us as Paul tells us that “If Christ is in you, though your body is dead”—and I can tell you from experience it is dead. I have stopped it. I have time and again moved into a certain society, arrested within me—not in you, in me—the activity that caused the animation that I am observing; and as I arrested it, everything stood still and it was just as dead as anything in a museum. If you walked into a museum and saw all the wonderful things round about you, they are dead, they are made of clay or marble. Well, I have seen people just like this, and then suddenly I desired it, and felt the motion within me, this possession as it were, that inspired state, I arrested it. As I arrested it, it all stood still. I walked among them and they were just as dead as dead could be.1144 ¶3

So he makes the statement, “If Christ is in you, though the body is dead”—and he states it quite clearly—“he who raised Christ from the dead will raise you also through his Spirit that dwells in you.” How to convince man that the Lord God Jehovah is in man, he is dreaming man, and in the end he will awaken as man? How to convince man that the prophets, whose vision was foreshortened and they always saw as present what really was future, and they told it in mysterious images and types? They say that Christ is the Rock…the Rock is Christ. “And of the Rock that begot you, you are unmindful, and you’ve forgotten the God that gave you birth”. They equate the Rock with God, the Lord God Jehovah.1144 ¶4

Then you sit in the Silence, thinking of nothing in particular and suddenly a rock appears before your vision, it’s a quartz. You look at it…it’s just simply a quartz, nothing much about it…and suddenly it becomes fragmented into numberless pieces. You look at this fragmented rock and then it molds itself into a human form seated in the lotus posture in deep, profound meditation. As you look at it, you recognize it to be yourself…you’re looking at yourself. Here is a rock, shapeless, a quartz, fragmented, gathered together and formed into the human form. It’s now a meditative figure and you’re looking at it and you see yourself. Then it begins to glow and it glows and glows and glows and when it reaches the limit of translucency it explodes. Then you realize the truth of the vision that one saw, that a Rock begot me.1144 ¶5

Out of the state of death comes life. You are the God spoken of in scripture. You came down into this world and took upon yourself the limit of contraction, the limit of opacity, which is man. And man is dead. Here, three and a half billion of us walking the earth, fighting and carrying on; and we’re fighting and carrying on because the being within us who makes us alive is dreaming and he hasn’t awakened. When he awakes, he puts an end to all the conflict. But until he awakens he thinks all of the animation is taking place independent of his perception of it and he doesn’t realize he is animating everything in his world; and his dreams are projected on the screen of space, and he’s fighting with his own visions, his own dreams. One day he awakens, and he awakens within the dead body; it’s a grave where he deliberately and purposely entered and began his dream. The whole vast world is his projected dream. One day he suddenly awakens within himself. When he awakens, the symmetry and the poetry of scripture and all the imagery of scripture surrounds him, everything surrounds him. He realizes then for the first time that he really is the central figure of the Bible; that it is written about him and it’s not written about anyone else. There is no one else, because God is one and his name is one…and his name is I AM. He awakens and he knows I am now awake, and he didn’t even realize that he was asleep.1144 ¶6

He was asleep in a body that really was dead, but he being life itself animated it…because he and the breath are one. In Hebrew and Greek the word “breath” is the same word. So he enters death, the body; his entrance is the breath entering. God breathed once and the body became animated. And this animated body with the dreamer within it is dreaming the world. One day he awakens from the dream of life, and then all the confusion comes to an end within him. Then at the very end after he tells his story—not everyone will believe it— having told his story or recorded his story, he takes off the garment of death and returns, but enhanced, to the being that he was before he entered the garment of death. For now there’s no limit to expansion, no limit to translucency; there was a limit set to contraction, to opacity, and that limit was the body of death which is man.1144 ¶7

Well, who would have thought that the imagery of the prophet was true when in the 32nd chapter of Deuteronomy he speaks of this Rock: “Of the Rock that begot you you are unmindful, and you have forgotten the God that gave you birth.” He equates the Rock with God. Then someone seated in the Silence, not thinking of anything in particular suddenly sees a huge quartz, a rock…not anything to write home about…just a rock. Then it fragments itself, and you realize that this one being, this universal being is diffused in all. Here is a universally diffused individuality that is…and the Rock’s name is I AM forever and forever. Well, you say “I am,” and I say “I am,” we all say “I am.” Well, everybody born of woman says “I am.” It’s a completely universally diffused individuality that is the fragmented Rock. You realize in the end that not a being on the outside exists independently of your perception of it. It’s all really within and you project it on the whole vast world. Everything is contained within you I don’t care what it is. So you desire this, that or the other, it is all contained within you.1144 ¶8

Now, this inspiration comes…not the whole Bible is inspired. There are certain passages in Paul’s letters he confesses are not inspired. When he passes his own personal opinion, it’s just as erroneous as mine…if it’s an opinion. If I tell you what I know from inspiration, what happened to me that’s true, can I find passages in the Old Testament that bear witness? I must have two witnesses: I must have a passage in the Word of God and I must have it actually parallel my own experience. If it parallels my experience, I have two witnesses. When two different persons agree in testimony it is conclusive. So I bring the Bible, the Word of God, and I bring my own experience and there they parallel. Here is the Rock that begot me. Well, I saw myself begotten out of a rock. I looked at this rock, the whole thing is fragmented, it gathers itself together, and here is a person seated in this wonderful lotus posture. I’m looking, and all of a sudden, why, I’m looking at myself. But not myself as I see when I shave in the morning, I am seeing the most glorious, the most beautiful being that I could ever imagine. Well, I’m certainly not that to myself when I shave in the morning or at any other time of the day for that matter. But this is myself raised to the nth degree of perfection. He’s in meditation and he’s meditating me. And I must be as perfect as he is perfect. When in his own eye, he who’s meditating me, I am as perfect as he is he awakes within me and I am he. But that being is eternal life and it came into a body that is dead, and started the dream of life. Well, that is true of everyone in the world…this completely diffused being. Everyone knows that he is, and everyone because he knows he is, is saying “I am,” and that is God’s name forever and forever.1144 ¶9

So there are passages in Paul when he begins to talk about marriage that are not inspired. He said…he confesses he’s not married, and he wishes that everyone was as he is. Well, if everyone was as he is, there would be no offspring. But he said that it’s far better to marry than to burn. In other words, it is far better to have union in what he calls the marriage state than to long for such satisfaction and burn rather than marry. Well, that is his opinion; that is not inspiration. When he condemns the homosexual in his letter to the Romans that’s his opinion, because he forgot scripture. Scripture is the Old Testament, and in the Old Testament God made everything and then he said it was good and very good. So he forgot that God made everything and pronounced it good when he begins to insert his own opinion. So not every word in scripture is inspired, but you will know the passages that are inspired; because as you awake you begin to unfold scripture. So he expounded to his disciples in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. Not everything concerning, but the things concerning, himself. Beginning with Moses and all the prophets and the psalms, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures those things that concerned him.1144 ¶10

Now, the only scripture that he had was the Old Testament; there was no other scripture. The New Testament came afterwards to point to passages in the Old Testament that he had pointed out. So when you read the New Testament, any passage quoted by the risen Lord from the Old (he only quotes from the Old Testament), you pay strict attention to it. In the 10th of John when he said, “So you condemn me for saying that I am the son of God,”, he makes the statement, “I and my Father are one”. He said, “Why do you condemn me for saying I am the son of God? Is it not written in your law”—and now he quotes the 110th Psalm—is it not written, “And the Lord said unto my Lord: ‘Sit at my right hand’”? And then he quotes the 82nd Psalm, Is it not written that “I say, ‘Ye are gods’”? “If it is said that you are gods and scripture cannot be broken, do you condemn me whom God consecrated and sent into the world?” So he’s quoting only scripture. Every passage he quotes or any passage quoted of him is quoting of the same Christ in you, but he is the risen Christ who is fulfilling scripture. The minute you awake within yourself you are the risen Christ. There aren’t a bunch of little Christs running around, only one; and one is being gathered together into one being.1144 ¶11

Eventually everyone will be sent. I can’t conceive…although we have different talents and we’re all called upon and given different talents as told in scripture…I still cannot believe that one is left out of the embrace, which is the insufflation of God; and therefore the minute that you stand in his presence you are qualified as an apostle. For the one outstanding requirement is to have seen the risen Lord. And so if I see him, I am qualified for apostleship, which means “qualified to be sent.” Well, if I am sent, then I go to experience scripture. Then I must tell it to everyone and point out the passages of scripture, meaning the Old Testament, to show the parallel between what has happened to me and what the Word of God said through his inspired prophets. So when the prophets inquired, it was said to them that you are serving not yourselves or your time, but you are serving our time. So it was not yet fulfilled for them to do it. And so now the time is here. Since the first one began and the first one awoke, from that moment on all are awaking. We are in the act of awakening as God who actually became man, and man being a dead being, he took upon himself death to prove his own power of overcoming death.1144 ¶12

So the inspired one…you can’t stop it. When it comes upon you, it comes unexpectedly, it comes suddenly, and no one knows. I know in my own case, whenever it happened to me it would happen when I’m sitting in my chair in the living room awake, or it would happen at night on the bed. But I can’t stop it. Whenever it happens I am possessed, and possessed as though something is wearing me. Then all of a sudden the vision appears and the ears are opened and everything. Then you know you are now seeing things that kings and prophets longed to see and did not, and you are hearing what they longed to hear and did not. You know the time had not fully come; but now it has come to you and suddenly you are seeing and hearing what they longed to see and hear, but they did not. Then the entire scripture is unfolding within you passage after passage.1144 ¶13

So you will know the inspired passages from what is taking place in you. Not everything is inspired; there were times when they wrote certain laws, dietary laws, based upon what they called the need of the time. But that is not inspired scripture. The inspired scripture you must fulfill, for that is the Word of God. So just as we have in the New Testament passages that are certainly not inspired, we have in the Old Testament passages that are not inspired and they enslave the minds of men. So he said, “You will deny the Word of God for the traditions of your fathers” and these traditions are man-made. If you’re going to accept the man-made traditions, you will never know the Word of God. But the Word of God being inspired whenever you awaken that’s what you’re going to fulfill. Everything that is inspired in scripture you fulfill.1144 ¶14

So the inspired Word of God comes to certain individuals…eventually to everyone. But as it unfolds, it comes to certain ones, for he is re-building his temple. The temple was purposely shattered. And now instead of having dead stones, we become living stones in the temple of God, and that is the body of God. The body of God is not any church, as the churches talk about. They speak of the church as the body of God; hasn’t a thing to do with the church. For the temple of God is not made with human hands; it is made of the redeemed. Everyone who has awakened becomes a living stone in the body of God, and it’s one body and one God, one Lord, one Spirit…and you are that one Lord. So listen to it carefully, “If the Spirit of Christ is in you, though the body is dead, he who raised Christ from the dead will raise you also through his Spirit that dwells in you.” Well, if he isn’t dwelling in me, he couldn’t raise me. And I know from my own experience when I awoke I didn’t see anyone else; there was no one lifting me up. But the wind was there, the breath was there, so the invisible God was present and present in me. But I saw no one other than myself.1144 ¶15

So I awoke within myself. The body was dead, and when I came out of it…if you’ve ever gone into a recovery room in a hospital…in my own case, in 1952 I had my gall bladder removed, and by then they had recovery rooms. This was in New York City. So they wheeled this body of mine into the recovery room. Instead of taking you back to your room on, maybe, ten or twenty floors below the operating room, if something went wrong, they’d have to simply wheel you back upstairs. So to avoid that, they wheel you out of the operating room into an adjoining room, so that if something goes wrong you can quickly be sent back into the operating room and they can correct it, repair it, whatever it is. When I came to after about four hours, I looked around and thought everyone…this is the morgue. I thought everyone I saw was dead; they all looked dead. But I knew that I at least was aware, so being aware I knew in some strange way I may be dead to the world but still I’m aware. Everyone I saw…I looked over…everything that I saw was simply like on a slab, a dead, dead body.1144 ¶16

Well, these are dead. It’s the presence of God and you are God within these bodies that animates them. Therefore, I tell you, you cannot die. You cannot go to eternal death in that which cannot die, for God is the God of life. So nothing can die, I don’t care what it is, it just can’t die. But the body it wears returns to the dust out of which it was made. But you can’t die, for you are God himself. God actually became man and man was dead. In the body of man, because of his presence, man became a living being. His presence is called his “breath” for his breath and Spirit are one. So when he breathed into man he entered man and man became a living being. So when you’re told that he breathed upon his disciples and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit” he is the risen Lord now. He is disappearing from the visible world, but he enters within. That’s the story, that’s the mystery. That’s inspired history, inspired scripture. And so, he enters by the breath. Well, what breath?—he himself is the breath. So one who tells you the story having experienced it, when he disappears where do you think he’s going to go? Where else could he go but within? And yet he contains all within himself. But he has to go within; doesn’t go without because he’s left the outer world.1144 ¶17

So this mystery of inspiration is simply, if he has possessed you, you know it. There is no doubt in your mind when you are possessed, none whatsoever, because you can’t stop it. And you aren’t determining the visions consciously…they are happening. All of a sudden you are cast in the central role. You are not an actor on the outside, you’re the star, and you’re playing the central role in that particular drama. When suddenly it is all over, you search the scriptures and there is the inspired Word of God that you have just fulfilled. All of the inspired passages of scripture you will fulfill and then you tell it. Not everyone’s going to believe you, because they’ve been conditioned to believe in some little external Jesus Christ. It annoys them to hear you speak that way, because they don’t want you to refer to Christ, the false Christ as “some little thing on the outside.” The whole vast world worships a false Christ. It is Christ in you that is the hope of glory, and it is that Christ in you that fulfills scripture. “Scripture must be fulfilled in me. And so beginning with Moses and the prophets and the psalms, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself,” nothing else. “For everything was written about me,” he said.1144 ¶18

So don’t be embarrassed when I tell you that you are God. Dwell upon it! When you leave here tonight, go out believing yourself to be that important. If you want someone in your world to be important, you must start treating him as though he is important. He will never react to you as an important person until you treat him as though he is. If in your mind’s eye he’s a little person, well, that’s what he’s going to be to you. Well, the same thing is true of yourself. You don’t have to become arrogant. Oh no, there’s no arrogance about it, but you’ve got to assume that this thing is true. And you dwell upon it and then the visions will come to confirm it. Everything in scripture is all about Christ, and you are Christ, and Christ is Jehovah. So, “When you’ve seen me, you’ve seen the Father. Why do you say, ‘Show me the Father?’ Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. There is no other Father.”1144 ¶19

So here, in the 89th Psalm, these three words are used, “I have found David and he has cried unto me, ‘Thou art my Father’”. That I know from experience. But he also called me “God,” called me “My Lord.” And I also know that I am his Rock that begot him, for all these fragmented parts I played, and put them all together it is my son David. When I take all the things I’ve ever done in this world, and I’ve played all the parts, good parts, bad parts, horrible parts, but every conceivable part I’ve played. Now you take it altogether and fuse it into one grand whole, and the whole personified is eternity, and that eternal state is a youth called David. So he calls me Father, he calls me his God, he calls me the Rock of his salvation, and then you know who the Rock is that we have forgotten. You know who the Lord is and you know who the Father is. And you tell it and if he is still asleep in those that hear you, they think you’re mad…because all inspired men appear mad to those who hear them. It’s always so. They’ll judge you as a mad person. They call him mad: “Why listen to him? This man is mad and he has a spirit.” So in the 10th chapter of John he is called insane and said to have a demon, he has a spirit, so why listen to him? Then he points to scripture.1144 ¶20

But no one expects that one coming into this world today is coming to fulfill scripture. They think scripture is a prophecy, and it’s going to be fulfilled in a secular manner. It’s not going to be fulfilled in any secular manner. While I walk in garments of death I will fulfill it. I will animate these garments as long as I occupy them. And I’m telling you, if you’ve never had this experience it’s the most exciting thing imaginable. When you are possessed by the Spirit and taken into a room like this and you know intuitively who you are. You know the power that you’re feeling you can arrest it, stop it. But you also know that if you stop it, everything in the world that you had perceived is dead…if you stop it. You arrest that activity and everything stands still, perfectly still, and it’s dead. You go over and examine it…it’s all dead. Then you release it and as you release it—not there but here in your own Imagination—everything once more becomes not only animated but it continues its purpose. If the bird was in flight when you arrested it, it continues to fulfill its purpose to go to the branch. If someone was waiting on a table and they were arrested while they were carrying the food, you can keep them there as long as you want to. After a while you release it. They continue and they fulfill their purpose and serve the table.1144 ¶21

Now, if you can imagine that taking place all over the world. Well, I’m telling you it’s true. But it’s difficult for man so identified with the body of death and believing himself to be it. He shaves it every morning and he bathes it and cleans it and dresses it…and he thinks he is it. He doesn’t realize he is in it. “Christ in you is the hope of glory.” So this body that I take so much care to keep it well and to do all things for it is dead; and I who entered it, I am the living being who experiences scripture while I am in it. So I came down into the world and took upon myself the body of a slave and was born in the likeness of man; and being found in the form of man, made myself obedient unto death, even death upon the cross which is man. While in this state of death, I experience my own Word that I inspired the prophets to write. For who else inspired them but God and you are God! So you foretold what you’re going to do, and it was the most incredible thing in the world: that you would actually die, become dead and overcome it. The last enemy to overcome is death and you are victorious, so you overcome death.1144 ¶22

You awaken within the grave, and then unassisted you come out and find yourself the being that you were, but now enhanced. Those who still thought of you only in terms of the outer form, they come to the grave and they see the things that were foretold, but him they did not see. How could you see him with mortal eyes? You can’t see him. So he said, “You have eyes and you see not, you have ears and hear not”; and now he gives them eyes that they may see and bores ears for them that they may hear. Now you see and you hear what kings and prophets longed to see and hear but did not. Then the whole thing unfolds within you.1144 ¶23

So let no one tell you and believe it. They can tell you, but don’t you believe it, about going to some retreat so that you can in some way cultivate inspiration. It comes out of the blue and it comes when you least expect it. So when teachers come telling you take a five-month course with me or a six-month and then we will develop this capacity to be inspired, forget it! They sit for hours over a period of months and years to raise the kundalini fire. Well, they can sit until the end of time and they’ll raise nothing. It doesn’t come that way. When that fire rises within you, it first comes down like some bolt of lightning and splits you in two, and then you, as that fiery serpent, you rise. It happens so suddenly and so unexpectedly, you can’t sit in any way and lift it up…it hasn’t yet come down. Only he ascends into heaven who first descended. And it’s actually a bolt of lightning that splits you in two, which is called in scripture, “the curtain of the temple” which is the flesh. Takes that dead body and splits it, and then the Spirit trapped is set free and up you go, back into the heavenly state from which you came. You are the God spoken of in scripture: “I say ye are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you; nevertheless, you will die like men and fall as one man, O princes”. How else could you tell it? Could you tell it clearer?1144 ¶24

So, if you can take it, from tonight on, when you think of yourself, don’t think of any physical descent. People tonight are so proud that they came out of certain physical lines. If they really knew the background of that one, they’d be ashamed of it. Many a person has paid a fortune after having made a fortune to trace his line, and then paid another fortune to forget it. When he finds what the physical descent was he wants to forget it completely. Here I was reading recently that Frederic Myers—and this is the attitude of the whole religious world—he was the head of the Society for Psychical Research in London. Well, he’s gone from this world now. He thought he would ask the priests and the ministers and all those associated with religion a very simple question. The question was this, “What do you think is going to happen to you when you die?” This minister answered, “I suppose I will enter into the joy of the Lord. But why bring up such an unpleasant subject?” Now here is a man teaching…now this is an actual fact…it is given as actual fact by Mr. Myers himself that he asked this minister and he’s going to enter into the joy of the Lord. For you’re told, “Well done, my good servant. Enter into the joy of the Lord.” Well, he takes that literally and he thinks because he serves with a certain suit of clothes and a turned back collar that he is something set apart, that he is one of the chosen, so he will enter joy of the Lord. But he’s scared to death to enter into the joy of the Lord…why bring up such an unpleasant subject. Well, that is true of the whole vast world over.1144 ¶25

I tell you, you are immortal, you cannot die. You come into death—this world is a world of death—and the bodies will return because they’re dead anyway and they’ll return to dust. But you, the occupant of that body cannot die. You still remain asleep and you’ll find yourself clothed in another body of death, but you being alive, you animate it. You will animate a young body, a lovely young body, say, twenty years old, and you’ll animate a world just like this. It’s terrestrial, it’s alive, it’s real, and you’ll find yourself doing similar things in an environment which you in the depth of your being find best suited for what you still want to do. You’ll continue doing it until one day you awaken in that garment and fulfill scripture. Everyone must fulfill scripture; that is the goal. At the end, you take it off and then you return to the glory that was yours before that the world was. We will all meet in that state, and we knew each other intimately before we came down. We will know each other just as intimately when we ascend and all the masks are taken off. No one in this world could ever know anyone as intimately as we know each other in eternity, for in eternity we form one; we are many and yet one. “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one”. And in that day there shall be only one Lord, one king, one God and Father of all…and all form the One…so not one will be missing. I don’t care what frightful dream the individual has had, it will still in the end be but the dream. You take it off, and when he returns we will love him as dearly as we did before the descent; for we’re all one and not one can be lost.1144 ¶26

So inspiration in a sense is a gift of God. You cannot acquire it, it just happens suddenly, and it happens by the God in you. For that is the God of whom I am speaking tonight…the one being right in man. If you read scripture carefully, it is not inspired from without, it is from within. So when he asks the question, “If Christ is in you…”, if it is, well, I say yes he is in all of us: that is the power of God and the wisdom of God personified as you. Well now, “If the body is dead, he who raised Christ from the dead will raise you also,” for he only raises up Christ. Christ is risen, so Christ in you is the one who will be risen and you are he. “Through his Spirit who dwells in you” and his Spirit is breath. The God breathed his inspiration and you hear the wind and you feel it, but it is all you. So he is now the image of the invisible breath who radiates the glory of that God-breath. So it’s in you and that’s why you can awaken…and everyone will awaken.1144 ¶27

Now let us go into the Silence.1144 ¶28

When I start passing opinions, setting myself up as the criterion of what is right and what is wrong, that could be as false as all outdoors. There are certain isms in this world…I think of one, she’s blonde, or was blonde, and someone told her she looked lovely in lavender, so lavender became the perfect color and all of her followers had to wear lavender. Then onions and garlic disagreed with her, so that was simply the fruit of the devil. And red was awful on her, so red was taboo. They built up this ism on her own little superstitions, and then she called it something from God. Well, you find these false prophets all over the world. Prophecy is over. Predictions and fortune telling as always has been. That’s not prophecy.1144 ¶35

Prophecy is over and you’ll find it in the Old Testament, that’s prophecy. The New Testament is the fulfillment of prophecy. So Man comes into the world to fulfill the Word of God, but when he fulfills it, he re-interprets the Old in light of his own experience. And man having these traditions of the fathers will not accept his re-interpretation of the Old; because to them Abraham lived and that’s all there is to it. He lived thousands of years ago. He was promised a child, that child was called Isaac, and that happened thousands of years ago. He will not believe the whole thing is prophecy and that Isaac is born…the little child that was born not according to the flesh but according to the Promise, as we’re told in Galatians…and that little child is the Christ child bearing witness of the birth of God. So when it happens in him, he simply takes the Old Testament and shows the passage where he has fulfilled it. And his name isn’t Abraham, his name could be anything. But he knows that Abraham was a state that he entered to receive the Promise and fulfill it. But man…if you take this story as secular history then you’ll never see the scripture…never see it.1144 ¶36

My old friend, Abdullah, who was born and raised in the Jewish faith, said, “Not only was I raised in the most orthodox environment in Judaism, but for forty years I was a strict vegetarian. I had never tasted pork in my life, no part of the animal. The voice said to me, ‘If you will not eat what they give you, how do you expect them to take what you give them? So you are feasting them and you expect them to accept what you teach and yet you will not eat what they offer you.’” And he said, “I broke my fast after the vision, and what do you think was served me, and it had never happened before? I was the guest of honor and I went to this lovely party, and they brought in a little roasted pig. The whole animal, right at the top of the table, and I am the guest of honor. I broke not only my fast from not having had meat in forty years, but never in my life had I ever had a piece of pork…and here I am breaking my fast on pork.” So, you won’t take what I’m offering, well, have I taken what you offered? So, all things are clean if you see them clean. As we are told, “Food will not commend you to God; you’re no worse off if you do not eat it and no better if you do,” as told us in Paul’s letters, no worse off if you don’t, no better if you do.1144 ¶37

But there are people who believe they’re going to get into heaven by not smoking, not drinking, and not doing this and not doing that. I was one of those and when I met old Abdullah, having observed me for a while, said “You know, Neville, you’re so good you’re good for nothing.” He told me that “Because you thought you could acquire merit by not doing things.” After a while you see everything in this world and allow it…you just allow it. You don’t want to duplicate it. I have no desire to take from you anything in your purse…like someone left a coat here last night, 250 in this party, and this lady came in with the coat over her hand and she went into the kitchen…had no right to be there. These were all men, 250 men, the motorcycle club, and here she had the coat. Well, Mr. Harrison who is supervisor here saw this woman with the coat, and just said to her, “What are you doing with the coat?” She said, “My brother left it here.” He said, “Your brother left it here? Well, what does he do?” “He works for Lockheed.” Well, he said, “The man who left that here doesn’t work for Lockheed, he works for Blue Chip Stamps and he’s a red-headed man, about thirty-five,” and then he took the coat from her. She gave it up quite innocently, quite freely. She’s just one of those people who walk around and pick up anything…saw the coat hanging there, so she picked up the coat. She must have heard from someone or she didn’t have to hear…she walks in and picks up the coat. But Mr. Harrison redeemed it. And maybe it is not Larry’s, but she gave it up so quickly that he knew that she was fully aware of the fact it wasn’t her coat. She saw the coat and she’s going to take it. Well now, forgive her as that’s part of her life, just part of her life.1144 ¶38

In little Barbados where I come from we’ve always been in business and some of the richest families on the island and their wives…they couldn’t help it, they were simply conditioned that way…kleptomaniacs. They’ll pick up everything and then pay for nothing. Well, the clerk saw them do it, would tell my brothers that she has so and so, and she has so and so. Well, they never said one word to her. The husband knew she had this peculiar habit and they’d make a little note, and he never complained. The bill was sent to him and he paid it. So she went home thinking she got something for nothing. They were the richest families. These are not people who are hungry. They were rich, I mean really wealthy. Come in and pick up silly little things like apples. Put six little apples in quickly…and she could have bought the store. Well, what can you do? When you invited her to dinner, you nailed things down; but in her social capacity you had to have her to dinner. I recall her vividly…I can see her now before my mind’s eye…a sweet, lovely, cultured lady. But don’t you leave anything, because off it would go. It’s not an economic set-up; it’s part of the mind.1144 ¶39

You know who made her?—God. And so, that’s it. When you know that God made everything in this world, you forgive everything in this world. God wrote the part for her and God played the part and is playing the part. And so, he will go through all the sufferings, because he has to stand the embarrassment of the part he wrote when he’s arrested. Well, who is arrested? Well, the body is dead and the occupant of the body is God, and he has to stand the embarrassment for the part he wrote. You go to a play and people will hiss the actor. You want to hiss someone call the author on the stage…he did it. The actor’s only expressing what the author wrote.1144 ¶40

I recall vividly…I played in a show on Broadway for about, I think it was about twenty-five to thirty weeks of being hissed eight times a week, six shows and two matinees. Yet the author is unseen as God is unseen. Then you’ll know the meaning of the cry on the cross: “Father, forgive them; they know not what they do”.1144 ¶41

Good night.1144 ¶42

No, I say the Bible is inspired, all scripture is inspired by God and profitable for instruction as we are told in the 2nd letter of Paul to Timothy. But not every passage is inspired, because he has certain passages that are only opinions, and he tells you they are opinions. So, his opinion doesn’t differ from my opinion. If I pass an opinion, it’s subject to all the errors of the world. But if I tell you of any inspired event in my life, like the fulfillment of the Word of God, that is not an opinion, that is an eternal truth. Whether one believes it or not, that is unalterable. But if I pass an opinion…you ask, “What do you think of Nixon?”…well, I can pass an opinion and I’d be so far amiss…history may disprove me and make me completely false. So my opinions are just as subject to error as any man’s opinion in the world. But when it comes to inspiration which is “God breathes”…literally the word means “God breathes.”1144 ¶30

O, my dear, you feel it. You can’t read that book and not feel it. When it begins to become alive within you, you know what is inspired and what is not. If you take the story of the diets, that’s not inspired; that was based upon a need, a necessity at the time that it was written…because if he made everything and called it good. And then we find in the Book of Acts when Peter said he could not eat the unclean thing, Peter fell into a trance, and a sheet came down from heaven and on it all manner of food. The voice said to him, “Peter, slay and eat, for that which I have cleansed I have cleansed”. Then when Paul writes in the 14th chapter of Romans, he said, “I know and I am persuaded by the Spirit of Christ that there is nothing unclean in itself; but any man who sees anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean”. That goes not only for food but for any act of man. So through the eyes of the inspired man, “God made everything and called it good and very good.” But man sets himself up as the criterion of what is good and what is evil, because he ate of the tree of good and evil. One day he’s going to eat of the Tree of Life, and leave behind him this concept of good and evil. It’s a play for a divine purpose: to expand the being that we are beyond what we were before we took upon ourselves this challenge.1144 ¶32

That’s an opinion…all the traditions. We are told, “You deny the Word of God for the traditions of your fathers.” So we have traditions, and so when someone comes up and gives this pontifical statement as though he’s in communion with God, it’s like Putnam on TV…same thing. He’s always in communion with God and he speaks in the same manner. He is speaking this way and all opinions in the world. Well now, that’s not scripture…scripture hasn’t a thing to do with that. Scripture is inspired, true scripture is inspired.1144 ¶34

Repentance: A Gift of God

I think you will find tonight’s message a very practical one, something that all should really have and apply. The whole of life is just the appeasement of hunger, and the numberless states of consciousness from which the individual can think and view the world are purely a means of satisfying that hunger.1118 ¶1

I say this because your state of consciousness is always being externalized. If you know how to move from your present state, if you dislike it, to the state you would like to externalize, then you have the secret. That is what I attempt tonight to tell you. For there are only states of consciousness pushed out—everything in this world—and all are contained within the individual.1118 ¶2

Now, in the Bible we speak of prayer, and prayer to the world means begging—but not in the Bible. It’s thanksgiving; it’s praise. It’s not petition. We speak in the Bible of repentance, and the world thinks that it means to regret, to be remorseful. That’s not what the Bible teaches. Prayer and repentance are almost synonymous terms.1118 ¶3

We are told to bear fruit that befits repentance. Then they say of the central character of the Scripture: “You and your disciples eat and drink with sinners.” And he replied, “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Leave the righteous alone. They are so self-satisfied. They like themselves, so leave them alone.1118 ¶4

The word “sin” hasn’t a thing to do with breaking any moral code. The word “sin” means to miss the mark. That’s what it means. You have a goal in life and you haven’t achieved it, well then, you are sinning. You may have a billion dollars, and still are hungry for another. Well then, if you don’t have the other, you are sinning.1118 ¶5

You may keep all the so-called codes of the world imposed upon you by the priesthoods of the world—that would mean nothing as far as the Scriptures go. To repent is simply a radical change of attitude. That is what repentance means. For if I radically change my attitude towards life, I will then view the world and see the world from that change of attitude. And that change is a change of consciousness, and that change will be externalized in my world.1118 ¶6

Now, repentance is at once man’s responsibility and a gift of God. Now, let us show you what I mean by it. He said, “I and my Father are one, yet I go to my Father, for my Father is greater than I.” We are one, yet my Father is greater than I, so I go to my Father.1118 ¶7

How do we arrive at this strange, peculiar statement and what does it mean? In the office of the sent, I am not inferior to my essential being, the sender; but only in the office of the sent I am restricted and must live by faith. Faith in what? Faith in the sender. It is myself, the Father, for I and my Father are one. But when I am sent into this world to experience death, and to experience the restriction of man, I am seemingly inferior to myself, the sender. So, when I repent, I go to the sender—I first do what I have to do. So, I say that repentance is at once a responsibility of man and a gift from God.1118 ¶8

Well now, what is my responsibility? I want to change my world. Well then, I ask myself, “What would I see if it were changed? How would I see the world, if my world was exactly as I want it to be, how would I see it?” Well then, see it! In my mind’s eye, conjure a scene which would imply that it is true—live as though it were true—in my mind’s eye. I know I can’t make it so, but in the depth of my own being the Father—he has the power to make it so.1118 ¶9

So now I go to my Father. How do I go to my Father? I first of all do what I am called upon to do—I enact a scene implying the fulfillment of my dream and then I turn it over completely in thanksgiving to him. It is myself, my essential being, but it transcends my reasoning mind. I do not know on this level how it can be done, but I do know that if I have faith in him—it is my own self—it will be done in my world. So, we are told in Scripture, without faith it is impossible to please him.1118 ¶10

And those who would draw near to him must believe that he exists, and that he rewards those who seek him. I must believe that he exists, and that he rewards those who seek him.1118 ¶11

Well, without faith it is impossible to please him. What is faith? The same chapter in Hebrews defines faith for us. “Faith is the assurance of things not seen, the evidence of things hoped for.” By faith, we understand that the very worlds were created by the word of God, so that what is seen was made out of things which do not appear.1118 ¶12

Well, in my world it hasn’t yet appeared. I say it all is contained within my imagination. So, I will enact a scene which would imply that it’s real. And then, within myself, I give thanks. Now, we are told the most wonderful prayer ever uttered we find in the book of John, the eleventh chapter. He stands at the gate of death. And he raises his eyes and says, “Thank you, Father, that thou hast heard me. I knew that you always hear me.” Well, I can’t deny that the depth of my own being is hearing what I am doing, what I am inwardly saying, so I can truly say, “Father, thank you.” He certainly heard what I said. Well, is it now supported by some statement of Scripture? Yes, again in John, but now in his letter, the first letter, and in this he said, “If we believe that he hears us in whatever we ask of him, we know that we have already obtained the request made of him.”1118 ¶13

If I can simply assume that I am the man that I would like to be, well, certainly the depth of my being has seen that assumption, he has heard that assumption. Well, can I actually believe that that’s all I need do? Well, I have to confess that I can’t do it on this level. I am not wise enough on this level to devise the means necessary to externalize what I have assumed that I am.1118 ¶14

Well, have you proved it, Neville? Unnumbered times. Unnumbered times. When I was completely shut out, on certain areas, imprisoned as it were, not in the federal prisons, but a state of imprisonment—to find yourself on an island, where you enjoyed four months of it, almost five months, but you have a commitment in America, and you have to get back; and then to be told that there is no possibility of return until the very earliest September. That would be the very earliest, and your commitment is in Milwaukee in the first week of May. What are you going to do then? No possibility—no ships are taking the passengers, and the list runs into thousands waiting all through the Indies, from Trinidad all the way up, all waiting, and you in the island of Barbados without making any provision for your return to America when you sailed for Barbados five months before.1118 ¶15

So, what did I do? I simply sat in a chair in my hotel room and I assumed that I was on a little tender moving against the boat. Well, that was before the days of a deep-water harbor. Now we have a deep-water harbor. But then you took a small boat out to the ship waiting maybe a half mile to sea, and then you walked up a gangplank. So, I simply stepped up on the gangplank and walked up that gangplank in my mind’s eye. If my mind wandered, which it did, I brought it right back to that first step and walked up again. It wandered before I got to the top; I brought it back again, and I trained it as you would a horse. The mind is an unruly animal, so I trained it, and I walked up step after step. When I got to the top, I turned around and put my imaginary hands on the rail, and I could smell the salt of the sea in the air. I looked back with nostalgia at the little island of Barbados—a mixed emotion—I am happy that I am sailing for America, and sad I am leaving behind a very large, wonderful family of mine. And then, in that mood I simply dropped off for a moment in sleep. Just a little nap.1118 ¶16

The next day, I was called by the very company who had said, “We have no possibility of getting you out of here before at the very earliest September.” And said there was a cancellation this day in America. And they offered to me in spite of the list of over a thousand people waiting.1118 ¶17

It is not my concern why she or he or it canceled the passage. My prayer was answered. I did what I was called upon to do, for repentance is a radical change of attitude. She said, “You can’t get out.” Well, I said, “I’m out. I’m on a boat, and the boat is headed towards New York City.” That is all I wanted to do.1118 ¶18

So, I did my responsibility, and the second part of repentance is a gift from God. God has the way of externalizing it. What caused the woman or the man or something to cancel the thing, I was told afterward, she was afraid. She was afraid for some reason not explained to make the trip. And so, one passage was opened up and I got that one room. Because there were only two beds in it, and my little girl was only three years old—she could sleep with her mother, and I could climb up one flight and sleep on the upper bunk, and then take my eleven days back to New York City.1118 ¶19

So, I did what I was called upon to do—that’s my responsibility—to enact a scene which would imply the fulfillment of my desire , and then surrender completely to my Father, for he has the power to externalize it. I do not know how to do it on this level. I haven’t the wisdom, I haven’t anything on this level to do it, so my faith is faith in my Father. Faith in his power to externalize what I have done—all in imagination.1118 ¶20

So, for me that is prayer, that is repentance. I didn’t sit down and feel for one moment that I had done something wrong and that’s why I couldn’t get out. No sense of repentance like remorse as the world teaches. That’s not repentance. Repentance is simply a radical change of attitude—that’s what the word means. Metanoia—but radical, right down to the root, and you change your attitude. If I change my attitude, I have changed my state of consciousness, and because all states of consciousness are being externalized in the world, then that state will externalize itself in my world in a way I do not know.1118 ¶21

For we are told, “My ways are not your ways. My ways are past finding out. Just trust me.” So, without faith, you cannot please God, we are told. If I would come to him, I must first believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. Well, I seek him in projecting for me that which I desire in this world. So, that is what I mean by prayer. Prayer is the attempted communion with God. That’s what prayer is. As we are told in the fourth Psalm, the fourth verse: “Commune with your own hearts on your beds, and then be silent.” Commune with whom? I do not need the mediation of any priest, any rabbi, or any heavenly being—I’m communing with myself. The depth of my own being is God the Father. That’s my essential being, and he is one with the surface mind called Neville. And in the capacity of the office of the sent called Neville, I am inferior to myself the sender, but the sender and the sent are one. You and God the Father are one.1118 ¶22

But in the office of the sent you are like an ambassador—you do not speak with the same authority of the one who sent you to represent him. So, I represent myself in the world of death, but the sender is greater than I, and yet I and He are one. This is what I get from Scripture, and this is what I put into practice, and this is what I try to teach and tell everyone who will listen to me. You are God the Father. That’s who you really are, but you do not know it yet. The day is coming you when are going to know it, and you will only know it when his son appears before you. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.1118 ¶23

Well, Jesus Christ, don’t look upon him as one in the sense, like a surname, “Jesus” and “Christ” being the surname, no. Look upon it like Father and Son. The Christ is the Messiah—that’s the son. “Jesus” is the same as “Jehovah”—that’s the Father. But we put them together and we say Jesus Christ. So, we could say, “I and my Father are one.” So here, look upon it simply as one, yes, but split for a purpose in this world. So, he sends himself. He sends his son. Who is his son? The one who is going to reveal him to you as God the Father. For no one has ever seen the Father, but his only begotten son, who is nearest and dearest to his heart, he has made him known. And so, who is that one? David. So, David comes into sight and here you know exactly who you are. The minute he appears, memory returns and you are God the Father. And his son who was with you before the world was made stands before you. So, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever, as you read it in the thirteenth chapter of Hebrews. Same forever. This is contained in the mind of man.1118 ¶24

That’s what we mean in the third chapter of Ecclesiastes—that “God has put eternity into the mind of man, yet so that man cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.” What did he do? He put himself and his son into the very mind of man. And when man has completed a journey, well, then the secret is out—the son appears, and the minute the son appears, the identity of the individual appears—that he is God the Father—that this relationship was before that the world was.1118 ¶25

So, everyone in this world is destined to awaken one day as God the Father, and the relationship is forever. You cannot change it. So, when you are called upon to repent, for the story begins, “The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe the Gospel.” Believe the good news. Repent and all the priesthoods of the world tell you that you must now moan and carry on because you must repent of things that you did. The Bible doesn’t teach that at all. It doesn’t. Repent—change your attitude if you would change the world. To try to change circumstances before you change your state of consciousness is to struggle against the very nature of things. You can’t do it. How can you change a thing and still maintain it from the venue?1118 ¶26

So tonight, without asking anyone’s permission—you’re not asking anyone to mediate for you to God—you go within and commune with your own heart: What would the world be like if it were true that I am already the man, the woman that I’d like to be? What would it be like? Well then, look at it and see it. If you don’t see a change, well then, there is no change. Man’s sense can detect motion in this world only by changes relative to something that is fixed. Well now, my present state is fixed, seemingly. Well then, I change my attitude towards the world. I let the world see me a changed man and I see in my world a change. Well, if I see a world that is changed relative to what it was, well then, I have changed.1118 ¶27

If tonight I am financially embarrassed, what would it be like if I were not? If I were affluent? Would my friends know it? Would my wife know it? Yes, they would know it. Well then, let them know it. Where? By telling them audibly? No, you do it all in your imagination. For man is all imagination, and God is man and exists in us and we in Him. The eternal body of man is the imagination and that is God himself. That is the divine body that we speak of in Scripture as “Jesus.” And where does he live? He lives in you. So, Blake says so beautifully, “Why stand we here, trembling around/ Calling on God for help, and not ourselves, in whom God dwells.” He dwells in us, so where would I go to find him? In a church? In a synagogue? In a so-called holy place? No, if I’m at the bar drinking a beer or a good scotch, that is where he is. He’s in me wherever I am—that’s where he is. And he is aware of what I am entertaining, and he is going to externalize what I am entertaining.1118 ¶28

So, I change radically my state of mind and that radical change will externalize itself if I yield completely to him in faith that he has the ability to do it. It relieves me of all responsibility of devising the means that would be necessary to do it. I do not know—I’m not wise enough to know how it’s going to work—I only know it will work.1118 ¶29

So, everyone, if he knows this secret, is free. He is set free by the knowledge of prayer. “Teach me how to pray.” Now, the Lord’s Prayer is not the technique. If you know the Lord’s Prayer, and it is recited week after week in all the churches of the world, but it is not as it is written in Scripture. A friend of mine who is now gone from this world gave me the literal translation of the Greek, when what we have in our Bible is a translation from the Latin, and the Latin has no aorist of the imperative passive mood, so they could not convey the sense of the evangelist. The imperative passive mood is a thing to be done absolutely and continuously. That, well, in other words: “Our Father in the heavens, Thy name must be being hallowed; Thy kingdom must be being restored; Thy will must be being done.” That’s how it is written. It is a play that is forever—without any reference to its duration, to its position in time, to its repetition—it’s to be taking place.1118 ¶30

And that play is the play of the Father-Son in man. And at the very end when the individual here is drawn into that play, he realizes it. He actually reenacts within himself the eternal play, and when that whole thing is done within him, he is fulfilled—what he came to do.1118 ¶31

For the only purpose in life really is simply to fulfill Scripture. But while we are here in this world of tears, world of death, then we have given ourselves a law by which we can cushion the blows, the inevitable blows. For you get into a state quite often unwittingly, and you do not know you are in the state until you see it externalized, and you do not like what is being externalized.1118 ¶32

Don’t remain in it and wallow. Get out of it. Don’t condemn anyone for it. Don’t judge anyone, just get out of that state. You get out of the state by asking a very simple, simple question: “What would it be like if… ?” And then you imagine as if it were true. And that is the secret of prayer. “What would the world be like if it were true that I am now the man, the woman that I’d like to be?” And then I dare to assume that I am it.1118 ¶33

Well then, I can say, “Father, thank you, for you certainly heard and you certainly saw what I did.” You cannot encompass me as the deeper self of my being, something that is my essential being, and tell me that you aren’t aware of what my surface mind is doing. It can’t be unaware of what my surface mind is doing.1118 ¶34

I saw in yesterday’s paper that the second man to step upon the moon, his name was Aldrin, and when he came back from this fantastic thing, Armstrong stepped on first, and then Aldrin stepped on second, that he came near a nervous breakdown and sought psychiatric help. And all the stories he read about their journey he said they were so false, and they all said, “I wish it were true.” Not a thing Life magazine wrote about that journey was true.1118 ¶35

Not what any magazine wrote was true through the eyes of those who had the experience, and then in the article, it quoted a thought of Jung, Carl Jung, and Jung said long before any man ever stepped on the moon, “It is far easier for man to visit Mars or the moon than to penetrate his own being.”1118 ¶36

So, you step on the moon, and it’s a fantastic feat, but that’s nothing compared to penetrating your own being and finding the cause of the phenomena of life, to find the Father in you, for that is where he is. He’s not outside, and because he is not outside, he is never so far off as even to be near. For nearness implies separation.1118 ¶37

So, I can say, “I and my Father are one.” So, if he is even “near,” it is not near enough. No matter how “near” it is, he has to be my essential being. For nearness implies separation, and he is not separated, because “I and My Father are one,” giving me freedom to choose a state that I will enter, wisely or unwisely, but he will externalize it and show me exactly what I did. But grant me the freedom to change it— don’t leave me in the state if I desire to get out of it.1118 ¶38

Yet many a person wallows in it, and wallows in it, morning, noon, and night, and they are totally unaware they are doing it. They will say, “Oh, yes,” and then five seconds later they are back in that state. I have had interviews with people who will say to me, “This is what I would like, but I must first tell you …” Don’t tell me anything! Tell me what you want—they are only states. They insist on wallowing in all the things of the past.1118 ¶39

Like the little old lady who insisted on confessing time and time again to the priest, and it was some little affair she had when she was a child, a young girl. And the priest said to her, “You know my dear, you have told me that over and over again,” And she said, “Yes, but I love to talk about it.” Well, that’s the story, we just love to talk about all the miseries in the world. I tell you, forget it. Know exactly what you want in this world, dare to assume that you are it, and then yield completely. Surrender to the depth of your own being, and he has a way that you do not know, and he will externalize it in your world.1118 ¶40

So really, in a real sense, prayer is the subjective appropriation of the objective hope. What do you hope for? Well now, subjectively appropriate it. That subjective appropriation of the objective hope is the art of prayer. For the Father knows exactly what you are appropriating. He saw it. And he isn’t judging you; he is going to give it to you. He’s not going to ask anything, he’s going to give you exactly what you appropriated. So, I appropriated a trip when they told me you couldn’t move out of this island for months and months to come. And I kept my date in Milwaukee. I arrived in New York City in the first week of May and flew to Milwaukee, and there I kept my date. So, the same thing is true for everyone in this world.1118 ¶41

I am not unique in the sense that I differ from any child born of woman. You are unique and I am unique in the sense that we can’t be duplicated. And that’s why everyone has to be redeemed, because if not all, then something is missing from the whole. So, I can say faithfully to everyone, “You are going to be redeemed.” You may go through hell before you wake up, but you still are going to be salvaged. You’re going to be saved, everyone, because the whole makes the one. That is God. But why wait? And why have more blocks and more knocks in this world, when you can actually learn what Scripture really means by “repentance?” And don’t go telling anyone that you commit a little sin, and now they must give you something to do that you may repent. Forget that nonsense. All that’s nonsense. I don’t care what you did, your Father doesn’t hold it against you; it is the state in which you were when you committed that act. And man judges the individual and not the state. If I must express myself, judge the state, but not the individual in that state—he was simply something that fell into it unwittingly.1118 ¶42

So, Blake could say, “You see now from what I tell you, that I do not see either the just or the wicked to be in a supreme state, but to be every one of them states of the sleep in which the soul may fall into in its deadly dreams of good and evil.” So, it falls into a state. So why condemn the man or the woman for the state into which it fell? Take it out of that state. All things are redeemable—take him out of the state. How do you take him out? Well, ask him what he would like. Maybe he doesn’t want to get out of the state. If he wants to get out of that state, you ask him, “What would you like?” Well then, in your own mind’s eye represent him to yourself as the man or the woman that they would like to be. And then yield completely to your Father, because he has the knowhow—he knows how to produce it in them.1118 ¶43

A friend of mine went to San Francisco at my bidding. I taught him the Law, and as much as I could tell him of the other, part of the Promise, but the Law, just what I am talking about tonight. Before he gave one lecture in San Francisco, it was a new city—he’d never seen it before—and he was walking around in the street, and he had a little fox terrier, so he was carrying his little fox terrier up the street, and a man crossed, wobbling a bit, and asked him for money. He said he was unemployed and he would like a little handout. He’d evidently had quite a little bit to drink as he asked. My friend wasn’t judging that aspect at all. He didn’t care if he’d had all the liquor in the world. He said, “I must apply this principle.” And he said to the man, “I do not have any money to give you, but what I have I’ll give you.”1118 ¶44

Well, the man couldn’t understand what he was talking about but thanked him and walked his way. My friend did not make one step beyond that point before he did what was his responsibility. He represented that man to himself as gainfully employed and no need of help from anyone—just gainfully employed, and then he went his way with his little dog. A week later, he’s walking down the street, the man crosses the street and comes up to him. He said, “I don’t imagine that you remember me.” My friend said, “Oh yes, I do.” Well, he said, “I want to thank you for not giving me help when I asked you a week ago, because had you given me help, I would be asking you for help tonight, too. But I got so mad with myself because you turned me down and I was in that position to ask for help, I went out the very next day and got myself a marvelous job, and I’m on the job now.”1118 ¶45

All my friend did was he represented him to himself as gainfully employed. So, we are told that in the book of Acts, “Silver and gold have I none for thee, but such as I have give I unto you.” You can give any gift in your imagination, so give it! And then yield completely to the depth of your own being knowing that he has the power, the creative power to externalize it. And that is what my friend Freedom did.1118 ¶46

So, anyone can do it. You don’t have to graduate from some little “ism” in this world. If you want some little title, all right, get a title. We all are bought, anyway. You can put fifty dollars in the mail, send it off to India, and get a Ph.D. You want something higher than that, get something higher, but get whatever it is—all for fifty dollars. If you bargain with them, you’ll get it for ten dollars. No exams, no studies, nothing. Just a little piece of paper and these people will frame it and put it up on their wall. Well, if that is not the height of nonsense! And then a big convention will take place, and you will hear so many doctors being called doctor so-and-so and doctor so-and-so each paid ten dollars for that doctorship.1118 ¶47

Get down to the basic facts: the greatest book in the world that never changes is the Bible. But it is the most misunderstood book in the world. For it is taught as secular history and it is not secular history. It’s divine history—it’s the history of salvation. And these characters are not persons as you are, these are eternal states of consciousness, but they are all personified when you tell the story. And we have taken the personifications for persons, and the vehicle that conveys the instruction for the instruction, and the gross percepts for the ultimate sense intended. And as long as we can teach it as secular history, we will never know the Bible. So, I tell you, whatever you did this day, and you dislike it, turn from it into another state. Don’t try to rub it out remaining in that state because you’re going to do it again. You’ll do the same thing over and over again while you remain in that state. You can pledge yourself from now to the end of time that “I will never do it again,” to find that maybe twenty-four hours later the impulse is there and you’ll do it again.1118 ¶48

Get out of the state, and it is as though you never really did that—not in eternity. It isn’t part of you because it’s not part of the new state. But you are not a state, you are all imagination. Imagination is not a state. All these other things are states, but not imagination. That is the individual himself—that is God, your own wonderful human imagination. That is God. When you say I am that is God forever and forever and forever.1118 ¶49

So, my name is in Him. Because my name is in Him, where should he turn if he wants to find God? But now, without faith in God, in your own wonderful human imagination, you cannot please Him. So, who would come to Him must first believe that He exists.1118 ¶50

Well, I don’t have to ask you if you aren’t aware of being. You certainly are aware of being. Well, that’s saying, I am. So, you do know that you exist to that extent. You may believe that that dies with the physical body; I tell you, it doesn’t die with the physical body.1118 ¶51

You have believed that a change of state is a change in the sense of death. No, it’s not. The individual moves on from state to state to state, but states remain permanent for all others to enter into that state. I leave this city of Los Angeles and go on elsewhere, but Los Angeles remains. But I the pilgrim, I move on. And the pilgrim is your own wonderful, human imagination. That is your immortal self who cannot die. You cannot go to eternal death in that which cannot die—that’s your immortal being. But you are going to remain in this world until you discover who you are.1118 ¶52

And no one in the world can convince you to the extent that you must be convinced by the Son. When the Son appears, all arguments are over. The minute you see him you know exactly who you are, and you know that you are God the Father. It is through the son that man gains assurance that he is God. Not a thing in the world can convince him but that. I could tell you from now to the ends of time, but I can’t convince you to the point that you will be convinced when you see David. And when you see David, it’s the David, the psalmist, that sweet psalmist of the Old Testament—that’s David—that is the Messiah. He is the Christ, and Jesus is the Lord God Jehovah. That’s the mystery. You’re dealing with a mystery.1118 ¶53

So, David in the spirit called him, “my Lord,” as a son always spoke of his father as “my Lord.” Always. You do not do it today, but when this was put into the written form, sons always referred to their father as “my Lord.” And so, David in the spirit, not in the flesh, called him “my Lord.” Therefore, he called him “my Father.”1118 ¶54

And so, I hope you will take it seriously tonight and really live by it. It will not fail you, I tell you, it will not fail you. You can change your world and make it conform to your ideal state, to your dream. Tell it to those who will listen. Many will not listen, but it doesn’t really matter. If they do not listen, leave them alone. Don’t try to hit them over the head to make it so. But I’ll tell you, spiritual growth is the gradual, I would say, transition from a God of tradition to a God of experience. And so, you will gradually grow and grow and grow—and as you grow, you outgrow; you will outgrow these traditions. And then you will find the God of experience. Having found him, you aren’t going to let him go—you will know that all things are taking place within your own wonderful human imagination.1118 ¶55

Now let us go into the silence1118 ¶56

Be What You Wish, Be What You Believe

Radio Talk, Station KECA, Los Angeles July, 19511056 ¶1

A newspaperman related to me that our great scientist, Robert Millikan, once told him that he had set a goal for himself at an early age when he was still very poor and unproven in the great work he was to do in the future. He condensed his dream of greatness and security into a simple statement, which statement implied that his dream of greatness and security was already realized. Then he repeated the statement over and over again to himself until the idea of greatness and security filled his mind and crowded all other ideas out of his consciousness. These may not have been the words of Dr. Millikan but they are those given to me and I quote, “I have a lavish, steady, dependable income, consistent with integrity and mutual benefit.”1056 ¶2

As I have said repeatedly, everything depends upon our attitude towards ourselves. That which we will not affirm as true of ourselves cannot develop in our life. Dr. Millikan wrote his dream of greatness and security in the first person, present tense. He did not say, “I will be great; I will be secure,” for that would have implied that he was not great and secure. Instead, he made his future dream a present fact. “I have,” said he, “a lavish, steady, dependable income, consistent with integrity and mutual benefit.” The future dream must become a present fact in the mind of him who seeks to realize it.1056 ¶3

We must experience in imagination what we would experience in reality in the event we achieved our goal, for the soul imagining itself into a situation takes on the results of that imaginary act. If it does not imagine itself into a situation, it is ever free of the result.1056 ¶4

It is the purpose of this teaching to lift us to a higher state of consciousness, to stir the highest in us to confidence and self-assertion, for that which stirs the highest in us is our teacher and healer. The very first word of correction or cure is always, “Arise.” If we are to understand the reason for this constant command of the Bible to “arise,” we must recognize that the universe understood internally is an infinite series of levels and man is what he is according to where he is in that series. As we are lifted up in consciousness, our world reshapes itself in harmony with the level to which we are lifted. He who rises from his prayer a better man, his prayer has been granted.1056 ¶5

To change the present state we, like Dr. Millikan, must rise to a higher level of consciousness. This rise is accomplished by affirming that we are already that which we want to be; by assuming the feeling of the wish fulfilled. The drama of life is a psychological one which we bring to pass by our attitudes rather than by our acts. There is no escape from our present predicament except by a radical psychological transformation. Everything depends upon our attitude towards ourselves. That which we will not affirm as true of ourselves will not develop in our lives.1056 ¶6

We hear much of the humble man, the meek man – but what is meant by a meek man? He is not poor and groveling, the proverbial doormat, as he is generally conceived to be. Men who make themselves as worms in their own sight have lost the vision of that life – into the likeness of which it is the true purpose of the spirit to transform this life.1056 ¶7

Men should take their measurements not from life as they see it but from men like Dr. Millkan, who, while poor and unproven, dared to assume, “I have a lavish, steady, dependable income, consistent with integrity and mutual benefit.” Such men are the meek of the Gospels, the men who inherit the earth. Any concept of self less than the best robs us of the earth. The promise is, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”1056 ¶8

In the original text, the word translated as meek is the opposite of the words – resentful – angry. It has the meaning of becoming “tamed” as a wild animal is tamed. After the mind is tamed, it may be likened to a vine, of which it may be said, “Behold this vine. I found it a wild tree whose wanton strength had swollen into irregular twigs. But I pruned the plant, and it grew temperate in its vain expense of useless leaves, and knotted as you see into these clean, full clusters to repay the hand that wisely wounded it.” A meek man is a self-disciplined man.1056 ¶9

He is so disciplined. He sees only the finest. He thinks only the best. He is the one who fulfills the suggestion, “Brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things.”1056 ¶10

We rise to a higher level of consciousness, not because we have curbed our passions, but because we have cultivated our virtues. In truth, a meek man is a man in complete control of his moods, and his moods are the highest, for he knows he must keep a high mood if he would walk with the highest.1056 ¶11

It is my belief that all men can, like Dr. Millikan, change the course of their lives. I believe that Dr. Millikan’s technique of making his desire a present fact to himself is of great importance to any seeker after the “truth.” It is also his high purpose to be of “mutual benefit” that is inevitably the goal of us all. It is much easier to imagine the good of all than to be purely selfish in our imagining. By our imagination, by our affirmations, we can change our world, we can change our future. To the man of high purpose, to the disciplined man, this is a natural measure, so let us all become disciplined men.1056 ¶12

Next Sunday morning, July 15 th , I am speaking as the guest of Dr. Bailes at 10:30 at the Fox-Wilshire Theater on Wilshire Boulevard, near La Cienega. My subject for next Sunday is “Changing Your Future.” It is a subject near to the hearts of us all. I hope you will all come on Sunday to learn how to be the disciplined man, the meek man, who “changes his future” to the benefit of his fellow man.1056 ¶13

If you are observant, you will notice the swift echo or response to your every mood in this message and you will be able to key it to the circumstances of your daily life. When we are certain of the relationship of mood to circumstance in our lives, we welcome what befalls us. We know that all we meet is part of ourselves.1056 ¶14

In the creation of a new life we must begin at the beginning, with a change of mood. Every high mood of man is the opening of the door to a higher level for him. Let us mould our lives about a high mood or a community of high moods. Individuals, as well as communities, grow spiritually in proportion as they rise to a higher ideal. If their ideal is lowered, they sink to its depths; if their ideal is exalted, they are elevated to heights unimagined. We must keep the high mood if we would walk with the highest; the heights, also, were meant for habitation.1056 ¶15

All forms of the creative imagination imply elements of feeling. Feeling is the ferment without which no creation is possible. There is nothing wrong with our desire to transcend our present state. There would be no progress in this world were it not for man’s dissatisfaction with himself. It is natural for us to seek a more beautiful personal life; it is right that we wish for greater understanding, greater health, greater security.1056 ¶16

It is stated in the sixteenth chapter of the Gospel of St. John, “Heretofore have ye asked for nothing in my name; ask and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.” A spiritual revival is needed for mankind, but by spiritual revival I mean a true religious attitude, one in which each individual, himself, accepts the challenge of embodying a new and higher value of himself as Dr. Millikan did. A nation can exhibit no greater wisdom in the mass than it generates in its units.1056 ¶17

For this reason, I have always preached self-help, knowing that if we strive passionately after this kind of self-help, that is, to embody a new and higher concept of ourselves, then all other kinds of help will be at our service. The ideal we serve and hope to achieve is ready for a new incarnation; but unless we offer it human parentage it is incapable of birth. We must affirm that we are already that which we hope to be and live as though we were, knowing like Dr. Millikan, that our assumption, though false to the outer world, if persisted in, will harden into fact.1056 ¶18

The perfect man judges not after appearances; he judges righteously. He sees himself and others as he desires himself and them to be. He hears what he wants to hear. He sees and hears only the good. He knows the truth, and the truth sets him free and leads him to good. The truth shall set all mankind free. This is our spiritual revival.1056 ¶19

Character is largely the result of the direction and persistence of voluntary attention. “Think truly, and thy thoughts shall the world’s famine feed; Speak truly, and each word of thine shall be a fruitful seed; Live truly, and thy life shall be a great and noble creed.”1056 ¶20

Test Yourself Realneville

Tonight is “Test Yourselves,” for faith is not complete until through experiment it has become experience. Now by this I do not mean that you can test God’s Promise; that is by grace. You cannot earn it and, therefore, you cannot test it, but it will be given to you. But your faith will be increased and encouraged as you put his law to the test. It is so fatally easy to make the acceptance of the Christian faith a substitute for living by it. We must live by it.1007 ¶1

So now we come to tonight’s theme. Paul in his 2nd letter to the Corinthians, he’s speaking now not only to the Corinthians but to the whole vast world. He said, “Examine yourselves and see whether you are holding to the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless, of course, you fail to meet the test!”. I hope you will discover that we have not failed. Now, first to examine ourselves…how would tonight you and I examine ourselves? We cannot examine our faith concerning the Promise. We can examine concerning all that is said that is possible to us. The opening words in the earliest gospel, the Gospel of Mark—although it’s second in the order it came first—we find these words, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of heaven is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel”.1007 ¶2

Now, repent means “a radical change of attitude”—why?—towards anything in this world that we either dislike or would like to change. A radical change on our part should produce a corresponding change in the outer world. Now, examine yourselves to see whether you are holding to the faith, are you doing it? In the course of an hour you have unnumbered opportunities to test whether you are holding to the faith. You see a headline, a telephone call, the morning’s mail, the daily paper, all these are suggesting unlovely, horrible things to you. You accept them as fact. Because, you will say these are now facts, the paper has now printed the facts of life, just the fact. A friend calls you on the phone and pours out all the bilge in the world, what they don’t want and what is happening to them that they dislike, not mentioning anything positive, all that’s poured out. And so you listen and you…all that’s coming in. If you understand this law, that imagining creates reality, you should, while seemingly listening on that phone as it’s coming through, like a computer, change everything that is coming through. So at the end all you would have to do is to now do it positively, and listen now for the ring and come through…and hear what as you changed it did come through.1007 ¶3

Now, let me give you a story. The lady is here tonight. I will tell three of her stories, based upon this technique. She said, “I have found my telephone technique infallible. It never fails, but never fails. A friend of mine wanted to take an examination in the courts to be a reporter, a court stenotype reporter. As she mentioned it to me, she filled me with all kinds of reasons why she could never pass. There were nine reasons that she gave. As I heard her, I changed everything I heard as it was coming through, but everything. When it was all over, all that I had to do is now listen for the ring. I heard the phone ring, all in my Imagination, and then I heard what I had brought to a head as I changed and revised the entire conversation, that she had passed.1007 ¶4

“The verdict would not be brought in for six weeks. And in the interval, as I met her, she still kept on that negative state, repeating the negative things why she could not pass.1007 ¶5

At the end of six weeks she called me. As she called me, she said, ‘Do you remember six weeks ago?’ I said, ‘Yes, and you have passed the examination.’ She said, ‘Well, aren’t you surprised?’ She said, ‘Certainly not. Haven’t I taught you and told you that imagining creates reality? Well, did I not imagine that you told me that you had passed? And I remained faithful to my firm conviction that it does produce the results.’” This lady could not understand how this one could really believe that an imaginal act, unseen by the human senses, could actually be held onto and produce the results which it did. She said, “I told you that it would.” She continued giving all the reasons why it ought to have failed. But she said, “Nevertheless, you have passed, haven’t you? Well then, let us drop it right there.” She said, “I found that my telephone technique, Neville, just cannot fail. I could give you dozens and dozens of case histories where it cannot fail.”1007 ¶6

Now, here is another one. “A friend of mine in her fifties desired to change her job for financial reasons, and she thought of a place where she formerly worked, some electronic plant. But she had left it many years ago and she thought she would like to go back. “But my age, I’m in my fifties.” As she heard it, she discounted all the negative parts of the request and then simply heard only the end. That’s all that she heard, over the telephone. Then when the phone rang, she heard this, “They not only gave me the job with an enlarged salary which I wanted, but they have given me the ten years that I formerly worked there. They have added it on to my present work towards my retirement.” So the ten years of the past have not been forgotten, they’ve added it to what she’s now about to do. And whenever she retires, she’s in her fifties—and maybe they do have a plan at sixty-five you must depart—and so, the ten years have not been lost. They’ve been added on to what she’s now about to do, with an increase in salary. She was so thrilled for this additional state of good.1007 ¶7

Now, her third. She said her friend’s maid was overweight. She weighed twenty-five pounds more than she wanted to weigh and her doctor said she must lose the weight. I said to her, “What would you like to weigh?” She said, “A hundred and forty pounds.” I said, “Alright.” She said, “I’ve tried and tried and I can’t lose a pound.” My friend with her telephone technique goes into this act of hers that this maid is now weighing 140 pounds. “Now soon after that I left the city for a few months, and only occasionally would I come in for one day. On that day the maid wasn’t there. I inquired, but she wasn’t there. Then, when I finally came in and met the maid, she said, “I tried so hard to find you to tell that I went all the way down to 140 pounds. And when I weighed 140, I asked the lady for whom I worked if she knew where you were because I had to contact you because I now weigh 140 pounds. But, at the moment I weigh 139 and the reason for it is this: I couldn’t find you when I weighed 140 and I couldn’t stop it, and I went down to 139.”1007 ¶8

So my friend said to her, “What would you like to weigh?” She said, “Well, I couldn’t really get down to 135,” and then she said to herself, “I have news for her.” She didn’t ask her what she did, because she had confessed prior to this that she’d done everything and couldn’t lose a pound when she weighed her 165. In spite of what the doctor told her or her friends told her, she couldn’t lose a pound. So she does not know what technique, if any, she only knows that “I heard her weighing 140.” Now, she said, “I’m going to put her right down to 135 and just leave her there in a nice healthy state.” All this lady does is to actually exercise this technique.1007 ¶9

Now, she examines herself to see whether she is holding to her faith. Well, what is her faith? Her faith is that imagining creates reality; that she firmly believes in God’s promises; and that eventually Christ will awaken in her as her very self; and Christ and God are one therefore she will know eventually that she is God. But in the meanwhile, while she waits in faith for the fulfillment of that promise, she is exercising God’s law: that whatever you desire, believe that you have received it and you will. And so, instead of making a false statement saying I am a Christian and doing nothing about it, she doesn’t make any statement that I’m a Christian or I’m a Jew or I am anything. She’s simply living this principle, making it a part of her life.1007 ¶10

We are told, “Why call me Lord, Lord, and do not the things that I say?” Well, he said all these things. “All things are possible to God,” that’s what he said. He also said, whatever you believe, it will come to pass, no matter what it is that you believe. Can you believe it? Well now, if that is really true and I don’t want all the unlovely things to happen in my world then what am I doing in the course of a day not actually putting it into practice? Why must I wait to the end of a day? Why not do as this lady does now as the phone is ringing? If she doesn’t actually hear it, she is revising it just as it’s coming through. It’s not what I wanted to hear, therefore, it’s not what I’m hearing. And so, she’s not listening to that state. She’s simply putting upon that same wire what ought to come through. And at the end, she knows what she wants to hear, and she’s heard it. And this is what she does.1007 ¶11

Are we not told all through scripture there are those in the world who call themselves leaders, and they are called the blind guides. When the blind lead the blind, they both fall into a pit. And so, who are these blind leaders? He tells us that the whole vast world who are giving as doctrine, as the law of God, the precepts of men. That you can’t eat this, and you can’t wear that, and you can’t do this—all of that belongs to the precepts of men. Hasn’t a thing to do with God’s law. For in God’s law everything is in order. That food will not justify you and commend you to God. You are no worse off if you do not eat and no better off if you do. “That I know and am persuaded by the Lord Christ Jesus that there is nothing unclean in itself; but any man to whom it is unclean, to him it is unclean”.1007 ¶12

Well, you start from there. So someone wants to wallow in it, alright, let him wallow in it. But what he mentions is this, he doesn’t ask you to test the man he’s asking you to test yourself. He’s not saying to you, point to the other man and say, ‘Well, prove it!’ You just walk away. You aren’t going to prove anything. You’re going to go about your own wonderful world knowing that the whole vast world is yourself pushed out and everything in this world is aiding the birth of what you are imagining. So, the behavior of the world relative to you is determined by the concept you hold of yourself. So my concept of myself will determine your behavior relative to me. Therefore, it doesn’t really matter what your individual personal life is. The whole vast world is simply aiding the birth of all of my imaginal acts. Whether it takes one or a hundred thousand to do it, they’ll do it. I don’t have to ask them for their permission, for they are simply animated by my own wonderful human Imagination.1007 ¶13

So I am living in a world of myself pushed out. The whole vast world reflects the being that I am. So he said, “Test yourselves.” Don’t test me, the speaker, Paul. Test yourselves. First, examine yourselves to see if you are holding to the faith. If you are satisfied with that, now test yourselves. Now he asks a simple question, “Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?” Well, the average person if asked that question would answer negatively. But now, is Jesus Christ in me as another, as someone that I think of in the second person and address him as Lord, as Christ? No, if Jesus Christ is in you. Paul goes beyond it and makes this statement now—also in Corinthians but now in the 1st letter to the Corinthians—“Do you not realize that you are the temple of God and the Spirit of God dwells in you?”. Well, do you realize that you are actually the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? Can you answer in the affirmative? Well, if you answer in the affirmative, are you going to address God now as another? His name forever and forever is I AM.1007 ¶14

He did not always reveal himself as I AM. He first revealed himself as God Almighty, El Shaddai. As you read it in the 6th chapter of Exodus, “And so I made myself known unto Abraham, and to Isaac, and to Jacob as God Almighty, but to them I did not reveal my name the Lord”. The Lord means I AM—Yod He Vau He. I did not reveal myself to them as the Lord, as I AM. To you now he’s revealed: his name is I AM. So when you’re told, “Do you not realize you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?”—well, now you do know that you are. Knowing that you are, you are saying I AM. That’s not another, that’s the Spirit of God dwelling in you and you are the temple of the living God. So you don’t turn to a second person to ask anything in this world.1007 ¶15

So when you are asked the question, “Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?” are you going to think of him as a second person, something other than self? It seems arrogant, doesn’t it? But that is what Paul is trying to get over to everyone that he addresses. So I stand here and I know that I am. Did the lady turn to anyone and say, “Take twenty-five pounds of my friend’s maid”? She didn’t. She did it all within her own wonderful human Imagination. Now we are told in scripture, “All things are made by him, and without him was not anything made that was made.” Did twenty-five pounds come off? Yes…and all things are made by him. Well now, who is this one? Hasn’t she found this one called Christ Jesus to be her own wonderful human Imagination, if all things are made by him?1007 ¶16

Now, there is a poem by Robert Browning, at the end of his days, called Reverie. He said, “From the first, power was, I knew.” From the very first, power was, I knew. Then it was revealed to him—“Made known to me that if I would look closely, love were as plainly seen.” If man would look closely…although it’s power, if I would look very, very close, and I know it’s power alright, love would be plainly seen. Well, many years ago, the year 1929, I was taken in Spirit into the divine assembly, where the gods hold judgment. And here, my first encounter was with El Shaddai, God personified as infinite might. It’s a man no bigger than you are but infinite might, as though it could destroy the whole vast universe if it so desired. That’s how you felt in the presence of El Shaddai. But, I was taken from this first to the recording angel and then into the presence of love. Same being…can’t separate God’s power from himself. But what a different face was love, infinite love, the Ancient of Days, wearing the human form divine, all love. Then he embraced me—though power sent me— he embraced me and made me one with this body, and I feel the presence of this body morning, noon and night. My friends know me as this, my relatives know me as this, but I do not feel this. I feel that which embraced me, it is love.1007 ¶17

But, “From the first was power, I knew; but looking closely, love were as plainly seen.” Truly, you can’t separate them, but love is first…and yet you can’t separate them…for Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God, but God is love. He is the Father of all and all will one day receive the gift of being the Father. Meanwhile, exercise his power until one receives that gift. So have faith in the Promise by exercising his law and proving it in the experience. For, faith is not really complete ’til through experiment it becomes, really, one’s own personal experience. And so, this lady knows tonight that she has experienced this. It has worked. Then what are you going to tell her about certain diets to become spiritual, certain meditations to become aware and call it cosmic consciousness? Nonsense! The real gift when it comes, it comes suddenly, in the twinkling of an eye. And you don’t earn it. It could happen this night to all here or to one. It is my desire that it happen to everyone before I depart. It’s my desire. But I am not to know the time or the seasons that God the Father has fixed in his own authority.1007 ¶18

So we are called one by one as the temple is being reconstructed. All the things you and I do here in this world are like sketches in the sand, all will vanish. The Bible, which is the word of God, is forever…it will never vanish. It’s engraved on the rock and the rock is Christ, as we’re told in Corinthians. We have forgotten the Rock that begot us, as told us in Deuteronomy, the 32nd chapter. “Of that Rock that begot us we are unmindful”. And then Paul tells us in his Corinthians, I think it’s the 10th chapter, that the Rock is Christ. Well, that Rock that is Christ is the gospel. It is the gospel itself. It is all contained in us.1007 ¶19

And he uses the word Rock because of vision. Back in the thirties, sitting in the Silence, not thinking of anything in particular, here I am, just with my eyes closed in contemplation, and suddenly before my eyes comes this quartz, a huge rock, just one solid rock. Well, a rock by definition means “the limit of contraction.” That’s what God took upon himself: death, the rock. And as I looked at it, intrigued by this rock, it suddenly fragmented itself. Then all these little pieces were gathered together by some unseen hand and molded quickly into a living statue, sitting in a lotus position. As I looked at this wonderful-looking creature, all seated in the lotus posture, I noted that I am looking at myself. I’m actually looking at myself, the being that I now call Neville. And then the whole thing began to glow and glow, and became radiant. When it reached the limit of intensity, it all exploded. And I awoke, sitting in my chair.1007 ¶20

So the symbolism is true…engraved upon the Rock that is Christ is the eternal word, and God has put the eternal word into the mind of man. And here, reaching the end of the run of the race, of the great fight, it was revealed to me that this symbolism is true. Right in my mind came the rock, and out of it, as it was fragmented, all the parts; every little piece was a part that I had played…every little piece…the villain, the hero, the rich man, the poor man, the beggar man, the thief, all this in my dream I had played. Put them all together and they form the being that comes now to the end of race. And it glows just like the sun and reaches the limit of intensity and then explodes. As you’re told, the sun one day will simply come to its end…all within the mind of man.1007 ¶21

So tonight, you can take this simple, simple principle and start with words of Paul, the 5th verse of the 13th chapter of [2nd] Corinthians, “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are holding to the faith.” Now, when you are satisfied that you are, well now, test yourself. Tomorrow morning’s mail will bring good news or maybe not so good news. Now, put yourself to the test. Don’t call the party up and say, “You should not have written this letter,” and do anything about that one…that is simply coming your way. Now you revise it and change it completely. The telephone rings and you simply are not listening to all the stuff that’s coming through, the nonsense, and you’re hearing only what you want to hear. When it’s all over, as the lady said to me in her letter, “I then sit quietly and listen for the phone. I have it ring in my Imagination and then I hear what I should have heard before. Then I drop it. If I should think of it in the future, I will repeat that process of hearing it ring and only what I want to hear.” And she said, “Neville, it is infallible. It just cannot fail…this telephone technique.” So I pass it on to you.1007 ¶22

As Fawcett said, “The secret of imagining is the greatest of all problems to the solution of which the mystic aspires. For supreme power, supreme wisdom, supreme delight lie in the solution of this far off mystery.” So I ask all to share in the search for the solution of this mystery. Now, she has contributed this night her discovery and she calls it her telephone technique using. And she uses the word revision, “I revise.” Well now, the Bible uses that word differently. It is not called revision in the Bible, but it is right in the very first words of the central character in the Book of Mark, he calls it “repent.” Well, repent means “a radical change of attitude.” That’s what it means. Well, revision is just such a radical change of attitude. I use a modern word because the word repent has grown barnacles. We think of a person repenting, he should get down on his belly and move forward like a worm towards someone for whom he repents. He goes in and confesses to someone, and for what? You don’t confess to anyone when you repent, what person in this world? Are we not told in the book of Psalms, “Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, O Lord”. Have I sinned against a priest, a rabbi, a minister or someone else? I can only sin against myself and the self of man is God. So, “Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, O Lord.”1007 ¶23

So what…must I go to someone and say, “Father, I want to repent”? Here is one just as foolish as the other. All day long he’s wondering where the next is coming from, and not knowing just how to get it, when he’s teaching this. He comes under that 15th chapter of the Book of Matthew…and all of the false teachers of the world, who are giving us now man-made precepts and calling them the doctrines of God. So they give as doctrines the precepts of men, and they are blind leaders of the blind. But what did he tell his disciples? Because when the Pharisees came and said to him, “Your disciples are violating the precepts, the traditions of the elders…they are not washing their hands when they eat.” And he said, “Why do you transgress the commandments of God for the precepts of men?” And so, you want them to accept…he said, “Nothing that goes into the belly defiles a man.” What goes into the mouth cannot defile, for it passes through the stomach and then it passes on. It’s what proceeds out of the mouth that defiles. What comes out of the heart of man defiles the man, not what goes into the belly. And so you will not find that as defiling man, but you give it out as something coming from God. So, you’ve transgressed the commandments of God for the precepts of men.1007 ¶24

You’ll find it all over. Man condemning man for violating what he believes man ought to do to attain salvation. You can’t attain it. You will obtain it one day because it will be a gift, but you can’t attain it. In that statement in Luke, which the King James Version uses the word attain, but the Rev. Std. Ver. uses the word obtain. Look it up in your concordance and you will see the word is obtain. When he is discussing now about marriage in heaven, whose wife is this one after being married to so many? He said, “The children of this age marry and are given in marriage; but those who are considered worthy to obtain to that age, they neither marry nor are they given in marriage, for they cannot die any more, for they are sons of the resurrection”…“They are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection”. But, it didn’t make sense to the translators of the Rev. Std. Version and they changed the word, suggesting to man that he can attain it by his efforts in this world. You can’t do it. It’s coming to you whether you live wisely or not. Continue living foolishly, you’re still going to get the gift. It doesn’t matter what a man does in this world. In the eyes of the world he may be the most horrible person, he is still going to get God’s gift. Not one will be lost.1007 ¶25

But why not take his wonderful, not only promise to heart, but take his law, and live wisely while we live in this world. And just simply bring about all the lovely things in this world. I find it much easier to be able to pay my bills than to run. Therefore, why run when a law allows you to pay the bills? You don’t have to duck them, you simply get enough brought into the bank, your deposit, to pay the bills. I find it easier to be able at the end of a certain period to say, “Let us take off for a few months,” than to wonder, “Well now, we can’t go any place, can’t afford it.” I find it much easier to live that way. But it doesn’t make me better in the eyes of myself, called God, than the one who does not know this law, or knowing it, would not apply it; makes no difference because, in the end, both of us will be the one being. There’s only one God.1007 ¶26

So in the end, you and I are not only brothers, in the end, we are God the Father. For this is that compound unity, the one made up of others, and all will be the one. But in the interval, while we are running the race, why not take this wonderful law and apply it wisely toward definite objectives in this world. And you find it, it is much easier. Like the fellow who comes into the bar, he said, “You know”—when they wouldn’t serve the thing because they called him a bum and he said, “Get out of here.” He said, “You think I’m a bum? I let you know I’m a very important person. I’ve known what it is to be rich and what it is to be poor, and of the two I’d rather be rich.” Now, he thought he was going to ask something else, no, he’d rather be rich.1007 ¶27

Well, I’m not saying you want a million dollars or a billion dollars…but may I tell you from experience…for I know the sensation from experience of what it is to be dispossessed because of lack of means to pay the rent. I had that experience…I’m not going to go a way back in the centuries of the past…I mean this present embodiment. Here I had it and I didn’t know that I had it. I had it given to me, but no one told me it was given to me. Years later I discovered a gift that was given to me when I was going through these experiences, but I didn’t know I had it. Here tonight, you can have a million dollars but do not know it and go hungry for want of a dollar. If you don’t know it, well then, go hungry. No one who holds it in deposit for you is going to come on the street and say, “You know you have a million dollars here.” He’s using it. Until you make the demand, he isn’t going to release it. You have to make the demand. Well, the whole thing is given to man. Man has to appropriate it. No one is going to come and say, “You know, you have it” and force it upon you. You have to take it…yours for the taking. And so, everyone in this world has to appropriate it, and you do it by applying God’s law…just as this lady did in her wonderful telephone technique. And it’s perfectly marvelous.1007 ¶28

Now, another one came on Friday night. She’s here tonight with her husband. And she said, “You know, I woke up as though someone pushed me up into a seated position and I was literally screaming the words, ‘Love conquereth all things and is kind!’ Here I am sitting up, having just screamed it out, and my husband is sound asleep next to me. He hadn’t heard me at all; I screamed that in the Spirit. But to me it was so audible, to me I thought I had screamed it here. But, I hadn’t screamed it here. I couldn’t have screamed it here, for I would have awakened him…because in the past when I came through with some scream or some horrible sound, he would instantly wake. But here, I must have screamed it from within, and yet I found myself sitting up, as though I sat up and screamed it, but I was being pushed up, ‘Love conquereth all things and is kind.’” So here, in her wonderful world, this whole thing is coming through. As I said to her last Friday night, keep on sending these letters. They are fantastically marvelous and they are encouraging to everyone who hears them. I’ll say to my friend tonight, send me some more of your experiences, your telephone techniques, for it helps everyone who hears it.1007 ¶29

Now tonight, let us take it apart. We still have a little while—let us take it apart. You start with yourself first. Do you believe that imagining creates reality? You don’t tell me, you test yourself, “Examine yourself and see.” Do you really believe it? You answer only yourself. Well, if you then can say yes to that, “I believe imagining creates reality,” now comes the next, well now, “Test yourself.” The next sentence, “Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?” Well now, come back to that. Jesus Christ is in me and Neville said to me tonight he is not a second person, he’s not a third person. And then, really, can I be that bold to actually claim that I am he? Am I not told in the 8th chapter of John, “You will die in your sins except you believe that I am he”. You think another is talking to you and telling you that you are going to die in your sins unless you believe that he, another than yourself, is he. Isn’t so at all; the drama is unfolding in me. I am talking to myself. You, Neville, limited by your five senses, you will continue missing the mark in life and therefore dying in your sin—for sin is to miss the mark—unless you believe that I am he. If you now believe that I am he, the one the world worships as the Lord and all things are possible to him, well then, I would take it from here and test myself.1007 ¶30

So, all he said is, “It is done.” He said to this one, “According to your faith be it unto you.” He’s speaking to himself. To everyone it is so, it is done, and then results follow. They do not precede, they always follow. They always wait. The evidence comes after the action, so it is up to me to perform the action. The action is, things are as I would like them to be, and persuade myself that it is so. Then let the results come bearing witness of my action. And this is how you are called upon to operate in this world. It is not written in detail, as we told you the last time you were here, these are sketches. These are really sketches and you fill it in with your life, just sketches.1007 ¶31

I turned on the TV this morning just to check my watch and I happened to turn on the Today program. The New York Times editor of the drama was being interviewed. He was asked if there’s a change taking place in the drama of Today? He said yes, an obvious change just started, and he mentioned Ionesco…that the odd thing that you stop and finish as you did in the old. There was a plot and you started here and you finished up here, and you expected it. This is something left for the individual viewer to fill in for himself.1007 ¶32

Now, I had the pleasure this past week of seeing one of his plays at the Huntington Hartford. A friend of mine, who is here tonight, very generously gave us seats. We went on down, and it was just about half-full because, undoubtedly, the theme wouldn’t appeal. The whole thing, six characters, the king, the entire play taking place he is seated in a wheel chair, and then these five around him. Here is man and his five senses. It’s called The King Dies. Well, you can’t do this as you would on a camera…on camera, when at a moment when they all froze, as I have done in my Imagination. It would have been perfect on camera. But here you couldn’t take five adults, who are not dancers to begin with, and hope that they would stop at a certain moment and show that they were immobilized because he, at that moment, seemed to be God. He comes through again and once more they are all animated. And this whole wonderful play unfolding…started at quarter of nine, came quarter past ten, just right. The four of us who saw it went out of there walking on air. I haven’t been so thrilled in the theater in the longest while.1007 ¶33

And so, here this morning, just by accident I turned on the TV to check my watch and here the end, the last five minutes of the interview. Had I known he would be interviewed, I’d have had him on for the entire interview. But I got in just about ten minutes to eight, and here he’s telling in his own wonderful way what he sees coming in the theater, in TV, in all media of this wonderful world of ours where you and I go sometimes to be entertained, sometimes to be instructed. He mentioned another producer, but I can’t recall the name of the other. Having just seen Ionesco his, I was all ears to hear what he had to say. That was exactly what we came away with the feeling, that here was this wonderful presentation of what is taking place in man. He’s waiting…he’s going to discover the whole vast world is himself pushed out. And when he arrests the activity within himself that he thinks is taking place out there, everything out there is going to stand still and he will know he is the king. He is king…and everything here bears witness of the activity taking place within him. Unfortunately, it closed Saturday night, so you can’t go and see it now. But, undoubtedly, someone will revive it…but, a perfectly wonderful presentation of real theater.1007 ¶34

Now, tonight, you go out and make things stand still, too. Then you rearrange it in your mind’s eye as it ought to be. Then release the activity, let them go about their business, and they will rearrange themselves to mirror this rearrangement of your own mind. That is how we live in this world.1007 ¶35

Now, let us go into the Silence.1007 ¶36

Jacob's Ladder: Christ

Mr. Herbert Hoover made this statement at a convention of the G.O.P in San Francisco. I know that he has been belittled in many ways, but may I tell you he’s one of the truly great leaders of our country. This is what he said: “Human history, with its forms of governments, its revolutions, its wars, and, in fact, the rise and fall of nations could be written in terms of the rise and fall of ideas implanted in the mind of men.” Now here is a man who really put himself through college—he had no money to begin with—and he rose to the highest office in our land. Everything that he proposed to bring about a change which he fell heir to, this horrible thing, his follower put into, well, he executed it, but he gave him no credit for it. The one that fell heir to it was crippled, as you know. The country was crippled. The representative of our country always represents what we are: We felt crippled; we couldn’t stand on our own feet. He couldn’t stand on his own feet, and so he was raised up bodily. Every time he had to stand and address anyone he had to be lifted up. But he put into effect everything that Hoover said. And his quotes that you think are his quotes are not really his quotes. “We have nothing to fear but fear.” That’s not his; that was Thoreau, long before he was even brought into this world.981 ¶1

So let us go back to Hoover: “Human history, with its forms of governments, its revolutions, its wars, and, in fact, the rise and fall of nations could be written in terms of the rise and fall of ideas implanted in the mind of men.” That’s what Hoover said.981 ¶2

Now let us go back to scripture…and here we go to the 8th chapter of John. I hope I can interpret it in the way as we go back to Nehemiah: “And they read from the book, from the law of God, with interpretation, so that the people understood what was read”. That’s the 8th chapter of Nehemiah. I hope I can now explain to you the meaning behind what is now said in the 8th of John. And this is it: “I am from above, you are from below; you are of this world, I am not of this world. But I have said to you, unless you believe that I am he, you will die in your sins.”981 ¶3

Now the word “sin” means “to miss the mark.” That’s all that it means; it has no other meaning, “to miss the mark.” “Unless you believe that I am he, you will die in your sins.” So I ask you, what do you want to be? What would you like to be? And you tell me, I would like to be secure, really. Alright, you’d like to be secure. Unless you believe that I am secure, you remain missing that mark. For sinning is missing the mark. Unless you believe that you yourself are secure, so you can say “I am secure,” though there’s not anything in this world to support it, there is no evidence in this world to sustain your claim, but unless you believe I am he, you die in your sins. For the name of God is I AM. There is no other power. There is no other God. There’s only God. God is one, and his name is I AM. “Unless you believe I am he, you die in your sins.”981 ¶4

Now this is the story of scripture. Eventually you will find that you and I, in the beginning, could not believe we were God. I tell you now that you and I are one. I know that we are one, that I do know, but I tell you we are one. Well, you can’t believe it. So at the beginning God said to us, his creative power, “We are one”…couldn’t believe it. So we fell from that. We couldn’t believe it, so we missed the mark. I could not actually believe I am God, so we fell: “I tell you that you are sons of the Most High, all of you; nevertheless, you will die like men, and fall as one man, O princes” …because I can’t believe it.981 ¶5

So he sets up in the beginning a pattern by which we can believe it. So here’s a pattern: He is in the beginning a father, the father of one son, and that son is David. Well, I do not know that I am the son of David, and you do not know that you are the son of David, and you do not know that you and I are one. We don’t know it. So we descend, we fall: “And no one has ever ascended into heaven but he who first descended from heaven, the Son of man” …who is in heaven. Is that prophetic, this present tense? Is in heaven, is that prophetic or is it really now a fact? He descends and then he ascends. He descends to prove a prophecy: You are truly the sons of God, and you and I are one. But I can’t believe it. I have no feeling that you and I are one. I have no feeling that I am actually the being who is the father of David. So if I don’t, then I must descend into this wonderful play and go through the horrors of it all that I may discover I really am he who is God, who is the father of David. And so I descend. And then I ascend in the same manner as Moses lifts up that serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man who descended. For if he is really, if the Son of God must become the Son of man, well then, the Son of man becomes the Son of God. And God the Father and God the Son are one.981 ¶6

So here, in this wonderful world of ours, I tell you, the rise and fall of nations, not only individuals, but nations, could be written in terms of the rise and fall of ideas implanted in the mind of men. Do you really believe you are the Father? You may say, “I hope I could believe it.” Well, that is what took place in the beginning. They didn’t believe it. So the sons…he said, “Ye are sons of the Most High, all of you, sons of God,” but they could not believe it. They couldn’t feel oneness with God. So, you go down…all will go down that you may know you and I are one. And all of us had to go down and descend into a world prepared to reveal to us that we really are God. So we descended into this world…and we’ve gone through hell, all the fires of hell. And then, one by one, we rise to discover we really are God. We are the father of his only begotten son.981 ¶7

And how in this world could I ever convince anyone, talking to them here on this level, that you and I are one? They will tell me, “But you go home to your place and you have a little money, and maybe I have none. Or maybe you have far more than I have, and the majority that I know have so much…and so, who are you?” And so, they’re not interested, and they go their separate ways in this world. They can’t conceive for one moment we are one…and the majority don’t want to feel that we are one. “You are white, and she is black, and that one is yellow, and we are one? I don’t want that.” And I tell you, we are one. We fell into this seeming disunity, this division, and we will now rise into unity, into the oneness that is God. Everyone in this world will do it.981 ¶8

But while we are here, you can prove this that the rise and fall of ideas will determine the environment in which the individual lives as he allows these ideas to either raise or fall within him. So I say to you, what do you want to be? You name it. Well, unless you believe I am he, then you will die in your sins. Sinning is you will miss the mark, you will not meet it. Unless you sleep this night in the assumption that I am the man, the woman, that I want to be, and persist in that assumption, you’re not going to hit that mark. So I tell you tonight, the assumption should be, aside from earthly things of Caesar, you should persist in the assumption that I am God. You say that’s crazy, insane, arrogant! Let the whole vast world say that. I’m telling you from experience you’ve got to. You’ve got to actually feel that you are. I don’t mean some little stupid thing, like a Hitler, or a Stalin, or these people who build these little things and have them all crumble, no. I mean you must really believe the story. This is the Story of Stories as told in scripture. It begins in the Old Testament and it comes to its fruition in the New.981 ¶9

If I told you this night…so he comes into a place, and here he finds it’s night time, and he takes one stone and he puts it as a pillow, and he sleeps upon a stone. Then he has a dream and the dream is that he sees a stairway leading up to heaven. Above him is God. And on it—in the E manuscript, there are three manuscripts, but the E I like best—instead of saying “angels descending and ascending,” it is “the gods are ascending and descending.” That’s the E manuscript of the Book of Genesis…and there are three. And he sees the gods ascending and descending. And when he awakens from his dream, Jacob said, “Behold, this is the place of God; and I did not know it” . Well, what do you think that stone was? Tonight when you go to bed you put your head down, don’t you? God’s name is I AM. Your skull is a stone, is it not? He rests upon a stone…that’s the stone. And he dreams of a staircase leading up to heaven, and it is God. And God said to him, “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and Isaac” and then this fantastic promise that he makes to Jacob. Jacob awoke from his sleep and he said, “Surely, the Lord is in this place; and I did not know it.” Then he took the stone, which is his own head, his skull, and he anointed it. He put oil upon it and made it the temple of the Lord. This is the temple of the Lord. God is in you; his name is I AM. There is no other God. That is God.981 ¶10

So I tell you, unless you believe I am he then you will die in your sins…in the sense that you will continue missing the mark. You must assume that you are now the man, the woman that you want to be and persist in that assumption. And may I tell from my own personal experience it will not fail you. There’s only God in this world. And people speak of another way…there is no other way. The story as told in the Old Testament is the absolute foundation of the world; the New Testament, not understood by Christians, is its fulfillment. That is the fulfillment of these stories of the Old. But, as we are told, even to this day when Moses is read a veil is over their mind; they don’t understand it. They don’t understand that the God that spoke to the prophets is in us as I AM.981 ¶11

And tonight when you go to bed you don’t think for one moment that God is resting on a stone, and the stone is your own skull. You put your head down and you go to sleep and you dream. Well, the dreamer in scripture is God. There’s no other God. He is dreaming this world, your world. So you put your head down, and you think, well now, I’m John Brown, and I go to bed. That is God. And his head, he is resting on a stone, the stone is your skull. One day you are going to awaken in your skull, for that is the stone that was anointed. As told us in the 28th chapter of the Book of Genesis: he anointed the stone, he put oil upon it, and he said, “This is now the house of God.” This is the house…you are the temple of the Lord. So I put my head on it. What am I dreaming this night when I go to bed? Let me dream that I am one who is contributing to the good of the world, awakening everyone that I touch in this world. That I could actually carry the story that was the eternal story, as told us in the Old and revealed in the New, but not understood by those who practice or call themselves Christians. They don’t understand it.981 ¶12

Yesterday, hundreds of millions attended service. What did they understand? I turned on TV…I always get up early, I was up at five, and I went and I turned on the TV to see the Bowl. A lovely display of lilies and the lovely girls and boys and the men who sang, and all the musical department, marvelous. And then I heard this nonsense, sheer nonsense concerning the resurrection, but sheer nonsense. I tell you, you are the whole story of the Bible, as told you in the 40th chapter of Psalms: “In the book it is all about me.” Everything said in the scripture is all about you. Now when you say “I am” that’s he. It’s all about that being called God.981 ¶13

Now, unless you believe I am what I want to be, well then, I can’t reach it. How can I reach it when I’m the only power in the world? I must believe that I am what I would like to be or else I cannot reach it. So, “Unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.”981 ¶14

Now you say a man is telling people…listen to the words carefully: “You are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world. So I said unto you, unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.”981 ¶15

So when he was brought before Pilate…this is all a drama…forget the physical state because it didn’t take place on earth save in the form of a play. It never took place other than, say, a play, as you’re told in the 3rd chapter of Galatians it’s a play. One must interpret the play. And so, he comes before Pilate and he does not answer Pilate’s questions. He said, “Do you not know that I have the power to set you free, and the power to crucify you?” He said, “You have no power unless it be given you from above” . I am from above…I’ve come to do my Father’s will…I’ll drink the cup to the very end. But you have no power…no one in this world has any power over you unless you by your assumptions are giving it to him. So you’ve assumed that you are less than that one? Well then, he’s going to play the part of one superior to you. So I’ve assumed I’m this, that or the other, well then, by my assumption of what I am, everyone in my world that reflects my assumption will play higher or lower parts. I will think they’re really real in my world…and they are not. There is nothing but God and God is I AM. There is no other God! So if I dare to assume that I am a certain state, and that state is less than what I believe that others, so-called others, and there aren’t any others, well then, the others must come into my world to play it, and make me feel that I am less than they are. And there is no other.981 ¶16

So I tell you, you are the only being in this world. You are God, and there is nothing but God. You are every being, because you are a Protean being, you are playing all the parts. Watch your dream at night. Well, when you dream at night, don’t you dream of numberless people? But aren’t you playing all the parts? You go to a psychiatrist and they tell you it means this, it means that, aren’t you playing all the parts? Is that not a Protean being…you the dreamer dreaming and all the parts you are playing? But you don’t think that this is the dream? This is just as much the dream, and you are playing all these parts, too.981 ¶17

So I tell you, Mr. Hoover was perfectly right…condemned as he was. He sent me his little pamphlet. I gave it to a man to use on NBC and he never returned it. Mr. Hoover signed it for me and asked me to send a copy of my book Awakened Imagination, which I did. He said he would put it in his library at Stanford University. So he accepted my book and he sent me his pamphlet. I, in turn, gave it to Elmer Petersen, was his name, who was on NBC in the news department and I never received it from him. But I gave it to him. It was signed by the [...], in which he thanked me for my concept of Imagination, because he had gone out on the limb. But I wrote my book before his little pamphlet came out. We never met, and my book certainly did not influence him, because he never read it. He heard of it after. He was brought together by mutual friends. I wrote this book.981 ¶18

And he said this at the convention, where he said that human history, no matter what it is, its revolutions, its wars, and the rise and fall of nations could be written in terms of the rise and fall of ideas implanted in the mind of men. But he knew from experience, because he put himself through Stanford. He didn’t have a nickel and he worked himself through Stanford, and rose to the highest office in our land. And may I tell you, in spite of the Depression, which he fell heir to, the one that took over instituted many of his ideas. But then, we were completely, I would say, incapable of standing on our own feet, so we lifted up a man who couldn’t stand on his own feet. He had only inherited wealth, not earned wealth.981 ¶19

May I tell you, there is no…it’s all the difference in the world when a man actually earns money as against inherited wealth. It’s all the difference in the world. Everyone wants to have a lot of money coming in out of the nowhere. But when one actually earns it, he writes a play, or he goes to work and he produces something…that sort of income…I can tell you from my own experience because I have both…and it’s all the difference in the world. To earn something by your own efforts, and then to receive it coming out of the nowhere, that is entirely different. Well, he earned it, that man earned it. And he could actually say to us that watch your ideas because the rise and fall of ideas implanted in your mind will determine the world in which you live. And that is our world.981 ¶20

So I ask you to really believe it. It’s told you in the 8th chapter of John: “Unless you believe that I am he, you will die in your sins,” you’ll miss the mark. You will not reach your goal unless you believe that I am now the rich man or whatever man you want to be. You want to be happy? Well, unless you assume while you’re not happy that I am, you won’t reach it. You want to be secure? Unless you assume that I am secure, you’re not going to reach it. Because it’s…the only power in the world is God and God is I AM. So, unless you assume that I am the man that I want to be, I’m not going to reach it. There is no power in the world that can push me there; I must assume it.981 ¶21

And then will come this marvelous thing within you. Now give a thought that when he placed his head upon the rock and made the contact with eternity, just think of it. He placed his head upon a rock, the rock being his skull, and here came that wonderful ladder. It was circular, may I tell you from my own experience, it’s a circular ladder, like a serpent, and above him stood the Lord. Do you ever think of the ladder as Christ, the mediator between God and man? Did you ever think of it, that here, I put my head on my bed tonight, although it’s a pillow I’m really on my skull; and at that moment, if consciousness awakens, I’m in contact with the higher. Well, the contact, the mediator between the human nature and divinity is Christ. And that is the true ladder of Jacob. You think of it. I tell you it’s true. That is Jacob’s ladder: Because no one has ever ascended into heaven but he who descended, the Son of man who is the Son of God. Well, if God’s Son becomes the Son of man, is not the Son of man destined to become the Son of God? And if God and his Son are one…can’t you see it? There’s only God playing all the parts.981 ¶22

And so I tell you, you and I are one. I mean it seriously, in the most intimate manner we are one. But if one does not believe it, or they can’t get it, they can’t quite grasp it, well then, they will descend that spiral stairway. But when they ascend they will have evidence of the oneness of us all. Because before they descended they were told that you are sons of God. Well, God is a father if he has sons—“you are sons of God”—therefore, if they ascend to God, they must then have a son, and that son is David. So when they ascend they discover they are the father of David; and they now know what they did not know or could not believe until they descended into the fires to discover that we are one. There’s only one in this world, only God, nothing but God. So there’s only God and when you say “I am” that’s he.981 ¶23

Now in the world of Caesar, believe it, and go forward. Actually this night when you go to bed, put your head on the true pillow. He called it a stone. Well, it’s a stone, it’s your skull, and there you dare to assume that you are tonight the man, the woman that you would like to be, and just assume it. Tomorrow, if the world denies it, reason denies it, what does it matter? You persist in the assumption that it is so, and, may I tell you, it will become so. But don’t forget when it becomes so how you brought it to pass. Don’t forget the Lord. Do not start worshipping another. There is no other…there is no other God.981 ¶24

We are inclined to believe that he or she, they are in the social register, and one must know them, or this one is so and so. Forget that! No one in this world is more important than you, but no one. But no one! I have yet to meet one person in this world that I have ever felt more important, never! Yes, I would meet and love Mr. Einstein, and love him for his contribution to this world of mathematics and physics. I would love him. I once had a chance to meet him and it did not come to an end; it wasn’t consummated. I would have loved to have met him. I would have loved to have met many. But I have never once met anyone or heard of anyone I thought my superior. Arrogant? Alright, call it what you will. I have awakened from the dream of life. I am the Father of God’s only begotten Son, who is David. Well, if you tell me anyone is greater, well then, you’re going to mention someone greater than God? And I do not know anyone greater than God. Weak as I am, limited as I am, yes, I could drop this night, and tomorrow you’ll hear the news Neville died last night, that’s perfectly alright. But I still, at the moment, cannot conceive of anyone walking this earth that I feel superior to myself. Yet, I do not feel, knowing what I do, superior to anyone in this world. I cannot feel superior to anyone, but I cannot feel inferior to anyone. So we are one. There is only one being and that being is God.981 ¶25

And when I could not in the beginning—all of us were together—believe that we were God when he told us in the 82nd Psalm, when he told us that we were all sons of the Most High, and that we were one with God, we couldn’t believe it. And then he had to bring us to the consciousness of being God: “You are sons of God, sons of the Most High; nevertheless, you will die like men and fall as one man, O ye princes.” What a cry! And the one who knew it is waiting for us all to return to the consciousness of being the very one who told us in the beginning, and he sets up a pattern by which we return. There’s only one way of returning, and we return by this pattern man, called in scripture, Christ. We return as God. Now let us go into the Silence.981 ¶26

Invisible

Tonight, I hope I can show you this invisible you. It’s far more real than the visible you. The eternal body of man is the imagination. That is God Himself: the divine body, Jesus Christ. We are His members. This is the body that is crucified on humanity. Now, there’s a story told in the eighth chapter of the Book of Luke: “And the crowds crushed upon Him, and Jesus said, ‘Who was it that touched me?’ And then, when they all denied it, Peter said, ‘The multitudes surround you, and they all press upon you.’ But Jesus said, ‘Someone touched me, for I perceive that power has gone forth from me.’” Here, all the multitudes are trying to touch Him, which shows that His body is the instrument through which the gift was conferred.934 ¶1

What was the gift? If you see it in your mind’s eye—multitudes surrounding one person, all trying to touch Him—and undoubtedly, all touched Him if they could take it physically. But they were trying to touch the spiritual man. And what was that gift? Because only one person succeeded in touching Him, and she had an issue of blood for 12 years, and no one could cure it. I need not tell you in detail what it means. A woman who is hemorrhaging for 12 years—therefore, she cannot conceive. You see in this wonderful mystery that His body is essential to the act of regeneration. This I know from experience, for when I was taken in spirit into the presence of the risen Lord, and here He was all love—infinite love. When I asked, or rather when He asked the question, and I answered it correctly, for the question was simple: “What is the greatest thing in the world?” And I answered, “Love.” And then He embraced me. Our bodies fused. We became one body—one body. “He who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him.” The word “touch”—“who touched me”—means “to attach to.” It means “to fasten to.” We are told in Scripture that if a man knows the harlot, he becomes one with her. It is giving you a story without trying to spell it out so that people get offended. And here was a fusion with love. It was a creative act. One becomes one with the being. I felt no sexual act, but it far, far transcended any enjoyment that any physical sexual act could ever give to any person in this world. It transcends anything that man could conceive concerning the creative act. “Who touched me? Someone touched me.” And she had a hemorrhage for 12 years. And she was instantly cured of that condition, and she conceived. And He said, “Your faith has made you whole. Daughter, go in peace.”934 ¶2

You see, there’s a body here. It’s an actual body. And when I say that the divine body is all imagination, and that is Jesus Christ. Man’s concept of imagination is so flimsy, so strange, that he can’t see it as a reality, far more real than anything in this world. He can see it as omnipresent, but he sees himself as a man who imagines. And here I’m imagining, and I’m standing here. But is my imagination confined to this little body? I tell you: it isn’t. I tell you that now, at this very moment, I could think of my friends in Barbados, London, Australia, Chicago, Cincinnati, and bring them all here—I don’t have to travel—and see them all together in my mind’s eye right here. I can take the being that I really am, and then exercise it as I’m called upon to do it.934 ¶3

Now, here, the story is told in Genesis. But it’s told so beautifully that no one—unless he’s a student of Scripture—will investigate it to see it. And the angel of the Lord wrestles through the night with Jacob. And when he saw, he did not prevail against Jacob. And Jacob asked him his name, and he wouldn’t, at the moment, tell him. He touched him, and then he asked Jacob his name. And Jacob said, “Jacob.” He said, “Your name shall now be known as ‘Israel,’ which means ‘a man who rules as God.’” And seeing that the dawn was coming, and he could not prevail against Jacob, he touched the hollow of his thigh, and the hollow of his thigh shrank. Well, you’ll take it literally if you do not know, and you do not have the desire to go further and investigate. What is it that is shrinking here? You said the hollow of his thigh shrank, and then Jacob limped. Look it up and see what “thigh” represents in Scripture. It’s the creative parts of man. The act is over, and so he shrinks. The completed act. The man is incapable then of continuing the act, because the act is over. It’s the creative act with God, and so he shrank.934 ¶4

This God of whom I speak is your own wonderful human imagination. When I stood mentally on the deck of a ship while seated physically in a hotel room in Barbados, and then with my imaginary hand, I held the rail. And I could feel the salt of the sea on the rail, as it always is. I could smell the rawness of the sea, and I could look back on an island, where I am seated on that island in my hotel room, yet I am looking at it from a ship at sea, all in my imagination. When they told me that I could not get out for months and months and months, for there was no room on the two ships servicing the island, and I had no concept of that. I simply knew that all things were possible through Jesus Christ. And this is before my experience of the waking within me to find out who I really am. I only knew this power could be used long before that. I had no concept of such awakening until, well, only 12 years ago. And yet, as I did it—and I felt the satisfaction, the same satisfaction—I couldn’t continue doing it. In other words, I was touched. I fastened myself to that ship, and then I couldn’t continue in the act. To me, it seemed completed, just like a creative act. And then, I simply broke it and woke, seated on a chair in my hotel room. To find, in hours, I had noticed that I was going to sail on the next sailing of a ship—that ship—for the place I wanted, which was New York City.934 ¶5

I fastened myself to it. Eventually, years later, the whole thing unfolded within me as to what really took place back in 1929, when I stood in the presence of the risen Lord. Well, now, who stood there? My body was in my hotel room in New York City, and yet I had the sensation of motion. I stood in the presence of love. I had to be taken in spirit. And He who stood before me seemed to me as real as anything in this world—more so. Infinite love is man—just man. And I can’t just cry and say—I will say He’s the Ancient of Days. You can’t put time on Him. He’s beyond time. He’s the Ancient of Days. And at that moment, when He actually embraced me and we fused, a thrill beyond the wildest dreams permeated my body. But it had to be the body of spirit, because my body, as you see it now, was on a bed in New York City. Now, the word touch also means not only “to attach to” and “to fasten to.” It means “to set on fire,” “to kindle,” “to light.” And when I returned, my room was lit. No artificial light was on, and it was four in the morning. There was no full moon—no light on the outside to illuminate my room—and my room was luminous. And it did not subside, for, it seemed to me, at least, I would say, 15, 20 minutes. It was simply luminous. You are set on fire by that union. And then, as the years go on—30 years later—then the whole thing erupted within me and His whole story, for He had impressed Himself upon me at that moment.934 ¶6

And this—I know this body is essential in the work of regeneration. It is an actual creative act. Trust me. I tell you from my own experience: it happened to me; it will happen to everyone. But you will say, “There are billions of us, and how could it happen?” Everyone incorporated into that body becomes the same being, and He becomes the one, and they become those who are used in that office. It’s a peculiar mystery. So don’t think “one being.” It is one being, but one being made up of all, as told us in the 27th chapter of Isaiah: “I will gather you one by one.” Who? O Israel. Well, “Israel” was the name given to Jacob after he shrank. That was the beginning. “I will gather you one by one, O Israel.” First of all, He has tied them in the furnaces of affliction, and then He calls us one by one by one. Each is incorporated into that one body. Each then becomes the body. Each becomes the spirit, and each is playing the part, calling us all, one by one, into that state. And there is an actual union that takes place. And then comes the regeneration.934 ¶7

That comes, then, the resurrection of the individual who is incorporated into that body first. In a practical sense, do it as I did it on the ship; as I did it to get out of the army; as I do it whenever I’m up against something—because I’ve forgotten the unnumbered moments in my life when I idly entertain unlovely thoughts. And so they must come up for the harvest. They must come to confront me. And so, not knowing what I planted, they’re coming up. And then you find yourself—at that moment, you’ve got to do something. You can always do something, for the promise is: “Wherever the sole of your foot shall tread, that I have given to you.” But all of a sudden, news is on the horizon. Things are moving in your direction, and they aren’t pleasant. Don’t wait. What would you do now if things were as you want them to be? Ask yourself that question. Then do it, and fasten yourself to it. And set yourself on fire. And then this also comes into your world. So the inner being is real.934 ¶8

I’ll show you now how to do it—how you really can prove that this being in you is a form. It is reality far more real than this. There is no rose in this room at the moment, unless your name is Rose, but I mean a flower. Can’t you detect the fragrance of a rose? Try it. You can. If you concentrate, you can actually detect the fragrance of a rose. But if the rose is not here, how can you smell it? Can’t you actually feel a tennis ball? Can you feel a baseball? Can you feel the hand of a friend? You can, if you try it. They’re here, because you are omnipresent. You don’t have to travel for it. They’re all here. Wherever you are, the whole thing is contained within you. All things exist in the human imagination.934 ¶9

And you will say, “Now, what does that mean?” So, I can touch the rose, and I can touch the ball, and I can touch this. But I’m telling you, if you get yourself attached to it, you already get it. You’ll actually get it. Now, you can attach yourself to money. Actually, you can smell it. Money smells unlike anything else in the world. If you like it that much, you can smell it, and you can feel it. Don’t ask yourself how this miracle is going to happen, for the word translated “power” in the King James Version is translated “virtue.” It means “miraculous power went out of me.” It also means the miracle itself. “Someone touched me, for I perceive power has gone forth from me.” It’s a creative act. And so, you can feel the rose. You can feel this, feel that, touch it, smell it, see it, and then power goes out. You’re attached to it. Leave it. You will bring that into birth in this world of freedom. The other depends upon it touching you, so that you are drawn into it, and then it embraces you. So here, the being in you—you can touch it right now, and you can actually feel and exercise the being within you. It is your own wonderful human imagination.934 ¶10

So let me show you how this wonderful drama unfolds. You’ve heard me speak here in the last month and a half—two months—of a little girl whose name is Maylo. I told you she played the part of Peter in my drama. This past week, I received a letter last Friday night, and she said, “You are in my dream. I dreamt of you, a devil, mom, dad, my sister, and me.” She mentioned six, including herself. She said, “My dad was going to be tortured by a devil, and the devil had two long horns on top of his head, and the longest tail on earth. And he had a fork, and on the fork was a picture of fire. And then he had a spoon, and your picture was on it. And under the picture was the word ‘Enemy,’ and I knew why. I knew that you were all love, and everybody on earth loved you—mostly me.” “He was all hate, and then my dad was tortured. It took place under the ground. He was hung on a string between two poles, and suddenly, you appeared with my sister in your arms. And as you appeared, the devil screamed and faded, and then mom went over to you to give you a kiss of thanks, and you faded, and she went ‘Uh…’ She seemed so confused and went ‘Uh…’ And then a voice said, ‘He is what others call dead. He is what others call a spirit. He is what we call the God in us. He is what others call dead. He is what others call a spirit. He is what we call God in us.’” And then she said, “I awoke. Yours truly, Maylo.”934 ¶11

Now, in all these wonderful visions, there’s always a central point. Forget the devil; forget all these things. You can put them all together. One simple, simple thought in that—when she said “mostly me”—that was the entire dream. That was the entire vision. Here, she mentioned six characters, including herself. She mentioned the devil, who was all hate. She mentioned me—all love—and the world. Everyone loved me, because I was loved, and then my appearance caused the devil to vanish, and mother wanted to kiss me and thank me, because her husband—dad—was saved when I appeared, and the devil vanished. But that simple little statement—“mostly me”—I’m quite sure this little child is not familiar with Scripture. I don’t think she knows the last chapter of the Book of John. In fact, few people do. It’s an epilogue, for the book ends on the 20th chapter, and the 21st chapter is an epilogue, as the first 18 verses is a prologue, and the last chapter, an epilogue.934 ¶12

And this is the risen Lord, and He appears unto the disciples, and He turns to Peter. And Jesus said to Simon Peter: “Peter, son of John, do you love me more than these? Do you love me more than these do?” That’s the literal translation, meaning “the others.” And he answered, “Yes, Lord. You know I love you.” And then he said a second time, “Simon Peter, son of John, do you love me?” And again he said, “Yes, Lord. You know I love you.” Now, the first time, He said, “Feed my lamb.” The second time, He said, “Tend my sheep.” And the third time, He asked the same question: “Simon Peter, son of John, do you love me?” And then he was a bit irritated. He asked the same thing three times, and Peter said, “You know all things, Lord, and you know I love you.” Then He said, “Feed my sheep.”934 ¶13

Here we find the parallel between the three denials of the Lord of Peter and the three questions, and then the three conditions imposed upon him: You feed my lamb, you tame my sheep, and you feed my sheep. And here he finds in the very last, the three states of the voice. First of all, she confesses, “Mostly me.” For she answered, “Do you love me more than these?” It is not, “Do you love me more than you love the others?” “Do you love me more than these love me?” And he answered, “Yes, Lord. You know I do.” So she said, “The whole earth loves you—mostly me.” Just like a child, especially. And then she comes to the last, and it’s the same three: “He is what others call dead. He is what others call a spirit. He is what we call the God in us.”934 ¶14

There’s only one spirit. There’s only one Lord. There’s only one body—only one God and Father of all. So the being in you is also in the speaker, and yet you’re individualized; I am individualized. And we, not in eternity, though we are one, will we ever lose that individuality? That identity is unique. It was not created—it’s uncreated. It can never, in eternity, cease to be. It was not created, the being that you are. And yet we are one—we’re all one. But this inner you—that inmost self of which I speak—when He said He will “transform our lowly body to be of one form with His glorious body,” that union is the transformation. Then comes the regeneration.934 ¶15

And you are not only incorporated into the body—you awaken in the body. And then you are used, as the body is used, as the instrument through which the gift is bestowed. And the whole vast world is symbolized in that woman who had the issue of blood for 12 years—waiting, waiting, waiting for that moment in time when it would not be so, and she could conceive. And who touched her? “Lord, the multitude surrounded you, and you asked us a question? They all press upon you.” “Someone touched me, because I perceived that power—that virtue—went forth from me.”934 ¶16

And may I tell you, it does go forth from you. Even in the things of Caesar, it goes forth from you. I know in New York City, when I used to have these interviews, I would just stay tired at the end of the day. That’s why I stopped them. And so I would have, say, two an hour—give each person a half an hour. I would go into the silence of each one and completely explode and feel that they had what they wanted. But at the end of the day, I was completely moved. Virtue does go forth from you. It was a creative act with the request of everyone. And so I know virtue goes out. And virtue is power. It’s creative power. It’s miraculous power. And they got what they wanted, and I got more and more tired.934 ¶17

So I tell you: this is a power—a peculiar, miraculous power. And it’s all your own wonderful human imagination. You just simply, right now, try it. You can smell the flower. You can smell the seed. But don’t do it lightly, because it’s going to come to pass. Don’t treat it lightly just to disprove it. It would be stupid because you aren’t going to disprove it. And in the proving, you may not be really ready for it when it comes into your world demanding recognition. That I also know from experience. So be careful what you want when you apply this principle to everything. There’s nothing wrong in wanting to be secure in this world. What’s wrong with that? Nothing’s wrong in being a desirous of a healthy body. All these things you can have.934 ¶18

But the past is also catching up with you, because the present moment is not receding into the past. It’s advancing into the future to confront it. And so what I’m doing now is not really receding. It’s moving forward. I’m moving forward, then, to confront it. So what have I done that has moved forward for me to confront it? When I get there, I have to admit it: I did do it. And if I felt sorry for myself, or in anything, any way, entered into a state where I became attached to it, I’m going to confront it tomorrow.934 ¶19

Why? Because this being in us is a created being. It’s Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is your own wonderful human imagination. There is no other Jesus Christ. But He is buried in you because He is first crucified on you. And one day, He will rise in you. It’s the same Jesus Christ. There’s only one Jesus Christ. So, the eternal body of man is the human imagination. That is God Himself—the divine body, Jesus. And all of us are members of this one body. But we are gathered one by one. And we are called by that risen body, which is now incorporating one after the other. And it’s called the living, living church—not any such thing made with human hands. It is the body of the elect—those who have been called, those who have been chosen, those have been elected—and they’re incorporated into that one body by a creative act.934 ¶20

And then, in my own case, I said 30 years. 30 years later, you rise in that body. That’s when you rise. And then you’re part of the body. You’re part when you’re incorporated. But now you are living, awakened part, to be used in that capacity as the instrument to bestow the gifts, for He said, “Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” Well, grace is the gift—when the individual is completely regenerated, when that one is made equipped to receive the seed of God.934 ¶21

Well, tonight, try it when you go home. Don’t say that something is too big. You aren’t doing it as Caesar. You’re doing it as Jesus Christ, and all things are possible to Him. So, take the scene—take anything—and then become attached to it. Actually feel yourself right into the feeling of that wish fulfilled, and see what it would be like if it were true. Feel what it would be like if it were true. And you reach a certain point that you can’t do it anymore. You feel satisfied. That moment of satisfaction is the act in this world of Caesar, and then it’s done. And in the not-distant future, you will confront it in this world, for that thing is not receding—it’s advancing into the future.934 ¶22

So the innermost man is his imagination—and that innermost man, as Maylo said, we call it “the God in us.” Others call it—because they can’t see you physically—dead. And others call it, believing in spirit, “a spirit.” But we call it, said she, “the God in us.” And so, how beautifully that little child fulfills what she has to. At the very end of John, she’s reached it.934 ¶23

So here, “Do you love me, Peter, more than these? More than they do?” “Yes, Lord. You know I love you.” Second time: “Do you love me, Peter?” “Yes, Lord. You know I do.” Then the third time, to parallel the three denials, and then He imposes upon Peter a condition: to feed my lamb, to tend my sheep, and then to feed my sheep. And so she will. Many times, she will blow her top as it were, for that’s what Peter was—a violent character at moments, and then so tender at others, because she has the spirit in her. She’ll play—she’ll play to the full. But she’s got it right down to the very end of the drama, even into the epilogue.934 ¶24

So here, I tell you, this drama is forever. Everyone’s going to play it. Everyone’s going to be incorporated into that one body—and it is a body. Let no one tell you some impersonal force, like an “over-soul” and a “this, that, and the other.” Forget it. It’s a body. And how can that be a body that you’re looking at it and still it is omnipresent? Well, I’m standing right here now. It doesn’t take me a second to think of a dozen of my loved ones, scattered all over this earth, and put them all here. Or I could be there. It makes no difference. All things are possible to the imagination, because all things exist in my imagination. Where must I go outside of myself to find anything, if it all exists in my imagination? So I don’t have to go traveling for it. It exists here.934 ¶25

What is my need now in Caesar’s world? Well, it exists in my imagination. Lay hold of it. Touch it. Become attached to it. Fasten yourself to it, and set it on fire. Actually feel the reality of it. You can feel it. May I tell you, the minute you begin to feel it, it is done. Get the satisfaction of the boldest state of all the pleasures of the world. Relief is the most keenly felt. At the end of the creative act, it is relief. Until you reach the climax, you can’t. It is—there must be the climax for relief. And then, it’s done. And He knew the power had gone out, for He felt it. But then they all denied it. For can you see a scene where multitudes are pressing? How many must have touched Him? Only one touched Him. All the others touched the outer garment, but they didn’t touch Him.934 ¶26

For He is all imagination. And people are looking for Him to come into place. When you meet the risen Lord, it’s solid before you. As far as you’re concerned, it is flesh. But it isn’t. Because how could flesh embrace another being of flesh, and the two become one? There is no such thing as communion in this world of Caesar. So I was in spirit, and He is spirit, for God is spirit. And as He embraced me, the two became one. And He imprinted Himself upon me that I had then to bear His likeness by having that pattern unfold within me.934 ¶27

So we are called—all gathered, one by one—when we understand the story—the infinite drama—as it’s presented in Scripture.934 ¶28

I often wonder how these translators did such a wonderful job so as not to offend people in telling it as they told it. Just imagine wrestling through the night. And then, because he didn’t prevail, he touched his thigh, and then the thigh shrank. And then Jacob, who is now called “Israel,” limped. And he’d make a mental picture of a man whose side shrank. And isn’t that at all? Take the word in your concordance and look up the word “thigh.” And you’ll receive a shock when you see what it is. But it’s much better to say “thigh” for those who could be offended if you actually knew what is taking place. The creative act is over, and the organ shrinks. And that’s the story of God and man.934 ¶29

So here, this inner you is real. It’s the immortal you that cannot die. I don’t care what happens to you from now on. You cannot die. You are this immortal, incorruptible being. And while you’re here—for a purpose—in time, you’ll be called. You’ll be called into that union with the risen Lord. And then you can come today from that union on. And it will be 30 years, so you are told in the Gospel: “And He began His work when He was about 30 years of age.” Has nothing to do with 30 years from the time you were born as a little child. It’s from the time that you actually were incorporated through that union into the body of God. And you can come to you from then on.934 ¶30

It is 1929, all right, so I was 24. After 30, and finally, 54. It was when I was 54 years of age, in the city of San Francisco, that the whole thing began to erupt and unfold within me, because “He was about 30 years of age.” Now, John mentions it: “You know, Abraham?” “Why?” “You’re not yet 50.” Others put it, “Why, you are just about 50 years of age.” So he brings the age forward into the 50s. It doesn’t matter; it could happen, say, at 40. But then you’d have to go back to your time when you were 10, because it’s 30 years from the time of that regenerative act, which is a spiritual union with the risen Lord.934 ¶31

So you, seated here—your destiny is to be one with the glorified body of God, carrying it as your own body. You are the spirit of it, for there’s only then one spirit, one Lord, one God and Father of all.934 ¶32

But now, tonight, in the most simple, practical way—because we are still living in the world of Caesar—ask no one anything. “What do you want?” You ask yourself, “What do I want?” And then you answer quite honestly. If reason comes in, which is always doubt—it’s called the devil when you couldn’t get there. You’re either too old, or you’re this, or you don’t know the right people. Forget that. That’s all the devil. That’s all doubt. What do I want? All things are possible to God. And God is my own wonderful human imagination. But I know what I want. Well then, use my imagination now to create the scene which would imply that I have it, and become attached to it. And feel it—feel myself right into it, and become one with it. And then when I feel the satisfaction of this state, I can’t continue doing it, because I’ve reached the climax. It’s done. Drop it. In its own good time—it could be in 24 hours; it could be in a month; it could be in a week. But in its own good time, it will create the means necessary to externalize itself. And you will get it. That’s how it works.934 ¶33

You don’t pray to anyone on the outside; you will find Him on the inside. Just as Maylo said, “But we call Him ‘the God in us.’” Others call—speak of Him as the dead: “He died 2,000 years ago.” Others speak of Him as a spirit. But we call Him “the God in us.” A child, hearing a voice coming seemingly from without, is really coming from within herself. That’s where she’s hearing it.934 ¶34

And all the imagery of that vision is so perfect: the old, old story of the horn on the head, and the long tail, and the fork. And then she says that when she saw my picture on the spoon he held in his hand, and under: “Enemy.” But then she said, “I knew why.” Because intuitively, she knew why I was the enemy of one who was the embodiment of hate, for I was all love. Love embraced me and sent me. I can be nothing more then. He who embraced me sent me. He who sees me sees Him who sent me. We are one. And so when love then appeared, her dad was saved, and he screamed, and then faded. That’s what exactly what you’re told in Scripture. When He appeared, the devil screamed at Him, and He had no compassion on them. He still cast them out. And then they faded. Her vision was perfect. All the imagery was perfect. That simple little word: “Mostly me.” “Do you love me?” “You know I do, Lord. More than these. You know I do, Lord.” And she adds that simple little word: “Mostly me.” But the child is only—I think she’s now nine from what I can tell. Eight or nine. But I think her last birthday on the 4th of January, she’s nine.934 ¶35

So you see, everyone’s going to have Scripture unfold within them. And they’re going to have confirmation of it from those who come within their world. They’ll all come. They have to come. And “No one can come unless my Father draws them.” And so, out of nowhere, Peter was drawn—not from a beach, fishing; she was playing her little toys. And yet, out of that nowhere, she was drawn to play the part. I’ve only seen the child twice. She doesn’t know my face. She doesn’t know my faith in her vision.934 ¶36

So the body of which I speak is real. It’s not some intangible thing, some doctrinal. It’s solidly real—more real than any physical thing in the world—and yet omnipresent. That is the mystery. How can it be a body and be omnipresent? And yet it is omnipresent. And it’s all-powerful. He’s defined as “the power of God.” If, on a matter of prayer, power is exercised, there’s that body. It’s the wisdom of God. There is that body. Whenever wisdom is exercised, there is that body. And you are that body.934 ¶37

God's Son

I thought I would gather all of the pieces together that I’ve been trying to tell you over the years. Tonight, we will take the opening passage of the epistle to the Hebrews. “In many and various ways, God spoke of old to our fathers by the prophet. But in these last days, he has spoken to us by his son.” This son reflects the glory of God and bears the expressed image of his person. This is the heart of the Christian message.933 ¶1

This is the gospel spoken in the universal language that all would understand. Whether you are living here in our marvelous land of America or living in any part of the world, we all know the relationship of father-son. So, he spoke in many and various ways. As we’re told in the 19th Psalm, “The Heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows his handiwork. And man has done marvelous things in the study of the heavens and the study of things of earth.” You and I are now benefiting from the things that we’ve discovered in this search right here on earth. And with the great telescope, we’ve discovered a number of beauties of the heavens, and we’ve gone so far as to actually walk on the moon. But all of these things will fade into nothing compared to the final revelation of God.933 ¶2

In the last days, he reveals himself by his son. You will not find God, no matter how you find the things in the wonders of the earth, and we find them day after day. You will not find him if you go to all the heavens of the world, you aren’t going to find him there. But you will find him, and everyone in the world will find him in the relationship of father-son. This is God’s final revelation of himself to man. And so, whether you be living now in Africa, living here in America, living in China, everyone knows this relationship. You could be today without a child, never married in your life, but you know the relationship. You could be female, and still, you know the relationship of a father-son.933 ¶3

I will tell you that in this state when you are above it all, you’re neither male nor female. As we are told, “Male-female made he them, and called their name, man.” So, in Christ, there is no Greek, there is no Jew, there is no male, no female, no bond, nor creed. We are above it all. But we all know this relationship. And it will not shock a woman to know that she is God the Father when the time comes for it to be revealed in her. Revealed in a man, revealed in anyone in this world. So, this is God’s final revelation to man, and he reveals it by his son.933 ¶4

Now, let me share it with you. In this same book—what is the source, I do not know—he tells us that Moses was told to see clearly and make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain. Make it according to the pattern. So, we are living in a world that is only a copy. This is a copy. The reality is not here at all. This is all a copy.933 ¶5

Why the author of the letter to the Hebrews stated that the urn, the golden urn that contained the manna and that the rod that budded, Aaron’s rod that budded, was in the Holy of Holies, I do not know because I know from experience it is himself. Now we are told by our historians and our archaeologists that when the temple was destroyed in the year 70 A.D., and Jerusalem was destroyed, when they opened the Holy of Holies, it was empty. There was nothing there when they opened the Holy of Holies. Why he incorporated this into his story, I do not know. What was his source, I do not know. It is not in the Old Testament. There is not one line in the Old Testament where the rod that budded, Aaron’s rod that budded, and the urn that contained manna, the golden urn, was found in any Holy of Holies.933 ¶6

And I know from my own experience that the Holy of Holies is right here, and God sleeps in it, and when God awakes without the help of anyone, he doesn’t need anyone’s help, God emerges from the Holy of Holies, which is called the Holy Sepulcher. And when you awake within that Holy Sepulcher, it is empty, may I tell you. You are the only presence in it, and you come out by your innate wisdom as to what to do and you push yourself out of it. You push and something gives and you come out.933 ¶7

And so, the story is true. It is empty. And so, if our archaeologists found the temple, the temple that was destroyed, and the Holy of Holies lay open, was found to be completely empty, so not a thing is in it but the sleeper and the sleeper in man is God and his name forever and forever is I am. That’s God. There is no other God.933 ¶8

But he is a father, and then in the not distant future, after he comes out leaving the empty sepulcher, he will know who he is. He still doesn’t know who he is when he comes out. It takes his son to reveal him. And the son doesn’t even call him. He calls him father, but he doesn’t have to call him father. The minute he appears, memory returns, for the thing that God gave up to become man was memory. That was his great sacrifice. He completely gave up all the wisdom of the world, all the power of the world, and the knowledge of who he is. He gave up his memory.933 ¶9

Having predetermined exactly what he would do in becoming humanity, in becoming human, God revealed who he is. He is made up of his sons. Elohim is a plural word and God descended and became fragmented, divided into the unnumbered sons. He is God, buried in the skull of man.933 ¶10

He awakens in the skull of man. You awaken individually. We do not awaken collectively. You are unique. No one can take your place. Salvation external to man is of no avail whatsoever. You can be the Holiest of Holies in the eyes of yourself and your friends—that hasn’t a thing to do with it. You could be so good that you can’t believe for one moment you could get better—that hasn’t a thing to do with it. You can go on diets, go to holy places, do all these things—that’s nothing.933 ¶11

The final revelation is when the son stands before you. And the son is the resultant state of your journey to this world of death. This is a world of death. And God came down into death, buried in the skull of man, and overcomes death, and the result of his journey stands personified as a son, the eternal son. So, in many and various ways, God spoke of old to our fathers by the prophet. But in these last days, he spoke to us by his son.933 ¶12

That son reveals exactly who you are. You could be now the lady of ladies, unwed, and never known a man, makes no difference. In the resurrection, you are above the organization of sex. But you’re not above fatherhood. And this son is not begotten of sex, he is the resultant state of your journey through the experiences of this world of death. But when Blake wrote in Jerusalem how they come forth from the furnaces, “these are the furnaces—and how long, how vast, how severe the anguish. Here, they find their father, were long to tell.”933 ¶13

This is the anguish. This is the hell, for heaven is nothing more than the presence of the awakened God and hell is his absence. While we sleep, we dream nightmares and God is the dreamer in man—and this world that we think is the waking world, this is a dream, too. And here, this is God asleep. When God awakes in man, it’s heaven.933 ¶14

As he awakes, everything within his presence is made perfect. That I know from my own experience, that Heaven is not a realm, it is a character, it is a body, and clothed in that body, no matter where you are, everything is made perfect. If you went through the Petrified Forest, it would suddenly bloom because you are present. If you were in the desert, it would bloom. Nothing can stand in your presence that is imperfect.933 ¶15

I know that from an experience at sea in 1946. When I was risen from within, and where they all sang, my praise, “Neville is risen.” I’m clothed in this glorious, luminous body. I walked by and thousands waited for me to come and they were all imperfect, blind, lame, withered, shrunken, you name it, there they were. I did not raise a finger to transform them. I had no compassion to transform them. I did not stop to do anything or talk to one of them. I made no effort whatsoever. But clothed in the perfect body, as I glided by, everyone was made perfect. Eyes that were missing came out of the nowhere and fill the empty socket. Hands that were missing came out of the nowhere and fill the empty shoulder. People who could not rise, jumped for joy. And everyone was made perfect and I didn’t raise a finger to make it so.933 ¶16

What made it so? I was in my body that is perfect. And everything has to be perfect in my presence. So, I know heaven is nothing more than the presence of the risen God. And hell would be the other. When he has not risen, he dreams these strange dreams of death and decay. And whenever you are risen, and you will be, because he in you must awake. And when you awake you are clothed in your immortal body, and that is perfect. And you cannot be any place where it isn’t perfect. If you wake through hell, you will be easily transformed into heaven. And heaven means harmony. Everything is made perfect, made right, in your presence.933 ¶17

So, the final revelation is not going to be going to the sun or to the outside planets or finding more of the earth, marvelous as it is. For you and I enjoy the comforts tonight, we have light. We’ve found that right here on earth, how to do it. It was always there, but not discovered. You aren’t going to discover anything that it wasn’t. It was always there. We have just unlocked the energy in the atom. It was always there. We had not discovered the means by which it could be unlocked. We never even believed it contained this power. All of a sudden, man discovered it can be unlocked and devised the means to unlock it. And you and I enjoy all the marvelous things that man today is discovering on earth, as told us in that 19th Psalm: “Not only do the wonders of the heavens declare the glory of God, but his firmament shows forth his handiwork.” And here is his handiwork. And day after day to come forward to something entirely different, something new, making it an easier world in which to live, as far as the burdens go.933 ¶18

But the final revelation of God is in his son, and that is the universal language that everyone can understand. Because if tonight I lived in Africa, but I knew the story and I read the story, so I picked only the Old Testament, but that’s the story. And in the Old Testament, I read of a man. But as I read it, I think, well, if he lived a thousand years ago, as I read it in the first century, or he is supposed to have lived a thousand B.C., living today. I would say, well, he lived 3,000 years ago. So, I don’t associate myself with him at all. I was born and raised in the Christian faith. I call myself a Christian. I knew no other religions. I simply knew only what my mother taught me, what I learned in school, and I call myself a Christian. So, I read the story and my mother would read me these stories. But they belong to a world that was thousands of years ago. And these men died, as far as I’m concerned, that was secular history and they were of the past.933 ¶19

If all of a sudden, one night here in Beverly Hills, sound asleep, my skull explodes. And standing before me as it explodes, and I am sitting at a table, and before me is David—and there is no uncertainty as to who he is. He is not a David. He is the David. He is the David of biblical faith. And he stands before me, and I know exactly who he is and he knows who I am. And before is the severed head of the giant Goliath, right on a table before me. And there he is, leaning against the side of an open door, and I am looking at him, and I know I am his father. And he knows that he is my son. And here is this perfectly marvelous thing, 3,000 years went by, did it? And here it is, contemporary.933 ¶20

Then what happened? My memory returned. Memory returned. All that I read in Scripture was all about me, and I didn’t know it. I was told it in the 40th Psalm. In the volume of the book, it is all about me. Well, when you read it, don’t think a man called David or one called Jesus is reading that book. Think of yourself, for Jesus is the I am of man. That’s God. Jesus is the Lord. He is buried in every man. And in the story, David calls him, my Lord, which is a name referred to as the Father. Every son spoke of his Father as my Lord. So, you read the 40th Psalm and because it was written a thousand B.C., you think, well now, I’m not related. How could I be related to these characters of the Old Testament, and they were all Jews? And I call myself a Christian.933 ¶21

And here is the only reality. I am the Father of this great Jew called David. Therefore, I must be Jesse, and yet I had no change of identity. Then I look up the word Jesse, and it means Jehovah. It means the Lord. It means a self-existent being. That’s what the word Jesse means. And Jesse is the Father of David.933 ¶22

And suddenly I am aware. Memory has returned. So, the only thing that you gave up in your descent into this world was a memory, and completely forgot who you are, that you may experience death and not pretend that you are man. You could not actually accomplish the adventure if you pretended. An actor steps up on the stage, and he plays his part. But he knows after that curtain comes down, and the final curtain comes down, he is going to go home to his lovely home, if he has a lovely home. If he’s a great star who’s made money, he goes home to a fabulous home. But that’s not the story.933 ¶23

You have to completely forget that you are God to become man. And you have completely forgotten that you are God in becoming man. But all day long you call upon his name, and his name is your name. You say, I am. Who are you? And before you answer anything, you say that I am, and then you’d say, John so-and-so, I am Doctor so-and-so, but you precede it with I am—and that’s God’s name. But you don’t know who you are until the very last of the journey, and that last is when his son comes into your world. And his son is your son, and then memory returns.933 ¶24

And now you know that every child born of woman is the same being, is God buried there. And everyone is going to have the identical son, not another David. And therefore, we are one, as told us in the Scripture. I dwell in them and they dwell in me. And we are one. So, you are now different, and you call yourself by another name. You will not lose your identity. And yet you and I are one because we have the same son. Together, collectively, we all form the Father. And therefore, I only had the son. And that son is David. So, you will not lose your identity, but you and I are one. Having the same son, we are the same Father. So, the Father is a compound unity. The word is Elohim, one made up of others. And the others, we are the others. And the others are called in the Scripture, the sons of God. So, the sons came down, but the sons formed the Father.933 ¶25

Now we are awakening individually as God the Father, just raising us to a higher level than we were when we descended. That is the adventure. And God is in this adventure. He is not on the outside of it. He is in it. And he’s in it where he is buried. He’s buried in his holy sepulcher. The Holy of Holies—and that is your skull, that’s where God is buried, buried in his tomb. And so naturally it is empty when they find it.933 ¶26

So, this world is a copy. It’s a shadow world. Make everything according to the pattern, which was shown you on the mountain, and so it has to be perfect. So, here at the very end, you see the son, and the son reveals the Father. Everyone in this world is going to have that experience. I promise you because I know it happened to me so suddenly, so unexpectedly. It’s going to happen to everyone. Not one can fail.933 ¶27

So, here in these closing nights, I thought I would tie it all together and show you the important things of Scripture—that the Old Testament is a recorded shadowland. I call it an adumbration, a foreshadowing. In a not altogether conclusive or immediately evident way, but when it happens, then the whole thing unfolds within you. As we are told, “This is the God who said let light shine out of darkness, who has shone into our hearts and given us the very light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.”933 ¶28

Christ is David. Here is the glory in the face of Christ. So, when Browning brings it out in his beautiful poem, he has Christ speak to the sleeping God called in the Scripture, Saul. And Saul is simply God, sound asleep and he is called a mad person, because if he is sound asleep, he has strange dreams. And David stands before Saul, and he said, “Oh, Saul, a face like my face shall receive it. A man like unto me, thou shalt love and be loved by forever. A hand like this hand shall throw open the gates of new life to thee.”933 ¶29

Then he stands before him and his face sees the Christ stand. This is Browning’s poem. When David, and it was all inspired by the 16th and 17th chapters of the first book of Samuel, and David came before the demented king and revealed who he is, but the king could not see it. When he stands before you, you’ll know it. You’ll be completely awake and you’ll know that you are God the Father.933 ¶30

You could have all the children in the world. A world of death, makes no difference. You could be barren or you could have many. Marvelous, if you are a father or a mother, but you are destined to have the son, and the son is only the resultant state. When you have played all the parts, you too will say, “I have finished the work thou gavest me to do. Now return unto me the glory that was mine. The glory that I had received before that the world was.” You’re not asking for anything else other than the return of that glory—and glory and God are synonymous terms in Scripture. Return my Godhead. I gave it up. I gave up my memory to become man, and now return it all unto me.933 ¶31

And then you will say, “I have finished the race. I have fought the good fight. I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there’s laid out for me the crown of righteousness.” And everyone may be crowned with righteousness. And what is righteousness? In the Scripture, when man completes the condition imposed upon him by a relationship, he is accounted righteous. And that relationship is called the Son. The minute it happens to you, you are the righteous being and therefore you wear the crown of righteousness.933 ¶32

No mortal eye can see it, but it is seen. It is only the crown. It is not a crown. And Paul used these words in his letter to Timothy, he spoke of the crown, not an indefinite article, but the definite one. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid out for me, the crown of righteousness.” He finished it, where he said, “Now I bear on my body the mark of Jesus.”933 ¶33

And one thinks it means, the great mark that the world will paint on a picture. No. The marks you have done are the stories I’ve told you concerning how it unfolds within you. First, you awaken. Then you come out and you are born from above. Then you discover the son who reveals you as God, the Father. Then your body is split in two from top to bottom. And then you take the blood, that golden liquid light at the base of your spine, and then you fuse with it, and like a fiery serpent, you ascend into your skull, and taking with you the blood through the curtain, for you are the temple of the living God. And the only curtain that is split isn’t some little thing made by human hands. But your own body is split in two. That’s the curtain. And so now you make a new and living way into the Holy of Holies.933 ¶34

And that Holy of Holies, it was empty when you came out. And you go back now and you’re the only living reality in it. And all of those who preceded you and those who will come, together you’ll form one being, one infinite being, which is God, the father. And then your final state is when the Holy Spirit descends upon you in bodily form as a dove. That is the seal of approval of the work being completed.933 ¶35

And then you’ll tell the story that I’m telling to you now. You’ll tell it to anyone who will listen in the hope that they will listen and believe it; for it is destined that they will experience it. But no one can really understand and appreciate Scripture until he has experienced Scripture.933 ¶36

You have no idea how altogether wonderful it is until you’ve experienced it. The thrill that was mine when this thing happened with David. I jumped out of my bed and I wrote it down. It was early in the morning. My wife was sound asleep and I didn’t want to wake her. And the next morning when I told her, I said, “You may not believe this, but do you know I am the Father of David?” Well, she likes all the things that I have in my vision, and she never ridicules or makes little of anything I tell her, and it struck her forcibly. But I said, “Yes, honestly, I am David’s Father.”933 ¶37

But at that moment, believing it to be of secular history, my wife would think of me. Is this now a memory of the past? Going back 3,000 years ago, you lived and you were the man called in Scripture, Jesse? Then in time, it all unfolded. The meaning of Jesse. Jesse means Jehovah. And yet here I am, limited in this world, restricted by the body that I wear, imprisoned by this body, and continue to be imprisoned to the very end when I take it off for the last time. This time when I take it off, I am not reimprisoned, as all who have not had the experience will be, for all who have not had the experience will be restored to life in a body just like this, only young and healthy and nothing missing; perfect about twenty years of age to continue the journey until that last revelation.933 ¶38

All the revelations in the world, marvelous as they are, they must wait to the end. And the end is when he reveals himself in the son. So, we are told, set our hope fully upon the grace that is coming to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ in you. The unveiling of Jesus Christ in you is the unveiling of the Father and the Son. Jesus is the Father. He who has seen me, said Jesus, has seen the Father. And the son is David, who calls him, my Lord. And so, when that whole thing is unveiled within man then he knows who he is.933 ¶39

And everyone came here for that one purpose—to give up completely and overcome death. For the last enemy to be overcome is death. Really nothing dies anyway. We all are restored, everything is restored by these eternal images that are forever in heaven. And they are restored by contemplating the image. But that doesn’t mean the end, that’s only restoration.933 ¶40

Resurrection is something entirely different. Death comes at the end. And after the resurrection, which is the awakening within the skull, comes the birth from above. Then the discovery of David, then the stripping of the temple, and then the descent of the dove. And these are the marks of Jesus upon the body that Paul says, “I bear upon my body the marks of Jesus.” He did not spell them out. I am making every effort to spell them out and to give you the actual interval of time between these marks that you may check it.933 ¶41

It took me 1,260 days or you can say three-and-a-half months, or three-and-a-half years, pardon me, or forty-two months. These things are all in Scripture. Forty-two months, three- and-a-half years, or “time, times, and half a time,” or 1,260 days. It takes exactly 1,260 days. From the 20th day of July of 1959 to the first day of January 1963, comes to 1,260 days. And that was the interval in which the whole thing happened. Our visions came after that but they are not considered the mark. These are the marks that took 1,260 days.933 ¶42

Now here because we are at almost the end of the journey, let us go into the silence and give you a longer time tonight to ask questions. If you feel like it. Now let us go.933 ¶43

Are there any questions, please? Yes, ma’am.933 ¶44

Did you all hear that question? Why when we have a dream—I wouldn’t say all dreams are of that nature, most of them are symbolic, granted—but the lady wants to know why is it that if they are supposed to be instructive, why are they so difficult for the individual who had the dream to understand them? Well, I must confess that man is a past master at misinterpreting his dreams. He tries to read everything into it and it only has one central jet of truth. But he tries to give every little piece of the dream significance, and it doesn’t have that. But we are told in the book of Numbers, the twelfth chapter of Numbers, “I will speak to man in a dream and make myself known in a vision.” He reveals himself in visions but he speaks in a dream. And some dreams are so simple they need no interpretation. Others need interpretation, as we are told in the 41st chapter of Genesis when Pharaoh could not interpret his own dream and the wise men could not interpret it for him. Then he called Joseph. And Joseph came and interpreted the dream, and as he said, so it came to pass. He understood the universal language of symbolism. And so, all I can say to you is, well, make an effort, try your best or ask someone that you trust who can interpret the dream. But don’t try to read everything into a dream. Some are very simple; others that seem simple, may have tremendous significance using the symbolism of the dream. If you want help in a book, don’t buy these dream books, they are no earthly good. But there is a book put out today in one volume. I have it in two when it first came out. It’s called The Lost Language of Symbolism by Bayley. And he shows you through the centuries, going back to pre-Christian days, the imagery that the Egyptians used and all civilizations prior. And it’s a universal language. The animal world and what it means when encountered in a dream. And it’s called The Lost Language of Symbolism because it’s universal. A man in China could dream of a dog, they have dogs. We dream of a dog. We have dogs. So, it’s not necessarily a dog, an animal. It has certain significance. And the actions of the dog. We all have horses. Everybody has a horse in the world. That is, all nations have horses. And if we do not have tigers in our land, we know what a tiger is like. And all these things are part of this one-volume today, and it’s a perfectly wonderful volume. It might help you in interpreting your dream. But he does speak to men in dreams, and he makes himself known in a vision. A vision is just like this, you know, just as real as this, where man is in control, although he’s automatically doing all the things, he seems to be in control of what is happening. And yet it’s unfolding rapidly but just like this.933 ¶46

Well, let me, did you hear that question? If you were here last lecture night, you would understand the question better. For we spoke on a different level altogether. We spoke of the impregnation and using the story of a lady, who is present tonight, where she saw me standing at the foot of her bed with my back to her. And then I was sitting on her bed and then I leaned backwards and my entire body sank into her body. And there she is, alone, and yet I am within her. And then I came up by the side of her and then I took my left hand and covered her body with my left hand and felt the body. And then instantly I am on her. And then she had a climax. An ecstatic orgasm, and then I disappeared. She got off the bed, hoping to stand and she fell to her knees. And she wondered, “What was that experience?” Well, I explained it last lecture night that that was an impregnation. That the remnant spoken of in Scripture is not a remnant of a certain race of people but the elect of God. They are the apostles. The apostles are called. They are elected. They are chosen. But the word apostle means to be sent. And so, when you are called, you are also sent. Then you are sent in the capacity of one to sow the seeds. Not everyone sows the seed, any more than when you have racehorses, if you want to breed horses, you don’t take every stud because he’s a stud and use him as a stud. We have chosen one that we use as a stud. And you’ll bring your mare to be courted by a certain stud. Well, the same holds true in this copy world. That same world takes place above. And the apostle is simply the called, the chosen. They are the chosen stallions who will plant the seed. They are totally unaware because they also have their own moral-ethical code in this world by which they live. And if they were called upon to perform such acts in the knowledge of what they’re doing, they couldn’t do it, and would not do it because it would be in conflict with their ethical- moral code. So, they are relieved of the memory of it. For it is said of them, “He came to do the Father’s will. And then the Father speaks, ‘That I have found in him one after my own heart who will do all my will.’” So, it is the Father’s will that that seed is planted at this moment. Now, there, there, there. And the chosen ones called the apostles, they’ve planted the seed. Not everyone is going to be chosen to plant the seed. There are eight ranks in the heavenly structure. The apostle comes first, then the prophet, then the teacher. So, you have a complete rank as you have in the army. And what comes down from the supreme general goes on to the next and the next and the next, and finally, you get to the soldier without stripes. But it’s all in writing. So, the apostles in all of the divisions, no matter where you read it in Scripture, they come first. But not everyone is ….933 ¶48
